The main character looks like he's wandered out of Fortnite. The art style is just a bit too contemporary for my tastes but the game looked like it could be fun
I've loved pretty much everything Firaxis have put out but just couldn't bring myself to engage with anything Marvel anymore. I'm not even that hyped for the new Spider-Man.
RDR 2's narrative didn't do it for me. Arthur's personal arc was good but pretty much everything else around it was poor. It was too unfocused, uneven and had plot holes you could drive a truck through.
I rolled with the necromancer and killed everything in sight before any of my co-op melee class mates even got a sniff of the enemies. Proper class balancing needs to be a priority.
FFXV looked great but played like ass and completely forgot to include any kind of coherent story. I'm hoping SE finally remember how to make a decent FF again.
Saints Row peaked at 2 and has declined with every entry since, this really was the last scrapings at the bottom of the barrel. What's more worrying is that Embracer has yet to put out a decent game. They've bought up pretty much everything going, with Saudi money which is problematic in itself, but without the chops to do anything with it.
I didn't mind some of the changes, beefing up Jessie's role for instance, but the last part of the game with all the Kingdom hearts 'fates' nonsense killed it for me. Also introducing all the cringe edgelord characters from Dirge of Cerberus was a massive mistake.
There's a fair few years between part 1 and part 2 thats ripe for exploring. I'd like to see them expand on the franchise with something original without racing straight into the second games story
Between this and stranger of paradise it feels square enix is a kid who's just discovered the joys of swearing but really has no idea how to do it properly yet.
The only good thing I can say about this game is it made me remember the PS2 classic Primal.
@OrtadragoonX I agree the gameplay was great and the story was decent up until the final third when they drove it over a cliff with all the cringe Kingdom Hearts fates nonsense. It killed any excitement for the follow up for me.
I can't see them moving on from P5 just yet, I bet they'll announce a proper sequel for release later this year and confirm P6 is in development but no release date.
I got burned out about 70 hours, realised I just wasn't having any fun with it anymore. There's a lot of great stuff but also a lot of reused content. I'll go back at some point.
@xeofate The opening few hours is arguably the best bit of the game, the second half is dragged out and the plot goes off the deep end. DQ11 was great, maybe too old school for some tastes though.
@KundaliniRising333 100%. Don't forget the sheet amount of superfluous dialogue. Half of the game is just the characters summarising what they've just witnessed. The writers needed their heads banging together. The final dungeons were almost unplayable as you had to stop for a chat every other room. Easily one of the most backward JRPGs I've played
It's the series s that loses £200 per sale, Microsoft has been really cagey about the series X loss leader. Both are getting price bumped in January anyway.
Microsoft may have deep pockets but they missed their gamepass growth targets by a huge margin. A few sites reporting that the xbox consoles, price of games and gamepass will all significantly increase next year as the Microsoft share holders have called time on selling at a loss.
I found tales of arise to be a massive disappointment. The first few hours are great and I wanted to love it but the story details itself and the combat grew stale.
Don't get me wrong I love JRPGs but the problem with a lot of JRPGs is that they are stuck in the past. They are still churning out the same tropes time and time again and refusing to take risks. P5 had massive success because it was willing to try something different.
Either go action or turn based, the hybrid systems have been pretty bad. VIIR was the best attempt they've had at it but it pales when held up against something like Genshin or Tales of Arise.

Re: Days Gone 2 Could Have Released 'a Month Ago', Says Game Director
And it still would have been average at best. How is this guy really that hung up on a zombie game?
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores?
Picked up HFW on ps extra. Graphics aside, it's one of the most aggressively average games I've ever played.
Re: Media Molecule to Cease Live Service for Dreams, Now Working on a New Project
It was the type of game that would have thrived on ps+.

Re: The Like a Dragon Team Definitely Didn't Get Much Sleep This Week
If only they could find the time to remaster Binary Domain!
Re: Inventive Shooter Lemnis Gate the Latest Multiplayer Game Going Offline
If this had launched on ps+ it might have stood a chance. No one in their right mind will drop money on buying a live service game.

Re: Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon Producer Talks FromSoftware's Next Epic
I like the AC series but wish they would bring back Chromehounds. That game was way ahead of its time and criminally over-looked.

Re: Final Fantasy 16 Is Already Hyping Up a Huge Year
I just hope they don't screw this up. FF deserves better than what it's been getting.

I'm getting a lot of Yakuza vibes. Nice to see Stefanie Joosten step out from under the shadow of MGSV's Quiet as well.
Re: Sonic Fanbase Heartbroken Over The Game Awards Loss
Genshin has gone from strength to strength, the Sumeru update was immense. The fanbase is dire though.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 Is Officially the First Mainline Game to Be Rated Mature, 18+

Re: EA Reportedly Writes Off Project CARS, DiRT Franchises
Dirt 5 was ok, a few issues that a bigger budget would have sorted. The series could have been a multiplatform contender to Forza: Horizon

I was excited until this weekends revelations of how poorly they've been treating their staff.

Finishing off tales of Arise and a bit of Uno and beers later
