Have to say out of that list there's only really Returnal and Rift Apart that I've really enjoyed this year. Returnal I didn't even bother finishing either because the runs can be so much of a time sink.
Kena, for as nice as it can be was somewhat of a letdown.
Also worth mentioning that for the first time in a long time I'm struggling to say I've played more than 5 of them.
Think its time to stop spending valuable gaming time with 'live service' games like GTA and Rocket League.
2021 hasn't been the best year for gaming for quite some time. Thank god for backwards compatibility.
It would be nice if they added DualSense support for both the remote play and PS Now app on PC.
Annoying having to keep my PS4 controller which struggles with the cable popping out all the time with the port being in poor shape after all those years.
Knowing the Devs were the clowns who messed the mobile ports, no proper gameplay trailer and no review copies send out before release it was clear this was going to be a shambles.
Duly proven right.
Surprised the review here wasn't more scathing as a 20 year old game with horrific frame rate and frame pacing issues, messed up models, geometry issues, rain that's completely broken and AI upscaled textures which are broken simply shouldnt happen.
This is a rush job so that it doesn't clash with the re release of GTA V next year.
This is up there with Cyberpunk and realistically is worse given CP was a new game and this is a re-release.
@BuGGy2DaB it shouldn't thankfully because it's Rockstar who are doing the next gen version... They've let a useless studio who messed up the mobile port 10 years ago port and "upgrade" this nonsense again. That's the problem.
@Martsmall they pay top dollar for teams to point out exploits.
It's easier to an extent to poke around for vulnerabilities than it is to make the thing secure in the first place believe it or not.
@flaming_kaiser streaming/subscriptions were always going to be the endpoint.. nothing to do with crackers and all about the money.
It's kinda funny reading the comments slating folk that do this kinda thing when it's the very same kind of people who help keep products secure and generally push the tech scene further along and help make sure software is preserved.
As an example, the PS1 classic used a forked home brew emulator which wouldn't have been possible as easily without work from teams like this.
It's a difficult one but if I only had 1 choice it'd be 5 and throw in a monumental online mode (forget about the gta$) which realised a good chunk of my favourite parts of PC online mods (SA:MP and the earlier one which name eludes me now which started on vice city) and you are on to a winner.
The trilogy also is up there and it's honestly difficult to separate any of them.
3 for the utter shock launching it up and being a crisp 3d world, memorable cast and it gets an extra point purely for the fact it lay down the groundwork for the following 2.
Vice city for building on this with a nostalgic trip of a setting, characters and a killer soundtrack.
Finally, San Andreas.. this time a great 90s soundtrack and a vast open playground.
All 4 are practically inseparable in terms of relative quality.
The only reason they've done this is for accounting reasons. Makes it much easier to see and show investors how well that side of the business is doing
@Shigurui there's a difference between lazy and crunch and I know which measure I would rather take.
So what if they take their time? Or would you rather have it as a yearly subscription game like FIFA where the Devs put in as little effort as possible to get the games out the door regularly and having developers constantly being stressed with release day on the horizon?
@Integrity Im a long time Pes fan but while FIFA trys to push you down the ultimate team route you can easily avoid it by playing seasons mode and have fun. First time buying FIFA in about 7 years and I've been enjoying it for the most part.
While PES is in its current shambolic state I can't say FIFA is actually that bad.
For a full priced game, Ultimate Team is easily avoidable and the gameplay is not too bad, barring the overuse of skillmoves.
And let's be honest.. once EFootball is patched its main priority is the Ultimate Team copy.
You can't criticise FIFA and let Konami away with releasing a F2P which is only interested in the same gambling mechanics.
More or less like the previous ports its nearly a 3 year old game.
Whoever that was going to buy a PlayStation 4 to play it would have done so a fair while ago.
It makes perfect sense to release older titles on PC - bar the porting costs, its basically free money to further develop new first party titles. Plus, people who had no plans to ever buy a PlayStation now have the opportunity to play it.
You'd honestly think Sony are releasing the game at the same time as on console given some of the stupid comments here.
People who really want to play a certain game aren't going to wait 3 years on the eventual PC port on the basis of what Sony are doing.
@Bamila Looking at Reddit it seems all they are interested in is nerfing the keepers so they can score 6 goals a game ohh and making the transfer market more expensive so they can spend more money on FIFA points (its the only logical reason I can see for wanting this).
They really need to tone the finesse shots down more.
Up against decent players around 2 average per game go in. Its ridiculous and hasn't changed much from the last time I played FIFA, back in 2016.
