For a game that's quickly closing in on its fifth anniversary, Cyberpunk 2077 sure does get a lot of updates, doesn't it?
Following on from Patch 2.3, which dropped back in July, Patch 2.31 has just arrived out of nowhere. But before you get too excited, this is very much a 'fixes' update, addressing a list of mostly minor issues.
Still, there are some welcome improvements here, including adjustments to the AutoDrive system that was introduced in the previous patch.
As its name suggests, AutoDrive lets you cruise around Night City in an automated vehicle of your choosing. It works with (almost) any car or bike that you own, but its implementation could be a bit wonky, with the vehicle occasionally stopping in the middle of the road to make turns, or struggling to avoid objects on the designated route.
This update sounds like it'll make the whole experience way smoother, which is obviously good to hear.
Meanwhile, photo mode has been given yet another upgrade, boasting a few tweaks that should have budding photographers diving straight back into the edit menu.
Oh, and holy sh*t, they actually added an option to disable the game's vignette filter. We never thought we'd see the day...
Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.31 Patch Notes
Vehicles
- Updated AutoDrive. When driving to a selected point, the vehicle now drives smoothly, overtakes blocking vehicles, and no longer stops at traffic lights. Free Roam mode has also been upgraded to follow traffic rules and navigate the city more reliably.
- Fixed an issue where Johnny always spawned in the passenger seat when using the Delamain Cab service.
- Fixed an issue where applying CrystalCoat to the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru caused its wheels to flash in different colors.
Photo Mode
- Most of the new poses introduced in Update 2.3 now work with any gender.
- Disabled NPC collision, which will make it easier to position NPCs on top of other objects with collision (e.g. on car hoods).
- Fixed an issue where some of the poses didn't work for Royce.
Quests & Open World
- Freedom - Fixed the journal entry that appears when the player chooses not to steal the Rayfield Caliburn "Mordred."
- Motorbreath - Fixed an issue where, after V fails to pursue and stop Semimaru and receives a text from River saying he'll contact V soon, the follow-up message never arrives.
- Motorbreath - Fixed an issue where, after V fails to pursue and stop Semimaru and receives a text from River saying he'll contact V soon, the follow-up message never arrives.
- Motorbreath - Fixed an issue where the Yaiba Semimaru could flip over during the chase, preventing the player from entering it.
- Motorbreath - It's no longer possible to trigger the quest if River died during The Hunt.
- Motorbreath - Players can now acquire the Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru through AUTOFIXER even if they failed The Hunt, which normally unlocks the side quest where the vehicle is obtained.
- Nitro (Youth Energy) - Fixed a game crash that could occur in certain circumstances after leaving the Yaiba showroom event.
- Nitro (Youth Energy) - Fixed an issue where the proxy interface UI in the Yaiba showroom is cut off when the "Larger HUD Elements" setting is enabled.
Miscellaneous
- Fixed several localization and lipsync issues in various languages.
- Added a toggle to disable vignette. It can be found in Settings → Graphics → Basic.
- Fixed an issue on PC and Mac where Ray-Traced Reflections might not display correctly when enabled under certain conditions.
- Fixed several issues with displaying text messages from Delamain.
- Various fixes for fluff vendors.

I think I am giving up on waiting for a PS5 Pro patch and just start playing the game to actually finish it...played it on launch for quite a bit but never managed to reach the ending.
@AFCC If you're yet to play the game I'd be tempted to wait until the fifth anniversary, which is this December.
There's been no guarantee that another update is coming, but at this point, I'd be very surprised if something wasn't being worked on for the big occasion.
Did it remove the post launch censorship?
Nice, always good to see Cyberpunk receiving support
And with that, I fear it's too late now for us to get a pro update which is a real shame, also can CDPR please go back to their Red engine as it's way better then UE5.
I've played Cyberpunk six times and I didn't know about the vignette filter until I read this.
@Oram77 @AFCC
Im sure I remember that, whilst there is no developer Pro enhancement, DF found it pretty well improved on Pro, particularly if you have 120hz. Probably keeps to a much higher res if a dynamic scale is being used, but I cant remember the details.
It may be that at this stage they are waiting for the major Pro update coming early next year which will update PSSR with FSR4.
@Oram77 - I presume when you talk about UE5, you are meaning for Witcher 4?
@Rich33 pretty curious how this will all turn out with the PSSR update next year and if we see updates for all these games with a mediocre PSSR image quality like Outlaws, Jedi Survivor, SH2, Alan Wake 2, … of it the games will remain in their current state.
