Good God, Crimson Desert's PS5 Collector's Edition Costs a Whopping $280

It's a great way to not sell any

I was afraid it would be expensive, thank God it isn't.

Steelbook, cloth map and cards, plus game for £80 or the game for £55 is not bad pricing.

I mean, i'd prefer to have the whole thing, but, being a complete unknown of a game, I guess i'll pass. If this was The Witcher 4 and £250 for game, statue, map and steelbook i'd not bat an eyelid 🤷‍♂️

"Yes it does contain the actual game" it's so sad it has come to a point where it needs to be bullet pointed....

Ghost of Yotei is 250$, and doesn't offer the game on disk, because Sony... 30$ more doesn't seem that far off. You can be certain it will sell very well.

£55 for the game? Fair pricing in 2025/26?! How rude of them!

@Oram77 it can be an annoyance if you have the digital only console. In that case a digital code is welcome as anyone can use that. They should maybe offer the choice at this point, as the landscape is what it is with a lot of folk having digital consoles and games rarely being fully playable on the game disk anyway. I guarantee this game will have about 3 massive patches before it works, too 🙃

@Ravix Oh no I didn't mean the game not being on a disc, as you said some people have digital consoles, I was talking more about the collectors edition of FF Tactics that doesn't come with the game at all!!

Edit: I will admit I'm a sucker for a good Steel book though (looking at Silent Hill f 👀)

@PsBoxSwitchOwner Flight Sim could be a bit different. These map upgrades are massive, and people happily spend their money.

For the other games though: If there’s a market, it will fly. And it seems that there are enough people willing to spend. Nobody is forced to buy this stuff!

"would you pay $280 / €280 / £250 for a Collector's Edition of the game?" well... you could ask that question with every single collector's edition of the PS5 era. At least, this one has a physical copy of the game, not like the Sony Studio's for similar price...

No I’m not paying £250 for it.
I’ll buy the standard physical version unless they do the deluxe edition physically as well.
I’m not sure if I’ll be getting Crimson Desert or Saros day one since they are both out too close to each other I’d be only getting one of them day one

Its a brand new IP that hasn't had a chance to resonate with fans yet. Nobody knows what any of this stuff is and how its relevant to the story. Why would they even do this even if it was affordable? And what if the game comes out and is in a state as bad as cyberpunk? Then how would people feel about that price tag?

Baludurs Gate III CE was $260 (278) in todays money with inflation and didnt include a physical game or steelbook

@Pat_trick no such thing as fair prices for our gaming hobby which is a luxury. Games should cost more so that my fellow programmers and engineers can stay employed with good compensation.

@Vaako007 That's the wrong assumption. The reason programmers and engineers are not paid well is because of greedy bloated corporations. Look at Hello games and smaller studios. Games are expensive because publishers are greedy.

I'd rather have a game that is smaller in scope and cheaper than a bloated overpriced AAA mess.

The solution is not the increase of game prices, it's the reduction of size and scope of projects.

@Dragoon1994 The funny thing is i started with FF8 and i loved it so much i bought FF7 and Final Fantasy 9 was brilliant i liked 10. I liked FF 12 untill i found out that i could not find a Final weapon because i openend a chest and i was 30 hours in and that made me drop the game.

If it was a beloved franchise and was the second or third game, then maybe but for a game which no one truly knows if its any good, that price tag, is way to expensive to even consider.

Is $300 a lot? I spend $500 for ff7 rebirth i think it was the sephiroth statue.

Sheesh how much? The LN3 Mirror Edition was as high as my wallet would allow this month!
