Sony has confirmed a new PlayStation rewards program that's available starting today, named Franchise Rewards. Tied to your PS5, PS4 Trophy completion in the first drop, you gain access to exclusive merchandise based on the biggest PlayStation games.
The first batch offers a pin and a t-shirt inspired by Ghost of Tsushima. As long as you've completed the campaign in either the base game or the Director's Cut, earning the Mono No Aware Trophy, you can log into your PSN account on the Ghost Rewards website and purchase the t-shirt. If you want the pin on top, you need to earn the Platinum Trophy.
The t-shirt costs $30 and the pin is $25, with shipping available in the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe (EU, Monaco, Norway and Switzerland), and the UK. Get a look at the two pieces below:
You need to have earned the qualifying Trophies by 31st December 2025 to unlock the ability to purchase the items, and then you have until 31st January 2026 to buy them or not. Of course, if you've already got the Trophies needed, you can simply log into the website and purchase them straight away.
Later this year, Franchise Rewards will be expanded to also include Ghost of Yotei merch. Sony is in the process of killing off PS Stars, its digital rewards program, so offering something physical in this manner sounds like a good compromise. It's a bit of a letdown you have to pay for it all, though. Some free rewards would have surely been worthwhile alongside the paid products — particularly as PS Stars heads for its grave.
Do you like the sounds of this new program and the associated Ghost of Tsushima merch? Let us know in the comments below.

I thought I was getting some thing for free
Like the My Nintendo programme with silver coins.
Oh well.
We lost Playstars Stars for this? Yikes!
This isn’t an improvement. With PS Stars I could earn $5 gift cards to spend towards things I wanted. Now I get the privilege of earning the ability to give them money for merch. Yay! I’m being “rewarded”. Seems like we are funding a reward system for Sony, not the other way around.
A "rewards" program in which you're rewarded the privilege to buy merch? Awful. Can't believe they got rid of Stars for this.
I prefer the old scheme where i could earn money off towards games i would buy in the future instead of the opportunity to spend even more money to buy tat.
The only one getting rewarded is Sony. First you need to buy a game to get access to merchandise. Then you can give them even more money to buy the merchandise at a ridiculous price.
Not really a rewards program then. Its a store selling items for the same price as the game itself.
I like something for getting trophies, but won’t be buying tat. I’m willing to pay postage and packing for my platinum reward, if it’s good in itself, but this money is crazy (Get me an Astro bot figure or something and i might consider it). I wouldn’t really call the chance to purchase something a reward though.
Gatekeeping a merch store? Bold move, let's see how it goes for them ...
I like the pin idea, it is like a physical trophy, but $25 is crazy
@4fold now that is a great idea, an exclusive astrobot figurine for a reasonable price!
They should go with mandatory pay monthly to play singleplayer games. They do it fo multiplayer so... Oh, oh! They should also require subscription if you browse the web on console
I mean the pin does look pretty neat. But not a fan of how they are marketing it as "rewards". It just feels like they are gatekeeping merch. Would have been a better spin if they just released the merch to buy and you can grab a discount on them if you have completed the game and/or platinumed it. Would have made it look better in my eyes at least.
Wait…I need to “earn” the ability to BUY these?? Hahahahaha get beeeeeent
This isn't much of a rewards scheme. Finishing a game you bought for seventy notes and then shelling out another thirty on a shirt? Why even bother with the trophy shenanigans? Just sell the damn merch. This is just a store that's unnecessarily complicated.
…So where’s my “reward”?
Who thought this was a good idea.
I really do unironically love the idea of unlocking something physical for getting a platinum trophy. It sounds neat. I would even be willing to front the shipping cost out of my pocket, like the My Nintendo Rewards program. I'd pay $6 to have a shirt and pin sent to me, sure.
......but $55? Plus shipping, so over $60? Practically no one is going to go for this, so it will be shut down within a year and a half. Which honestly makes me sad, because again: it's a neat idea! Just...really, really, REALLY poorly thought out.
For once, I'm kind of glad my territory is ignored (yet again) for this type of warped idea of a Rewards Program.
I like the general idea but since this is PS Direct, I won't have access to it anytime soon.
Edit: Wait, nvm, this is separate from Direct
I'll give them 10 seconds to include an actual reward alongside this "exclusive merch store" before telling them they are dumb f***s
...
They are dumb F***s
How gracious of PlayStation to allow us to purchase overpriced merchandise! Did Viva la Dirt League come up with this idea?
If you actually got the rewards for free after getting a platinum for Ghost of Yotei or something, this would be awesome. But the fact that you actually have to pay for everything means that this is a scam.
So your reward is the ability to purchase something. Lovely.
Another Black Mirror episode
@Whyarewestillhere Liam apparently...🤣
Gatekeeping merchandise? This is awful.
Additionally I LOVE video games - 4 decades with thousands of games bought and played attests to this - but I don't base my whole persona around them, and don't typically wear gaming merch. What is there for fans like me? This is no reward.

100% accurate unfortunately.
What a lame ass rewards program
Lmao why are they so full of baffling decisions this gen
The design on that tshirt does not read at all. Terrible, terrible piece of art. I have a ghost t-shirt and the platinum trophy, I certainly will not be buying this
Can remember when seeing if you completed GTA Vice City 100% completion it gave Tommy Vercetti a joke t-shirt to wear....now we see Sony not only having shut down the PS Stars program (which was being majorly nerfed not including rewards points for subbing to PS Plus anyways), but locking "loot" purchases behind trophies?!🤯
Not forgetting the multiple hardware & PS Plus price hikes,(esp.in the regions ala Down Under, EU etc.),no discounts for resubbing to PS Plus Essential anymore in sales like Days of Play, Black Friday etc., a generally lacklustre PS Deluxe/Classics releases with little Third Party support, & departures of the likes of Shuhei Yoshida or anyone that'd publicy engage with its audience.
