The only thing that makes sense is the game was technically a mess. Ubisoft is exploring buyout options so they can't afford the bad publicity, or more likely the hit to the share value, of launching yet another game in a broken state and patching as they go.
Cyberpunk was an excellent game hamstrung by technical issues. Starfield's main problem is it's boring, no amount of technical polish is going to change that. Bethesda has been coasting the fumes of Skyrim for the last 15 years.
@DaPrince Exclusives still sell consoles, no matter how old they are. PS5's sales are still going strong and getting to play Sony exclusives is a large part in that. Porting to Xbox also has very little upside for Sony, it's a smaller market with gamers who don't step outside of Gamepass. The juice simply isn't worth the squeeze. Xbox is porting to PS because they are pretty much dead and buried in the hardware race, they have no choice but to pivot. Rumours of Xbox swirling the drain pretty much killed any X/S momentum, people didn't want to be stuck with a dead format so they didn't buy it. Sony would be mad to introduce that uncertainty into their consumer base, which announcing ports would almost certainly do.
Unfortunately one of the realities of the Chinese game industry is having to keep the government sweet. This isn't the first time HoYo has had to make changes. As the Chinese games scene goes form strength to strength and Saudi Arabia hoovers up any studio willing to take their blood money censorship and pushing political narratives in gaming is going to become more of an issue.
A lot of entitled whining in these comments. CDPR made the stylistic choice for 1st person, they felt it was the best way to experience the work of art they created. Begging for 3rd person modes is just crass.
@TrollOfWar probably not. It'd be a lot of work just for no one to buy them. Xbox gamers have been trained that games have no value and to never step outside of Gamepass.
@VanguardKaiser CoDs primary audience is on the PlayStation, though figures are hard to verify previous estimates have been as high as 82%. It's a disaster for MS to lose the Playstation audience as they actually have to pay for the game. The alleged lost $300m in GP sales last year and would have needed 15m new 1 month subscribers to cover the short fall. CoD's addition on attracting new subs was basically negligible.
I want this to be good but they're still obfuscating their revenue model days away from launch. The vague cosmetics, battle passes and some gacha don't cut it, these are standards of F2p and can scale from relatively innocuous to apex predator, they just need to come clean about it all. The poor technical quality, even if its an earlier build, is unexpected, its looked great in preview trailers.
That's a name I haven't heard in years. I played the demo on Demo Disc 1 but never got any of them, I'd be interested in giving them a go. The PS1 had some great fighting games, hopefully Tobal no.1 or Star Gladiator will see the light of day once more.
Being the most powerful console each generation is a marketing strategy that hasn't really been relevant since the PS1/Saturn/N64 era. Every generation Microsoft makes the most powerful console and every generation the Xbox sells even less
Hopefully the install becomes optional, I have zero interest in this. It's obviously something that felt couldn't stand on its own two feet and have bolted it onto to Genshin in the hopes there's some crossover.
Neither Skate or Dead Space really have the brand appeal to be charging those kind of prices. But if you are buying EA games you deserve to get fleeced.
Maybe I'm being cynical but without an obvious way to crowbar live service MP into the franchise Rockstar is simple not interested in a sequel or remaster
@tselliot to be fair to Genshin the story is mostly well written and is like TV seasons, each has it's own arc while also having the overarching plot slowly ticking along. Nod Krai is the beginning of the end, the plot is now drawing together and heading towards the finale.
