I expected Helldivers 2 tbh ahead of the Xbox release

This is a great month for users! Wow! Unicorn Overlord for me is enough to justify this month.

I was mostly just excited for Sword of the Sea, but EDF6, Unicorn Overlord and Atelier Ryza make this a pretty great month as far as I'm concerned.

Not a bad month actually I'm usually critical for ps plus but the last 2 months as been ok

Hopefully both RE games will be available to those that bought them on PS3, just like they did with RE Director's Cut. If that's the case, then I'll be able to get them on my PS5

Great month! Spiderman, Unicorn Overlord, Atelier Ryza 3, even Indika sounds intriguing.
One question: does my progress in the Unicorn Overlord demo carries over if I download the game via PS Plus?

Very good month. I do already own a couple of these, but there are still at least three I wanted to try out and Unicorn Overlord has been in my shopping cart for a while.. PS Plus had a few great months.

Unicorn Overlord is worth it alone imo

A very weak month in my eyes. Re-adding a game, in this case Spider-man and labeling it as one of the bigger titles will always feel like a kick in the teeth for long term subscribers that were subbed when it was first on.

Mortal kombat 1. Meh. Fine I suppose, just replaces the last mortal kombat that left earlier this year. Not in to fighting games but I recognise it's a decent title to bring in. Unicorn overlord did grab my attention, not typically the type of game I'd play but it intrigued me so that is likely the only title I'll bother to download. Thankfully, last month was a banger, gor through planet zoo and abiotic factor but still got risk of rain 2, tropico and banishers to get through so that will tidy me over.

Don’t sleep on Indika. Enjoyed it thoroughly.

Unicorn Overlord and MK1 is more than enough for me. I've been intrigued by Indika so I'll give it a go as well.

Sword of the Sea!!! This is one of the very few games I will BUY and had no idea it was going to be part of PS+. And I get to add some games to my library.

Was hoping for Jak 2 and 3 to be the Premium games this month sense Naughty Dog is celebrating their 40th anniversary.

I owned RE 2 & 3 on PS1 classic so hopefully both games will be free just like RE 1 DC and Dino Crisis.

Hopefully capcom adds trophy support for resi 2 and 3.

Owww I wonder if I get the Resident Evils free as I bought them all on PS3s PSN for £4 a while back, G-Police is or was £2 on PS3s store and i got it free on PS5 happy days

Is it that great though? Spiderman was already on the service when I finally bought my PS5. I remember it well because it was promptly removed three days later which served as a useful lesson for me in how it was going to work. Ok, you get the remastered version but it's still no exactly earth shattering. Especially when Spiderman 2 is ridiculously still almost full price. Putting that or Last of Us 2 on would be the kind of thing worth getting excited about. Also hasn't Mortal Kombat 1 also been on there before? The Resident Evils being on there is only good in comparison to how awful that tier usually is. That's exactly the standard they should be looking for every month. Perhaps I'm overly negative. But I think being easily pleased and accepting any old slop is the real problem blighting modern gaming.

Spider-Man literally came off the service not that long ago. This is so stupid, why take off first-party games then re-add them? Do they have that little options to include that they resort to this?

Unicorn overlord could be interesting given the pedigree of those involved; can’t play Atelier Ryza 3 without the first two; Indika might be worth a try if I’m in the mood for a story; Coral Island…sure, sounds a bit like My Time at Portia, which I liked; no desire to go back to old Resi games (especially as I somewhat doubt they’ll get trophy challenges given what the did with Resi Village VR).

Excellent month, lots of games I’ve almost bought or bought then traded then missed. Unicorn Overlord is a lot of fun, India’s and Harold Halibut look like great one and done games, others look interesting too.

YES!! So happy and excited Spiderman remastered for PS5 is coming. I’ve had Spiderman 2 for ages but never really got around to it, however as of recent I was thinking I should play the original Spiderman first except it wasn’t on Extra or Premium. Just randomly seeing this is good to know. Will definitely be playing Spiderman first.

I put off buying MK1 for months, I just had a gut feeling it would be on Plus soon, and here we are!

Me and my gf just finished EDF World Brothers 2 and never played EDF6 so that's awesome!

Several games here sound interesting that I've never played.

Harold Halibut is a solid game, had it on Gamepass, tempted to play it again and get the trophies in the process although it's a slow burn of a game.

RE 2 and 3 is cool too.

Capcom/Sony locked both directors cut and Dino Crisis to premium only on release and it took a few weeks of everyone complaining and wondering what drugs they were on to allow everyone to purchase them.

I'd capcom just add trophies to their games then they would sell a lot more.i remember putting in so many hours into resi 2 to get all the secret weapons.not like nowadays where u can just buy an unlock code in the store I had to use up a full PS1 memory card,finish the game 5 times with an s rank and in the alloted time.not an easy task but I eventually did it.the struggle was real back.in the day🤣😂❤️

Sword of the Sea is a Day 1 game. And most of these games (besides Spiderman) are around 1 to 2 years old. How many Day 1 games should they add this month in your opinion, for you to not consider this “old slop”?

People expect so much from a service that costs as low as $13/month.

Personally, considering there’s even a Day 1 game on it, some of the best retro titles of the PS1 generation and 12 games with a msrp worth that far exceeds the $13/month the service asks for, i think this is great value. Sure, the titles offered will always be subjective. But where you might find people are “easily pleased and accepting”, i find people who think this month is crap a bit too negative.

I’m genuinely curious, if you were to be honest (and reasonable), what type of games do you expect for $13/month?

