We all know PS Portal has proved a massive commercial success, offering a convenient way to enjoy PS5 games around your home via streaming.
But bizarrely, Sony’s own proprietary Remote Play method pales in comparison to PX Play, an unofficial alternative which is getting a big update on PC, Mac, and Linux.
Currently we use the Android-based version on our Retroid Pocket, and it genuinely delivers a superior experience to the PS Portal.
While the mobile build isn’t supported in this new update just yet, anyone with a PC-based handheld like a Steam Deck may want to pay attention.

Among the new features, which you can demo for free, is support for 4K video, dramatically reduced latency, and decreased CPU overhead. So, in layman's terms: faster, more responsive gaming at higher resolutions with a smaller computational footprint.
Feedback is already remarkable, with users describing it as an “amazing update”.
Seriously, we can definitely vouch for this software – it’s superior to Sony’s own solution, and well worth trying if you’re in the market for a PS Portal-style experience but own a different kind of PC-based handheld.
Hopefully some of these updates make their way to the Android version eventually too, which is already excellent in its own right.