For CP2077 honestly I don’t have that much hope that they will give this game a proper pro patch. There is just a very low level support and the game uses the Red engine which is more or less abandoned by CDPR, but let’s hope for the best.
@Reeneman
Most of the games you mention I think have been concluded to be pretty low-effort implementations of current PSSR, that could have been significantly improved with a bit more work.
Given this, and as the new FSR4/PSSR2 (whatever it gets called lol) needs patching in, I doubt that we will see many on that list updated.
1 exception might be SH2 as they still haven't issued the proper Pro update, say they are still working on it, and may just be waiting for the update.
I suppose SWJS may get an update as well. With all the issues that surrounded this game at launch (forced pointless RT leading to serious performance issues that took 6 months to remove despite a toggle on day 1 PC), and their shoddy work on Pro (adding back in pointless RT), their reputation is pretty low, and they are working on a part 3 so could do with some good headlines.
RE CP - I don't know either way, but I certainly wouldn't expect a 'formal' Pro Enhancement until the update is added (if, as you say, at all).
I adore this game and love cyberpunk themes in general so I'm biased, but I finally moved on from this. Too much new stuff to play. I can't wait for the sequel though which is probably an eternity away. I just have a bad feeling about CDPR going to UE5 for their next games. And the RED engine gave this game its own charm
Very happy to see the Nitro quest crashing fixed. Took me 3 tries to do since it kept crashing shortly after leaving the showroom.
Best game ever with the witcher, i wish there was a board game like gwent in it but more futuristic digital cards.
And the new game plus that we all wish for... nothing. Thanks cd p. Tnx! Its me being ironic ok!
@AFCC Exactly the same.
Started on launch on a base PS4, but it was such a mess, that now I’m waiting for a PS5 Pro patch to play the game in a shape it was supposed to come out 5 years back 😅
I really, really, REALLY hope we get a PS6 version down the line. Heck, I’d pay for it full price.
I platinum’ed the game well before the big update 2.whatever and had an amazing time. I expected CD Projeckt Red to go “The Witcher 3” route with a complete edition which includes the DLC and… a brand new trophy list.
Now, I understand I can play the DLC and all… no worries. But Cyberpunk 2077 was a slam dunk candidate to be a double platinum game. I refuse to auto-pop trophies so I would’ve had a clean playthrough. I’m torturing myself for no reason. This is a me problem, not a CD Projeckt Red/Cyberpunk 2077 problem
@4fold Oh, who forced the developer to change something? Missed that.
@LikelySatan
Who knows? Societal trends and the PR department most likely.
Or maybe they decided to put loads of work into a game for years, advertised heavily before and at release that it would not be censored due to the narrative and feel of the world being what they intended, and then just…changed their minds.
Doubt it though.
The simple truth is that devs are not allowed to comment on such things.
@4fold I'm not sure why this seems so conspiratorial. Either they released a game, then went back and changed content because of pressure from authority or they didn't do that. I have a feeling CDPR can say what they want, but reptilians may have infiltrated the studio.
@LikelySatan
They clearly did. Our definitions of “authority” may differ, but it’s clearly what happened.
I’m not sure what you are considering as conspiratorial. If it’s that devs, or other members of a company, are told not to comment on censorship then that’s a fact with many confirmed examples. As well as just being a logical requirement of a company censoring their own products.
@4fold so CDPR are one of those examples?
@mrmartinrohr I wish they would do this, but they have no plans for a ps5pro patch. Would be great to play ray tracing mode but at the high frame rates. Ray tracing mode is so choppy, makes me ill when you pan the camera, but man it looks great
@LikelySatan
Well, it was not mentioned In the patch notes for the guilty patch, so you decide on whether the company wanted the devs to be open about it. I wasn’t there so can only infer like you. But I’m not sure what point you are trying to make. I think you might be one of those pedants who argue only governments can censor, or one who likes to hide censorship behind the “the devs just changed their minds” cop out, but apologies if I’m wrong.
@4fold ..."the company" as in the devs, or? Just because you want to use sensational language doesn't mean it's fitting.
@LikelySatan
No, that’s why they were separated in that sentence. A development studio is not only more than the devs, but the devs are very rarely in control of the company. I think you are deliberately misunderstanding, so I’m out of this “conversation”.
@4fold uh huh. The point is "the company" IS the devs.
