After much public deliberation, Gearbox Software has today confirmed Borderlands 4 will be a £59.99 / $69.99 game on PS5, at its launch. It will also offer an £89.99 / $99.99 Deluxe Edition and a £119.99 / $129.99 Super Deluxe Edition, both bundling in additional digital content. The three versions are available for pre-order on the PS Store now.
The game launches on 12th September 2025, and you can view the image below for a comparison of the three editions:

The more expensive versions of Borderlands 4 confirm the game will receive at least four post-launch DLC packs, adding "distinct areas, new missions, and unique bosses". They'll also contain "four Vault Cards with unique challenges and rewards; new gear and weapons; four new vehicles, and Vault Hunter cosmetics".
On top of those, it appears the Super Deluxe Edition contains access to a further two story expansions. These shall add new Vault Hunters to play as alongside more missions and quests.
In a press release, founder and president Randy Pitchford said: "Borderlands 4 is the most excited the team and I have ever been to launch a Borderlands game. Borderlands 4 is the best entry point for new players while also being a heartfelt love letter to fans of the original games."
Previously, Pitchford has publicly stated he didn't know how much Borderlands 4 would cost, and implied anyone who's a "real fan" would find a way to buy a game priced at $80. Now we know the game will be $10 cheaper for the base version, but Pitchford still apologised for his comments.

It could be free and I still wouldn't play it
What do you know, another internet outrage that was much ado about nothing.
I was angry when Randy announced the 80$ price tag but now that he apologized I will buy the 130$ version.
$130 wtf that's crazy 🤪
@LiamCroft You typo'd the deluxe edition at $9.99 instead of what I'm assuming should be $99.99.
I’ll wait for about a year and get it for about twenty bucks.
Ah, who am I kidding? I’ll wait a year and a half and get it on PS Plus Essential as a monthly game.
I love the optimism but this really isnt the game to be asking for that price tag 😂 Gta 6 maybe.
Ehhhh I'll get it on sale for $20 a few months after release
It’ll cost £0 for me, due to only ever playing it 10 years later on my PSSwitchBox after the 4th Falklands War.
Like most games , I'll wait 6 months for the $40 sale
Yep £60 and probably cheaper physical at stores about £54.99.
And more expensive on Sonys digital stores.
It should be cheaper on digital. At least Nintendo have got that the right way round.
@Czar_Khastik dammit man 😂 that got me😂 your comments are always great but this ones my favorite lol
also will be buying BL4 because i like borderlands even if 3 & mid-sequel (pre sequel) sucked
I'm definitely gonna buy it once it's on sale and has gotten a few updates.
I’ll likely pass on this game. Maybe MR CEO can help “make it happen” for their gamers
@OldGamer999 i think thats more Nintendo just trying to force people to digital ecosystem then them being generous. They already made their games $80 when their budgets and profits dont demand it
Will wait and see what the price will be on Black Friday.
a franchise that is as stale as prison bread.
@nomither6 Nice 😂😂 And the prices got me, to be honest. I actually like the series and although I didn't play the 3rd one I hope the 4th entry will actually be good and fun as it was during the early days. I'll wait for a discount and get the steelbook version if there will be such a thing.
Still haven’t checked out the Borderlands games. Maybe it’s time for me to dive in before 4 comes out.
Tell you what, £150 if you can guarantee no Tiny Tina
$70 nah!!!
$100 nope!!!!
This is definitely not worth $130😂😂😂😂
People in the comments are sooo hostile towards the Borderland series! I personally don't play them because I find the humor too cringy for my tastes, but damn - y'all are out to bury this game!
I'm gonna buy it - been day 1 since bl2... but nothing way in jack am I paying for the premium dlc enabled edition. Wonderlands scarred me with that scam...
I'll wait for a sale on dlc, thank you - maybe the full bundle and get it still probably cheaper than the "full edition" as i have no interest in skins for my weapons. 🤣
Modern gaming's sickening aint it, im off to play a 16bit classic to show my disdain 👍🕹
At some point, I've received Borderlands, the sequel, and the prequel with the silly name for free through some giveaway or another. So I guess the combined 30 minutes or so of enjoyment wasn't really a waste.
