Re: Reminder: Last Chance to Stack PS Plus Subscriptions Before Price Rise

solocapers

@iDreamwalker 60 doesn't have the same value as 20 year ago you are correct however, with scale the profit margin increases overall with more subscribers.

Think why supermarkets can outprice corner shops or car companies can drop or keep prices low when they are buying and selling in bulk.

The problem with tech companies is they want the same profit margin per user if they have 1m subscribers or 100m.

They've spent the last decade digitising their marketplace so they can start gouging in to your wallet.

They want all the money. All the time and it's only going to get worse.

Re: Poll: Is 'Live Service' Becoming an Excuse to Release Unfinished Games?

solocapers

Honestly, its not even "live service" games that are like that.

A large proportion of games these days are unfinished on release thanks to digital marketplaces largely replacing dvd/blu ray.

Just wait till subscriptions are the dominant way of getting games. You'll get titles that are broken in to chapters and released based on performance KPI's being met. Doesnt meet consumer engagement? Then chapter 1-3 is all you'll get and the rest is shelved.

Re: PS5, PS4's Superb Sim Racer Gran Turismo 7 Grows Again Next Month

@The_ghostmen The money side of it really isn't that bad. Completely optional and there's no real need to spend anything.

The only problem is the lack of actual races for certain tracks.

Some tracks have 3 or 4 races when you can easily do much more expansive track/car combos so can be a bit of a big grind for cash if you want to keep it fresh outside of the weekly time trials which are usually easy enough to get £1m coins.

@KilloWertz " but it was a great game once the PS5 version came out a year later"

Really?! It was more stable than the ps4 pro release i'll give you that, but still crashed multiple times through my PS5 playthrough in November 2022 nearly 8 months after the PS5 release. Its inexcusable to crash that often that late after release.

And that's just the quality control side. That's before we even start with the whole pointless story starting paths that really do very little.

Its a hodgepodge of ideas built on a cool visual presentation. I really wanted to like it but its by far one of the most disappointing games in a while. The soundtrack is good, its visually pleasing but the story is fairly poor after the first few hours, the cars handle like crap and the bugs are far too prevalent for a AAA game)

Its very reminiscent of most GTA clones. (to clarify im not saying its a GTA clone before anyone jumps on that) They do some cool things but ultimately lack in most important ones.

Re: Media Molecule to Cease Live Service for Dreams, Now Working on a New Project

solocapers

Those of you moaning about MM not making a game catered to the masses are the opposite reason why Sony are in the position they are today.

Dreams has likely inspired young game developers in the same way Net Yaroze did back on PS1.

Stifling creativity isn't the way to push this medium forward and I'm glad MM and Sony went down the route. My only gripe is that Sony didn't stick it on ps plus at the earliest opportunity.

Dreams was a gamble, and they've clearly had some decent ideas given Epic is about to do similar within Fortnite.

Re: PS5 Firmware Update Finally Changes How Game Discs Work

solocapers

@nyXhc420 Its for people who have purchased a disc game.

Then, months down the line either got the game via PS plus or buy a digital version and it then means they don't need to delete the disk version and download the digital one for absolutely no reason.

Not the other way around.

Its happened to me more times than I would like and has been a waste of time deleting then redownloading the exact same content.

Re: Fall Guys Level Editor Launches Alongside Next Seasonal Update

@daveofduncan I played it to death when it first came out and played it again before Christmas thank you very much.

Out of the 4 or 5 times I played over the Christmas period the lobbies barely ever filled up.

A rather odd post from you getting all salty when it's obvious that player numbers are dwindling enough to make this change in the first place. Hence the jibe about being ever popular when it's clearly on the slide.

That's no criticism for the game and as noted other games die quicker. It's always going to happen.

Re: Phantom Liberty to Boast the Biggest Budget CDPR Has Ever Allocated to DLC

solocapers

Decent game but for me it was a bit of a dud.

Story choices didn't mean much, the open world was fairly barren (sure it looked nice but little to do) and even the PS5 release was still buggy as of November 2022 when I re-played it to completion after giving up on the PS4 pro version which was a shambles.

Celebrity appearances do not make a good game.

Re: 37 PSVR2 Games Confirmed for Launch Window as Sony Posts Full List

@InternetUser

I know your post is bait but why would Sony release a VR headset that probably just about breaks even to then sell it on an ecosystem they wont make any money on?

You do realise regardless, if you want to use PSVR 2 on PC along with having lots of choices for headsets already on PC, someone will reverse engineer it anyway and create software that makes it compatible.

Re: Oculus Founder Palmer Luckey 'Blown Away' by PSVR2

@KaijuKaiser his statement means little in reality. Him saying it's nice isn't going to get people buying it lets be honest other than the hardcore which will already know well about it.

It's the casuals that will make PSVR2 live or die.

It's also worthwhile highlighting the leaning of his and his family members views (see his sister married in to a lunatic) that are abhorrent.

The reason it's often brought up with conservatives rather than liberals or as I am, centerists is because their views are usually the ones causing harm, pulling up the ladder behind them and convincing the general public to eat crap and it's some easy targets fault to blame.

Re: US Government's FTC Will Attempt to Block Microsoft's Activision Buyout

@HunterRose there's a huge difference from buying insomniac and Microsoft buying a whole publisher. Let's not conflate the two as equal.

Insomniac also didn't have the Spiderman licence it's also worth noting which I'm sure you know about both points.

Worth saying I'm not for all the studios being bought up by both Sony and Microsoft but your points are scraping the barrel.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Will Get a Game of the Year Edition on PS5

solocapers

After playing the PS4 pro version for about 10 or so hours and giving up because of the performance I played it again a few months back and finished it off on PS5.

Much better performance (still crashed a few times tbf) but it's still far from a GOTY.

The world is largely dead when you open your eyes a bit, game choices don't mean much to the story in all honesty and the driving side of the game is pretty poor.

Graphics and decent voice acting don't make a GOTY. The game largely falls on its ass as soon as Jackie's portion of the game is done.

Even though the game is in a much better place now you can really tell the game went through development hell.

Lots of decent idea's lost in a sea of mediocre.
