Stunning Crimson Desert PS5 Footage Reveals a Wildly Ambitious RPG

I'm looking forward to it, hopefully it reviews well.

Certainly looks interesting. I'm curious to know if the studio can handle the jump from MMO to singleplayer.

I have that terrible feeling that this will be broken at launch. Seems like it's doing a lot.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I just don't understand the hype for this game at all.

Looks insane but also feels a bit all over the place. I still not convinced by the combat, doesn’t look like it has that visceral feel but we’ll see I suppose.

@Oram77 I'm somewhere in the middle. To me it looks like Witcher 3 on steroids, but as people say, it's a bit all over the place. It could be a potential gem if they manage to pull it off in the end (just like Clair Obscur was this year).

@Czar_Khastik May get flack for this, but this game just looks like a medieval version of the first descendant minus the bikinis. But you're right they could pull it off, will just have to see.

I have a strong feeling performance will be choppy and it’ll need some patching, but it looks like it’ll be a tonne of fun.

It also looks like it’s focusing on “what would be fun” and “what would be cool/ridiculous” - it’s not trying to reinvent the wheel, it’s not being overblown as such by the studio. If it has just focused on those, I think it’ll deliver. Probably looking at a very fun 7 or 8/10.

I'm looking forward to this, but I have a strange feeling that it could be similar to cyberpunk at launch.

I'm yet to see a video of this game where the player is a master of the combat system. It's constant 'you hit, I hit' which I find really unsatisfying. I wanna see some blocks, perfect parries and dodges for the love of god!

That's my only concern, otherwise this looks incredible.

Definitely one I'm keeping an eye on. It looks amazing...a bit too amazing perhaps. If it launches in a good state I'll jump in for sure.

I'm hopeful but suspect it could be another Lost Soul Aside.
Mind you this is by a South Korean publisher who don't have iffy geo-politics like Lost Soul Aside so I can get behind it.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Footage has looked great so far, but I wasn't a big fan of Black Desert.

After watching several gameplay previews for this game, I’m finding it difficult to connect with the hype. A few core design issues are hard to ignore.

Too much visual noise — excessive particle effects, bloom, and lighting make combat hard to follow. It’s difficult to discern what’s actually happening moment to moment.

Combat feedback appears weak — animations are elaborate, but it’s not clear when hits land, how enemies are responding.

Control and responsiveness may be at risk — input seems tied to long animations or overdesigned mechanics. That’s a red flag for moment-to-moment gameplay feel.

The visual identity feels overly familiar — the art style doesn’t carve out a unique space.

Style may be taking priority over substance — similar to Lost Soul Aside, where aesthetics are polished but core gameplay elements feel thin.

Is anyone else not feeling the hype?

This game does look cool and impressive but I do think it lacks a specific vision and looks more like a bunch of fantasy elements from other media slapped together without a strong foundation of creative purpose. It really feels like they set out to make “cool medieval action fantasy game” without having a unique story to tell or anything to add to the genre. I know you could say this to some degree about a lot of games but it feels particularly surface level here. I would be thrilled to be proven wrong though

Not sold yet, but happy to see the machine-steampunk stuff popping up; game looked like a pretty generic medieval fantasy world before.

This game looks interesting, one that I will watch after it releases to see performance and gameplay before I buy it. Lately I have been much more discriminating in my purchases, but this title looks like it has potential.

This is one of my most anticipated games. I really hope they promise quiet a bit of post launch support.

@get2sammyb i'd be more sceptical on whether this is PS footage. They have showed PS footage with the "captured on ps5/pro" in the past and it has got progressively worse looking, and this is suddenly an upgrade. Really nice if it is and they managed to optimise it, but i'd expect this to be PC.

But there is some other huge news worthy of an article and further PushSquare research into the matter... it seems they have finally replaced Comic Sans as the in-game font! 🙌 We need an interview with the dev team detailing this monumental change and the thought process behind 1: first using comic sans in the game, and 2: realising it looked terrible and changing it 😁

@Oram77 my hype has always been suspicious but hopeful. But the more I see the more I think it lacks a soul or a real x-factor. But I thought similar things about Dragon's Dogma 2 pre-launch and I still loved actually playing that. This is the game it most resembles, to me, but DD2 was really nice from a gameplay standpoint and had it's own unique weirdness and systems that make it unique. If this achieves similar it could well be very good, but it is still a tough ask.

Sometimes games do feel much better in-hand than in previews is all i'll say. As watching videos you kind of notice any blandness and negatives you might not notice when playing.

Then again it could be similar to Forspoken, which is another one I was excited for, but the devs put me off with their long drawn out videos of how bland the game looked before release. And when I tried that one I still thought it was boring and lacked soul.

Real user impressions or a playable demo are definitely needed on this one before a digital purchase.

If its another dark souls type game with no easy mode ill pass but if it has difficulty modes ill buy it looks good

The games looks great, but I've never seen a game that is a new IP have so many trailers since announcement and a ton through the months of a delay. Is anyone working on the game, or they just making trailers? lol. maybe it would be out. Jokes aside, I hope this turns out great and isn't a bug fest.

Day one for me. From all the content released until now, I have a feeling it's gonna be epic!

@Titntin Same here. This game looks like it can be the "next big thing" in RPG's. However, we've learned to temper our expectations on brand new IP's and also performance on every release that comes out these days. It could be brilliant like Borderlands 4, but run like a mess. Hopefully they stick all landings.

@get2sammyb Not really. It reminds me of Forspoken but with a dude and that game was super blah! I've yet to see something that makes my brain go wow.