I randomly found Borderlands 3 for PS4 brand new at a Best Buy for $10. I was so excited that the plastic is still on it years later and my attempts to give it away have all failed.
I predict that we'll see Borderlands 4 on Amazon for $30 by the end of the year.
This will be the first Borderlands game I don't buy at launch. Those prices are absolutely absurd. I can wait for the inevitable price drops AND a sale on top of them.
No thanks to all of that. I hate the monetization of games in 2025.
So he created all of that controversy about the game costing $80, only for it to cost $70??
Never change, Randy, you ridiculous man
Nah, I'm good. Don't want/need it.
A younger (BL2 era) version of me would have jumped on this pretty quick but at some point, this game will be a PSN monthly game or on Extra/Premium so while I appreciate them steering away from the $80 price tag, it's still a no.
Still too expensive.
Boredomlands more like.
lol. lmao even.
Sweet! Day one for me. Love the series (gameplay wise at least), and 4 looks like it’s making some great changes.
I'll wait for the inevitable sale and pick it up when its much, much cheaper. If I want to play a 'Borderlands' game, I have the older games I could play as a different Vault hunter, different build etc for a 'new' experience - otherwise I'm happy to wait for a decent sale price.
I'm going to wait on the inevitable sale on this one..I loved all the borderlands so far (not tiny Tina's bag o'***** one) but I'm going to wait.
It's going to be day one for me still, I will get it physical for less than £60.
After Randy's oh so well considered comments, I will be waiting until it's inevitably on PS Plus.
Thats like every big game nowadays
Everybody mad at nintendo for 80€ game, yet its comepletely fine when everyone does 130€ super doper go F yourself edition.
Id rather pay 80€ upfront and have no added BS monetisation.
(Honor to exceptions like Expedition 33👊)
@DonkeyFantasy they always do. Or at min $10 for everything
Best I can do is a promise to maybe play it on PS+, no guarantees.
Nooooooooooooope
I loved the first two games. But it has gone downhill fast from there for me. I liked what i saw of BL4. The price is fine if i really like the game. Just not sure yet.
The cynic in me wonders if the execs at 2K wanted to try the $80 price but once Randy opened his mouth, they knew the backlash would have been SO bad, even worse than it would have been, so maybe they backed off.
Who knows. Either way I am excited and cautiously optimistic that it’ll be good.
@Gremio108 And no Ava !!
@Jrs1 modern gaming doesn't capture me like it used to as well it just doesn't get me to say " this game or that game looks interesting " these days game feels too formulaic and sterile
Loved borderlands. borderlands 2 was an absolute masterpiece. pre-sequel felt like a step back and 3 felt dated with nothing new but still decent enough.
This will be the first borderlands game I'm not purchasing day 1. Feel like the franchise needs a big overhaul, if we get it then I'll play it when it inevitably comes to ps+ just as every other borderlands game to date has.
No thank you this one is worth 50,60 or 70 bucks for ppl who like the series if i was 1 of them i would spend 15,20 bucks max
All this work by Randy in defending it being $80 and then it ends up being $70.LMAO Some people really don't know when to keep their mouth shut
@MrM1075 Aye know what ye mean, it seems more creativity was available when technology was limited, kinda forced devs to think outside the box a bit more.
The only way I might play BL4 is when it inevitably appears on PS Plus (Essential) in early 2026. But even then, I'll probably have other games to play. Or I might have to alphabetize my pet food instead. Either way.
I'm actually looking forward to this game, but i'm going to wait for reviews and a sell before i buy.
I'll wait till it comes to PS Plus Essential like all the other Borderlands games
honestly 130 for the base game and 4 DLCs + 2 new vault hunter DLCs isn't bad at all. I don't know why the hate.
The preorder bonus is stupid, but thats normal. Wait for the night before release to see the reviews and still get preorder bonus.
Also I'm legitimately excited for some DLC Vault Hunters for the first time since the Pre-Sequel. BL2 and TPS both had great DLC characters and I loved all of them, from Gaige and Krieg to Jack and uhhhhh.... Hammerlock's sister, who I definitely remember >_>
@Mega-Gazz Yeah, agreed. I just preordered it. £120 is fine with me. Love Borderlands so happy to show my support.
@DonkeyFantasy true when-ever the dlc releases gamepass psplus or epic game store on pc will have it.