Hopefully, I can add RE2 and 3 in my PS4 for free since I have the old versions. However, the addition of Ryza 3 baffles me, especially since the game is delisted soon.

When are they going to add a native resolution integer upscale option for the classic games? PS1 games in particular do not look pretty when rendered in high resolutions. Give me 240/480p!

@Simulated-Soul There are plenty of PS1/2 classics on the new program that didn't have trophies. Most got them added later but some still remain, with RE1 and Dino Crisis being two examples like Rocky said.

Will probably only play Sword of the Sea, but a good month overall.

Hopefully the Spider-Man releases are leading into Spider-Man 2 next month - it'll be 2 years since release and that has been Sony's window for major first party games on Plus.

Yeeeeesssss!!!! I just beat Atelier Ryza 2 on Switch so I'm stoked to have the chance to play Atelier Ryza 3 before I start forgetting the story of Ryza 2! 😻

@belmont It's delisting in November I think, which gives us about 3 months to finish the game on PS+ before it gets delisted. Which I'd assume it'll simply stay on the games library that entire 3 months.

@Simulated-Soul playstation classics seem to get a pass on having trophies. Especially at launch. Some get them added but some don't. Must depend on publisher

@LogicStrikesAgain It's really not complicated. I want to see games that I want to play. Whether or not I'm overly fussy or not is irrelevant to me. As a paying customer I find most months pretty poor. Whether a game is Day 1 or not is completely irrelevant if it's a game I have no interest in- and having just looked at Sword of the Sea that's exactly what that is. Am I being too picky? Perhaps. I'm happy for people who enjoy the service and have this massive back catalog of games they enjoy. I try pretty much every game each month and find them lacking. As a bare minimum I think games like Spiderman should be on the service and kept on it. And accepting the fact I AM rather selective about what I play I would at the very least expect some decent efforts to curate an interesting and well emulated back catalogue of old games rather than the obvious, slapdash and will this do? approach they take at the moment. Not to mention that they often look awful and play badly. Perhaps you are correct though and I am just negative because I don't enjoy gaming in general as much as I used to and it's possibly a good idea if I stopped subscribing and instead focussed on the very few titles I enjoy playing that I pay for outright.

Not bad, already own Spiderman remaster, couldn't get into it. Will try the others except those terrible Premium games. Who the hell would pay for two old PS1 games?!? Oh dammit, I do, doh Can't stand old games, oh well.

@KeAfan7 Ryza 3 was an emotional ending to the series. However, it is my least favourite game if the trilogy. The open world does not feel that good in my opinion. Still, I highly recommend the game.

People shouldn't skip Earth Defense Force 6. EDF games aren't the best looking or have the most complex gameplay, but are so much fun. And the story of EDF 6 is nuts, and one of the most complex video game stories, involving time travel and paradoxes etc.

Jacob Geller featured it in his amazing video Games That Hide Their Own Sequels ( https://youtu.be/AI-v60Q-izA?si=IKSUiUHcrfhzNloa ) i.e. games that seem like typical paint by numbers sequels, nothing special, even slightly dissapointing, except actually the TRUE sequel only starts like 80-90% through the "main" game and most people who bought it never even see the sequel since most don't reach the end of games they buy.

Like the Stanley Parable "remaster", was actually not that at all. In reality, it was Stanley Parable 2 the whole time, but you have to beat most of the game (which IS the first game) and do specific things to even ever see it.

Or Dragon's Dogma 2. The "normal" storyline is very similar to the first game and you may feel dissapointed. You literally have to BEAT the game, get the "normal" ending, to even reach the START of Dragon's Dogma 2. The game even opens with a title card that just says "Dragon's Dogma" with no number 2, which is common these days like God of War did it, where there's a sequel in the God of War series is also just called God of War. But with DD2, this isn't that. As when you finally do specific actions with specific items to finally unlock the sequel and get to play it, the game FINALLY shows a title card saying "Dragon's Dogma 2". And the sequel is a great sequel, different enough from the first to be absolutely worthwhile as a sequel instead of the initial 100 hour bait and switch supposed "sequel" that the game lied to you about and pretended it was the real game.

So probably less than 5% of people who bought DD2 ever BEGAN playing the sequel

Another is World of Goo 2 which begins feeling like just exactly what you'd EXPECT a World of Goo sequel to be like. More of the same, a handful of new mechanics, but similar puzzles to the 1st game. Again a bit dissapointing. But again the game tricks you, as the ACTUAL sequel is completely different, with hundreds of sequels in it, each a different genre, eventually becoming this crazy neo noir point and click adventure game where you're a robot, etc.

EDF 6 is exactly this kind of crazy. It contains dozens of different sequels within it, has time travel, at one point you go back in time to prevent the evolution of the invading aliens so they never evolve into existence in the first place, so the earth was never invaded in the first place.

And the gameplay of EDF 6 is like every other EDF game, simple, dumb fun.

FINALLY RE 2 & 3 are available on at least ONE modern platform. I don't want these older games to get completely supplanted by their remakes.

Really good month, I'm sticking to essential tho.
I barely even have time to play games anymore and I own the ones I do.
Would be worth upgrading tho, but since I owned these on ps3 I'm expecting to get them for free as they roll out.

Excited for Sword of the Sea, Unicorn Overlord was on my radar, and I might consider checking out MK1. The other one that piqued my interest was Indika. I heard good things, but the one or two times I looked into images/video on that game, I was very perplexed by what it actually is lol
