I find every single screen I see of this game absolutely overwhelming to look at. I'm not the target audience though, and there's no shot I'll ever buy this, but damn. Can we not just fight.
I'm into the idea. But with it only being PlayStation first party and not just a generic 'games on PlayStation' thing... I mean, I could hum the Uncharted theme, and I know the God of War main song, but unless PaRappa the Rapper gets up on stage and does a rap there's not much to pay to see here. It's not exactly Final Fantasy or Persona or Yakuza is it?
Game Pass numbers have never added up. It was always an attempt to brute force success by providing a deal so ridiculous that only a company with near limitless funds could afford to keep it going while they gathered the number of subscribers to make it economically viable. It hasn't happened. This is the obvious result.
I liked Persona 3 Reload quite a lot. It's basically Persona 3 with some nice new bits and some QOL improvements. Hopefully they just do the same with Persona 4. I would imagine they'll keep the Golden stuff since Golden is way more important to Persona 4 than the extras were in 3. Golden is also the way a lot of people played the game the first time around.
Also I don't think they really need to do anything with the story. Story is great as it is. Doesn't need to be any longer - or not much longer anyway, and it doesn't really need anything cutting. Just make it pretty, add some new nonsense into it, we're solid.
I mean, it makes sense. If I was working there I'd be bracing for it. EA wants FIFA, Madden, and live service dollars. Even at their top dollar best BioWare wasn't that, and those days are long gone. Hopefully someone else buys them or something, because otherwise I'd imagine they're in trouble.
Pachter is a legend. He's been making silly predictions for ages and people still keep giving him the time of day. He's like a Sasha Baron Cohen character saying stupid things to people for an upcoming movie. He's gonna pull the mask off at some point and we're all gonna be like oh no that guy.
They need to stop adding things to this. I keep thinking about replaying it but I keep getting put off thinking they're going to add yet more stuff the week after I play it. It never ends!
It was weird. It didn't move the needle at all for me. Yeah, grizzly fella stabbed a few people. I'm not down on the game. I'll definitely play it. Why not? I like the Spider-Man games. Insomniac is great. But this is very much one of those games I'll just play at some point and probably like but I have zero hype for and I still don't after seeing it.
Wait, this isn't a gacha? I always thought it was. Wild that they don't seem sure how they're going to make money from it yet. Although I do like buying digital hats and t-shirts and stuff so that's a trap.
I've never really understood the idea behind exorbitant collector's editions for games that have no history. Like, how does anyone know they're a Crimson Desert superfan at this point? I get it when you're like 18 Yakuza games deep and they're like here, give us an extra £100 and you can have this ridiculous statue and a selection of character themed pogs or whatever. We're in deep. We know. We'll buy anything. But this is like trust us guys, you're gonna love this. Pay up.
I'm worried about the third part of the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy because it's being made by the same people who made the first two games in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy.
Weird decision considering how well Forza Horizon 5 is selling on PS5. I wonder if they're still holding on to some period of exclusivity for some delusional reason or if this was down to resources.
It was alright. These things are never going to blow anyone away without surprises, big new announcements, etc. This one was mostly updates on things we knew about already and that's fine if they look good and they did.
There was plenty of claret in Wolverine which is nice I guess. I don't feel like I can get excited about a Wolverine game. Saros looked exactly like I thought it would, which is coincidentally exactly how I wanted it to look. More Returnal. Presumably with better roguelike progression less dependent on gittin' good. That's fine. I liked Returnal as it was but I get people didn't like that they didn't get stronger between runs.
Otherwise, yeah. Some stuff. I actually can't remember what they showed except Deus Ex and Dynasty Warriors and it was only last night.
I predict that the State of Play will be fine and the comments under the "What did you think of the State of Play?" article will be everyone saying it was the worst thing ever.
Every now and again I think about replaying Stellar Blade. It's got a great vibe. Not sure what it is. Some combination of the music and the setting really works. I like being there. But then I see a thing like this and I think I might as well hold off and see what else they add.
I'm fine with them changing the faces and voices because I absolutely hate it in Yakuza 3 when you're walking around with that fella and he keeps shouting "ANIKI!" every four seconds. Unless the new guy also does that. In which case we all lose.
The most important thing is whether or not they've changed Yakuza 3's mediocre hostess club mini-game and made it more like Yakuza 0/Kiwami 2's amazing hostess club mini-game. Haven't watched the video yet so I don't know, but fingers crossed.
Nice to see Saros. I absolutely loved Returnal so hopefully it's more of that. Otherwise I don't really care. I want Final Fantasy IX Remake or something Yakuza or Persona 6 or one of the things I like. Since that probably won't happen, seeing another dumb live service thing or another superhero game or another thing that looks exactly like Dark Souls but worse... I don't know. Kinda lost interest in these things.
This isn't much of a rewards scheme. Finishing a game you bought for seventy notes and then shelling out another thirty on a shirt? Why even bother with the trophy shenanigans? Just sell the damn merch. This is just a store that's unnecessarily complicated.
I mean, if I cared enough about graphics/performance to spend seven hundred notes on a video game console I'd probably feel shortchanged if it had worse graphics/performance. But I don't. So I never bought one.
This is amazing news. I love the story and the world of 3 but it is a bit of a chore to play because of the dreadful combat in that one. Didn't stop me spending a disgusting amount of time getting the platinum in it, but still, I'd love to have a beautiful, PS5 Kiryu adventure in Okinawa and beyond.
This also gives me hope that we'll also get all singing and dancing Kiwami versions of 4 and 5 too. Why not? Kiwami everything.
I imagine they'll be sticking with calling it a State of Play regardless of whether it's bigger than normal or not. The last showcase was a bit of a stinker, and calling it a showcase just raises people's expectations too much.
I'm sure it's really annoying and I do feel sorry for them, but it's not really anything to do with Team Cherry. It's not their responsibility to help other games get seen.
Still, I'm sure he's just speaking out of frustration. And I get it. They've spent time picking a date, doing their marketing, etc. only for a game with an already established fanbase to pull the rug out from under them because they've got the luxury of releasing whenever the hell they want. Gut punch.
I've been expecting the Final Fantasy IX remake to get announced at basically every event for the last five years and I've been disappointed every single time. I keep believing though.
Bit weird to remake this without touching the first one. Is there some Danganronpa weirdness going on here? Is the new content going to continue the story in some way? I don't know. But I love this game so I'll bite.
If you actually care about the industry and follow what's happening and you're not looking at it through the lens of 'this console good because it's the one I have' fanboyism, Gamepass has always been deeply troubling. I get the value. That's obvious. But if a deal is too good to be true it usually isn't. And consumers who are winning now will end up losing in the long term.
I really, really like Metroidvania games but I actually found Hollow Knight quite boring and struggled to get into it. So no, I'm not playing this one. I'll probably give the first one another go at some point and then if I like it, yeah.
Seems I'm in the minority here, but I'm into this and it's one of the few SOP's dedicated to a single game I'll actually watch. What's the point in a Ghost of Yotei one? Samurai, swords, we know. We played the first one. Just give me it. Borderlands 4? Let me guess: I run around shooting things and someone is doing some wisecracks? Okay.
But this is a true mystery. Seeing how it ticks will actually be interesting. I'm into it. They should do these for new IP/games we know nothing about.