Dont get why people moan about keepers being good though.. sure they're good 1v1 but you can score with a bit of composure.
Really hope Konami sort out eFootball because FIFA online is full of toxic kids that either quit when down 1-0 or pause and expect you to quit if they score first and constant abuse of the games mechanics - finesse shots and skills being two primary ones that annoy me.
Dont get me wrong PES has its own gamed situations but with FIFA, the abuse of finesse shots and players doing constant skill moves is ridiculous.
Any half decent player in game can basically play like Ronaldinho. Its so fake.
@lolwhatno talking about "chavs" speaking about FIFA. Going by that I'm assuming they see football as a chav sport.
A view they are entitled to but a snobby one at best.
Then hijacking the thread to talk about the death of a composer with hugely questionable values from a totally unrelated game (that ofcourse is of interest to them) not to say it's not news ofcourse but still..
@Shigurui "zero boxing skill" I hate how people only speak in absolutes.
Sure, he should get beat from Fury this weekend but that's no shame given Fury is imo the best HW in the last 20 years but other than Fury and Usyk who else is honestly better than him? AJ? Whyte? Parker? Cmon mate... Be serious.
He's not the most technically gifted and relies on power heavily but he's actually more dangerous to Fury than Usyk would be and please, for the love of God don't mention AJ.
Having bought FIFA for the first time since '15 and playing efootball the last 2 days.. FIFA still has the magnet close control, finesse shot loving, quick turning nonsense which hasn't changed a bit.
Other than the TV style presentation, it still plays nothing like a football game.
Efootball however is barely a demo and buggy but atleast when you shoot, it actually feels 'right' The passing speed etc should be easily fixable. Hopefully. The bones are there... In a way.
There's really no winners this year so far though, certainly for the folk that are left playing both of these POS games.
@Flaming_Kaiser it's no different in the UK.. lucky if you get to your 30s and have enough deposit to buy a house.
It's more younger gen would rather spend 400 quid on trainers and appear to be well off when they pull, take someone home and have to be quiet for their parents.
Tbf kids ( well not quite but still 17/18 case and point being my Mrs wee bro and has mates) who all live with their mum's on a part time wages/college yet somehow manage to spend 400 quid on their disgusting trainers. So I expect this still to sell.
Any time I see Balenciaga gear I can't help but laugh at the idiot tax they apply to their clobber.
It looks marginally better than the PS4 version at best.
If they're going to milk that cow then make gtao free to play. The mugs are spending more than enough on shark cards to justify it. And I suspect if V has relatively poor sales they'll do this anyway.
I've bought the game 3 times (PS3, PS4 and PC) I'm not buying it a 4th for what's barely a lick of paint.
New, faster cars isn't a selling point, it's merely holding back content for the sake of it.
If they're going to do anything: Combine Plus and Now. Simple as that.
If Sony plan on increasing Plus price to give us Crunchyroll and other non gaming things then i'd be considering not renewing my subscription.
As much as the other side like to go on about Game Pass and its "value for money", to me the alarm bells are ringing that quality will drop to squeeze money or titles will be half baked to gauge interest then left unfinished when they're more niche.
@RobN While I agree that people should drop the whole PS3 emulation idea (and as connections get better it'll be less of a problem anyway just using PsNow streaming) PS5 could do it if Sony really wanted to - PS3 emulation on the PC has came on leaps and bounds lately on machines less powerful than PS5. Its not perfect on the whole library by any means but a substantial portion of it can run as good as if not better (resolution bumps etc) via emulation.
Absolute farce. If they cant release a trailer to an app without having "technical issues" then what hope does anyone have they'll manage to release a game that isnt:
@BlaizeV I'll give you the rest but Shearer is a dullard that gives zero tactical insight and just points out the obvious. MOTD should have got rid of him years ago.

@TheRedComet yep.. sadly it seems that if a game doesn't sell skins and emotes then folk just aren't interested.
Re: Demo Unreal Engine 5 in The Matrix Awakens, Available to Pre-Load Now on PS5
Hoping this is a real showcase for Unreal Engine 5 - looking forward to seeing what's possible.
Pity there's no new Unreal Tournament to show it off.
Damn you Fortnite
Re: Gran Turismo 7 Dazzles with Unedited Deep Forest Raceway PS5 Gameplay
@nofriendo It'll have bonnet, in-car, roof cam and 3rd person cam.
I tend to use the roof cam in GT Sport since it gives a decent view of the track and close infront while keeping you connected to the car.
I would use the in-car cam but without VR, a lot of the dash and pillars block quite a lot of the view.