Not exactly putting a great case forward for buying next gen when they've been hopelessly tone deaf this generation!🙄
Thanks but no thanks. Pure horsecrap.
Screw you guys, I'm getting the pin. It's like a Super Bowl ring!
"You need to have earned the qualifying Trophies by 31st December 2025 to unlock the ability to purchase the items"
So I have to buy a game to unlock the trophies that then allows me the "privilege" of being able to give them more money.
Who exactly is being rewarded here?
I managed to get around £50 credit over the course of PlayStation stars. A really cool addition for those who could be bothered to look at the hidden away objectives on the mobile app. It was a bit flawed having to just download a game, launch it, then delete it right away.
A rubbish rewards scheme vs the old one, let's be honest here.
@StrifeInMidgar why give people 4% cashback? If you can push them to spend even more
"The t-shirt costs $30 and the pin is $25, with shipping available in the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe (EU, Monaco, Norway and Switzerland), and the UK"
Why there's no shipping to Southeast Asia? Sony, i'm pretty sure there's plenty of PS owners here in SEA.
Oh well, i had the Platinum trophy and the pin looks nice. But Sony didn't want me to buy it. Meh i guess 🤷♂️
A gamer T--shirt of dubious quality for a meager 40 euros incl shipping. Brings a new meaning to the word Reward.
Paystation. For the payers.
This exemplifies Sony. Good fans get the opportunity to spend more money.
This is what Sony has become. Opening a merch shop and calling it a rewards plan is laughable push Square.
just use Microsoft rewards and use that to buy PlayStation stuff a way better scheme
Microsoft rewards paid for my ps5 console
I don't care about merch. I don't care about limited-edition, collector's only garbage. I want discounts on games. Anything else is frivolous and stupid, imo.
Also, whoever greenlit this should be reassigned to a different job. With a different company. In a different field. On another planet.
So we get rewards with the ability to buy PlayStation product, how lame is this "reward" program
Having to adhere to a completionist approach to video gaming in order to earn the privilege of paying 30 dollars for a 1 dollar T-shirt?
Unbelievable....
Destiny 2 players should recognise this.
How many trophies do I need to have the privilege to kiss some Sony exec’s guilded arse?
A good compromise? We're playing for the privilege of paying for merch. That sucks and no amount of spin is going to make it comparable to PS Stars.
Where are the rewards? All I saw was a store.
Sounds exactly like Bungie Rewards. Can't see many going for this tbh but bungie rewards has been like this for years and still going so maybe people like merch. I for one won't bother.
So now its PLAY to PAY. I always thought it was the other way around xD
So the reward is having the right to buy overpriced t-shirts lol. One area where Xbox/MS definitely trounces Sony/PS is with rewards, this is quite lackluster
this is 100% gatekeeping merch...but I kind of love it. You can only rep a game if you've proven that you enjoyed it enough to beat it and then get the plat. Thats some hardcore gamer energy and I dig it
Who's getting rewarded here?!?!?! Not us, the players. It's Sony because we get the 'reward' of an opportunity to give them more of our money. What brain dead executive over there thought this one up and who are the idiots that approved it??? How about actually rewarding us with FREEBIES of some kind for us already spending our hard earned $$ with you? IDIOTS.....
Removed - offensive remarks
So...the reward is I earn the right to give Sony more money for the opportunity to let the world know I'm both a sad trophy-hunting loser and a moron with more money than sense?
Heck Sony, where the hell do I sign?
The reward is getting the opportunity to pay them for egregiously overpriced tat. Wow, thanks sony. Generosity knows no bounds.
Will there be some kind of waiting list in place? I'd hate to get stuck in a giant queue to purchase this...
Lol this is so dumb. Horrible replacement for Stars. 🤦♂️
IMHO no free stuff for avid players makes the program pointless for gamers.
I don’t see the point for Sony either. Why not just sell what appears to be full priced merchandise to whoever wants it rather than tying it to a trophy?
This is a terrible replacement for what we had. Playstation Stars was an okay program, but they didn't do enough with it.
Getting the Tsushima platinum gives you the reward of: being able to spend $25 on a pin. Is the shipping at least free? lol
I wish more games gifted PSN avatars as rewards. I remember the Persona 5 platinum got me a couple Velvet Room ones (I still use the V logo one) and a PS4 theme. That's a good way to reward trophy list completions.
@Oram77 exactly.
For those that don't know, this is exactly what Bungie have been doing for years - complete X, Y and Z, and be rewarded with the ability to buy something exclusive.
This is Sony taking note from Bungie, and I don't see it doing well.
@8thDoctor No the shipping isnt free haha. In Europe the pin is €28 and the shipping €9, so a total of €37 for a pin. Amazing "reward".
That's super cool. Take away a program where Sony gave us something for buying and playing games to us paying Sony for shirts. 🤣
Eek. No thanks. Bring back Stars!
F this S, it's only to trigger fomo and is a bad look, overall. A really Nintendo kind of move by Sony. No thanks.
@Nalim damn, this is just an awful deal all the way.
this is getting ridiculous
Boy am I glad to see the comment section united in disgust over this. A truly horrid decision by Sony.
Sorry the reward is allowing you to buy something? 🙈🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now I'm even more annoyed, I only had a few hundred points to get £5 free credit, and to replace it with this has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
