Re: Gran Turismo 7's New Bonus Credits Offer Feels Cruel for Current Players

solocapers

Yea I've absolutely zero complaints about not getting credits. First.. we've had years of free updates and it's super easy to get loads of credits in the first place.

Sure, if you want every car in the game its a near impossible task but 750k credits isn't going to make a difference trying to collect all the 20m cars in the first place.

I'd much rather not have some credits and get all the last few years of updates without needing to put my hands in my pocket.

"What we can confirm, at least at launch, is that the remake mostly runs exactly as you’d want it to."

DF seems to suggest otherwise with a worse resolution on PS5 pro AND generally worse frame rate.

Also worth mentioning, neither console hit their target frame-rate regardless of mode with any kind of regularity either.

Hopefully patches sort out the performance issues but 40fps when targeting 60 isn't great.

Regardless, I will be buying it day1

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

“ is it going to be able to match Sony’s subsidised hardware costs?”

Sony hasn’t subsidised hardware since early in the ps4 lifecycle so im a little confused with that repeated claim. You might want to check earlier articles because that info was posted here. Numerous times.

@Imalwaysright "I am saying GTA is bad"

I get opinions are personal and everyone's entitled to one but that's a wild take by nearly every metric. I suggest a name change to imalwayswrong

Jokes aside. Every game it has its faults, GTA has its standout fault with its shooting mechanics and sandbox games are inherently more difficult to control but, compared to its peers with a similar scope - its head and shoulders above the rest.

Re: Poll: 5 Years Later, How Do You Feel About Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

solocapers

@MARl0 @MJF the literal definition of a remake is not the same game/movie just updated visually.

A remake is updated visuals, and can include changes to the story etc.

My take isn't "dumb" as you put it. You clearly don't understand the word remake.

Here's the first of many definitions of a remake:

"A game remake is a new version of an existing game, typically built from the ground up with updated graphics, gameplay, and sometimes story elements, while still retaining the core identity of the original. It's essentially a reimagining of the original game, often to bring it up to modern standards and appeal to both new and old players. "

Re: Another Impressive Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Update Going Live Today

solocapers

@Glorioso Its more than just alive and still very active for a 3 year old game.

I think on the last set of Time Trials (which last usually 2 weeks) around 200k players placed a time and there's plenty who don't even bother with the time trails and just play offline - so to speak - or just do daily's or Sport mode.

Re: PS5 Users Are Begging for Themes, PS1 Startup Screen to Stay

solocapers

@Keyblade-Dan there is unfortunately for the iconic PS1 launcher "Sony computer entertainment" bit anyway as that's part of the ps5 boot process and would require different firmware from the base to remove it if users didn't like it and wanted to go back to the default launcher.

There's no way you can pick and choose that at a whim. It's baked in to the firmware update released a day or so ago.

There's no reason however, not to keep the themes as they run at "run time' so can be changed at user discretion.

Re: The Novelty of PlayStation's PC Ports Does Appear to Be Dampening

solocapers

Maybe it's not the burnout of ps ports.

It's maybe the sequels mentioned are just more of the same and have lost the wow and pull factor the originals had.

I personally felt both Ragnarok and HFW were both excellent sequels but they just lacked the charm of the first titles.

Bear way to put it was that they felt like ubisoft games. Full of padding.

Both were a slog end game.

Re: Next Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Update Could Be a Big One

solocapers

@Mustoe That's good that you are sticking to your principles but the online requirement was needed as part of the deal for the FIA stuff if you believe what was behind the reasoning and you are missing out on a good GT game because of something that has little effect in reality.

Its not ideal if you are ever without internet but it is what it is.

But all the power to you for sticking to your guns.

Re: Poll: How Much Do You Care About 60fps on PS5?

solocapers

Target 60 but not essential for some games.

Some slower paced games play perfectly fine at 30. Racing games and shooters HAVE to be 60.

Oddly enough FF7 Rebirth, for a fast paced game plays brilliantly at 30. So much so that I've sacrificed the framerate for the higher res.

Re: Older Live Service Titles Take Up Over 60% of Overall Playtime, Report Says

solocapers

Back in the day it (for PC anyway) it was games like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3, which were live service titles before that buzzword became a thing due to the modding community releasing maps and mods regularly.

Point being, while Fortnite its not for me (its a pretty good game tbf, well the no build side is anyway), if kids are enjoying these games then what's the problem?

There's always going to be a market for big SP games.

Online games have always been a time sink due to their competitive nature one way or another so its no surprise to see them sitting tall for engagement.

If you went back 15-20 year when I was mostly on PC my highest engagement games would have been:

UT/UT2k4
SA:MP or whatever it was called back then (The unofficial precursor for GTA: Online)
PES Launcher to play PES games in a competitive league
CoD2

All multiplayer, live service games before when the work was done by the modders rather than devs .

The only reason its such a big thing on console since PS4 is because the online services were basic back then and developers didn't bother/didn't think they'd get away with selling/drip feeding content every month or two.

It was always on the cards when you think about it, it just took the right technology to allow it for console gaming.

Single player games arent going anywhere unless EVERYONE stops buying them.

Re: Site News: We Need You to Fill Out Our Reader Survey

Interesting question this one....
Switch 2 do you:

Own
Thinking of buying
Not interested
N/A

The whole PC hardware section is bobbins too, do you own a monitor or a mouse or a keyboard.

Intern on their first day left to create this survey?

Completed it either way but those questions made me do a double take.

Re: Lead Bungie Staff Fear 'Total Sony Takeover' After Layoffs, Delays

solocapers

Bungie is a really weird company.

First, they get bought out from MS then they manage to buy themselves back to get creative freedom then Sony buy them.

It strikes me as a leadership that doesn't know what it wants and incredibly, Sony seemingly let Bungie direct their live service drive based on their work with Destiny.

Madness.

Re: Poll: Do You Think GTA 6 Will Release on PS4?

solocapers

Nope, not a chance it launches on PS4/xbone.

PS4 is creaking as it is and for those that mention switch 2 is rumoured so will make it to PS4. Difference being switch 2 will have DLSS to upscale images using AI.

PS4 doesn't have that luxury atleast not on a hardware level.

It's not happening.
