GTA V started off originally as what 16gb? And gradually jumped up both from Online and the subsequent upgrades over the years.

This is 200gb and I'm assuming there will be a large GTA online patch too.

Although it was obvious to even an idiot like me that GP would not work under the pricing of the time (and ALL FP games day 1 especially) so it's a shocker that someone with Phils experience would go for it.

When you look at Microsoft as a whole though, everything is a subscription of some kind so you have to guess the GP decision ultimately came from Satya. It was phils job to implement it and he was set up to fail.

I can't help but feel you'll see Microsoft tilt to a strategy similar to Sony over the next few years I'm terms of GP content.

It was a pretty much feature complete game when it released, they've added free content pretty much every month since release to keep engagement high. Would you have rather they just stopped after the release and just bug fixed?

I'd also argue, since you played it so much, did you complain about GT5 having DLC/Spec 2? Unless you are counting the Power pack DLC that was paid DLC as some sort of issue I really cant see what the problem is here? Every other content update has been completely free.

Yes, I get it, discs are king but unfortunately, like PC many moons ago - discs are dying out, games are becoming really large and so the costs for shipping multiple disks aren't the most economical.

I'd understand if you had a poor connection putting you off GT7 but in reality you spend enough time on here complaining about online games and discs being killed off that clearly isn't the issue. You're missing out on what is a very good Gran Turismo game and certainly much better than Sport for single player.

Im sorry, discounts aren't a given. They dont need to give discounts if they dont want to. The whole purpose of discounts is to help flagging sales or give the quarter figures a boost.

I expect it to be the most poorly moderated platforms that get the chop and rightly so. The big 3 of social media (Facebook, X and tiktok) are completely out of control and are essentially unmoderated. They're a cancer to society. No two ways about it.

I haven't used Bluesky but from what I've heard it's night and day compared to X so that maybe explains why it's not been culled in Australia.

The list given by the Gov is the most popular apps that'll be impacted. Bluesky, threads, telegram and signal don't have the penetration to be worth mentioning at this stage as most parents have probably not even heard of them.

Naming the most popular social media like YouTube, Facebook etc will get parents attention.

Expect that initial list to grow as you get closer to the actual launch time.

You are talking definitively and hyperbolically on what's being banned and more importantly for the context of this discussion, whats not being banned.

The gov have confirmed select, common apps which will be impacted to give a taste of what's to come. The most common apps if you will which will be 100% impacted.

To be unambiguous; they've not said telegram and signal are safe from the chop and have said that they're in the phase of gathering data and looking at Australia before giving a complete day 1 list. Expect other apps like threads to get the chop as Australia have done so.

Re: Roblox, it will have to follow guidelines which means adults cant just start talking to kids also as they've said online gaming will not be removed.

Im glad the government are trying something. The toxicity online is damaging to society and unfortunately, for a substantial amount of kids, their parents cannot be trusted to monitor their activities and set boundaries.

Totally get that but at the same time you don't replace a console every 2 years either which really was the point I was making.

Those that want to jump from PS5 to PS6 would have that option to soften the financial outlay and regardless i'd expect a fairly substantial crossgen again anyway.

I mean, the price of steaming subscriptions (along with buying the games to stream as there's little chance Sony goes down a day 1 release for streaming subscriptions) long term will undoubtedly cost more than buying a console outright so £1000 or not you are going to be paying that so that doesn't mean suddenly £1000 should be a breaking point for gamers.

The easy solution to this is for Sony to go down the mobile contract route for those that cant afford the outlay to pay up a console over 2/3/4 years if people want to pay it up.

Millions survive buying £1000+ mobile phones every 2 years so what's different paying £1000 every 5-7 years for a console?

There's people obsessed with pushing this streaming future and FTTP or not, latency is always going to be a thing that will put demographics off and a decent proportion would rather have hardware in their own house.

A lower price for certain users to tempt you to buy I can just about stomach. A "just for you" offer if you will.

A higher price logged IN vs casually looking when logged out is disgraceful imo.

That suggests an algorithm that can guess what game you might be interested in and jacking up the price knowing you are likely to proceed. That kind of predatory behaviour leaves a really bad taste.

If you are crying out for an update then PS5 pro is the clear option for now if you don't already have one - PSSR 2.0 coming out this year will hopefully give those who want a bump an uplift.

There's no real sensible option for a PS6 at the moment given the perfect storm of issues

Big, first party devs haven't released a new game/IP this gen still.
RAM prices are through the roof which will massively impact the cost of any new console.
Peoples wages are not keeping up with cost of living.

Yea I've absolutely zero complaints about not getting credits. First.. we've had years of free updates and it's super easy to get loads of credits in the first place.

Sure, if you want every car in the game its a near impossible task but 750k credits isn't going to make a difference trying to collect all the 20m cars in the first place.

I'd much rather not have some credits and get all the last few years of updates without needing to put my hands in my pocket.

DF seems to suggest otherwise with a worse resolution on PS5 pro AND generally worse frame rate.

Also worth mentioning, neither console hit their target frame-rate regardless of mode with any kind of regularity either.

Hopefully patches sort out the performance issues but 40fps when targeting 60 isn't great.

I think on the last set of Time Trials (which last usually 2 weeks) around 200k players placed a time and there's plenty who don't even bother with the time trails and just play offline - so to speak - or just do daily's or Sport mode.

@Northern_munkey yea I totally get it. It's a shame cause the triggers are really good on a dualsense and gives good immersion for ABS kicking in it's just the more hardcore Sims are just too twitchy with a pad using sticks.

@Northern_munkey yes I do, used to play iRacing and GT with a wheel but with limited time I now mostly play GT7 on a pad so the rig is folded up in a cupboard.

@Nakatomi_Uk are you perhaps loading from sleep mode as it only goes through fully when it's in a powered down state.

@Keyblade-Dan there is unfortunately for the iconic PS1 launcher "Sony computer entertainment" bit anyway as that's part of the ps5 boot process and would require different firmware from the base to remove it if users didn't like it and wanted to go back to the default launcher.

There's no way you can pick and choose that at a whim. It's baked in to the firmware update released a day or so ago.

There's no reason however, not to keep the themes as they run at "run time' so can be changed at user discretion.
