Silent Hill 1 Remake Now a Big Focus at Bloober Team, Could Make Cronos 2

In Bloober we trust 🙌 From SH2R and Cronos, they really are showing us what they are capable of.

However I have also heard rumours that Konami could be in talks about acquiring Bloober and I'm really not sure how I feel about that...

CRONOS: The New Dawn is GOTY for me thus far in ‘25. Sure the game borrows HEAVILY from Dead Space and blends it with Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but it’s somehow its own thing and absolutely brilliant. Definitely looking forward to a sequel in the next few years! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

I absolutely love how much better Bloober's games have become since SH2R. That classic Japanese horror game design mix of exploration, puzzles, and combat is just so much more satisfying than dull Western walking sims where you run and hide from enemies the entire game.

Anyway, Silent Hill 1 is possibly my favorite survival horror game of all time. The sense of atmosphere is unmatched. While I feel like it'll be more challenging to realize successfully in a big budget remake, the potential for improving on aspects of the original is also much greater than in SH2 where, let's be real, the technology was much more equal to the task of realizing the vision of the game.

Wasn’t Alone In the Dark made in the west and come out 4 years before resident evil?

I'm really looking forward to the remake of Silent Hill 1, which needed it way more than the 2nd game. Hopefully by then the Pro will have FSR 4 support, so won't have the familiar UE5 issues with it's upscaler.

Oh and speaking of which, aren't they meant to still be working on a fix for SH2?

I guess they don't have plan to port SH2 remake for Switch 2 and Xbox. Or maybe Konami themself gonna handle the port?

But Bloober worked pretty fast huh. SH2 remake was announced back in October 2022 and was released October last year or 2 years gap. So, SH1 remake will be late 2027 or maybe faster since they can reused some assets from SH2 remake like the fog, town, otherworld, hospital, items, and weapons.

@Oram77 They should use the likes of seeing studios that EA bought and Microsoft and how they all went and stay for independence.

If they keep doing good work then the should be fine

Did you ever played Haunting Ground, Forbidden Siren, or Clock Tower? These games has tons of running and hide from start to finish.

So I'm not sure why you generalized survival horror games by western devs as walking sims-run & hide only. Just because some of them made games like Amnesia and Outlast doesn't mean the rest are like them. I'm sure Dead Space, The Thing, TloU, Cold Fear, or Days Gone has more actions and explorations than Forbidden Siren, Clock Tower, Haunting Ground, and Fatal Frame.

And I'm pretty sure Alone in the Dark has exploration, puzzles, and action which became the biggest inspiration for Capcom / Japanese devs of how to do a survival horror game.

Ironicly. RE itself has a lot of run and hide with Nemesis, Mr X, Ustanak, the Bakers, Lady D, and even Requiem showed Grace run and hide from whatever that new monster is.

Im almost finished with Cronos and loving it! Whatever they release next i wouldn't say i will pre order it but definitely would be optimistic

Cronos: The New Dawn is my Game Of The Year for 2025. I earned every single achievement in the game including beating it on the hardest difficulty (along with about 1% of players!). It is a fantastic marriage of Dead Space and Resident Evil, and deserves every success. I truly hope it gets recognised come award season, and would absolutely love a sequel.

For the record, my second favourite game of the year was Hell Is Us and my third favourite is Expedition 33. It's been a fantastic year for gaming in my opinion.

So good was Cronos, that I bought it again on the PS5! Now all that remains is to get every trophy, and to see whether Ghost of Yotei will enter my top 3 games of the year when it arrives later this week...

I absolutely agree with you, @DETfaninATL/. Cronos: The New Dawn is utterly fantastic. The world and the story were just fantastic. I would love to see a sequel, and as there have been numerous Travelers before, there is always the possibility of telling someone else's story...

To me a game is measured PURELY on how much of a good time you have playing it and for me, nothing came out this year that matched how much fun I had with Cronos TND. Sure we can all critique graphics, story, sound design, frame rate, mechanics, etc., but it really just comes down to: how fun was it? And man oh man Cronos was a LOT of fun! And while I'm at it, the sound design and OST was amazing too! Cheers!

How about they focus on fixing how ***** SH2 Remake looks on the PS5 Pro first.

I just don’t know if the actual spookiness can match the original, something about the crunchy graphics and sound design makes it far scarier than even its own sequels. The school is genuinely one of the scariest places in any game I’ve played.

Cronos is a great game and I’m glad it found success. The absorption mechanic ensures every fight is tense until it is over.

Really curious to see how they remake SH1. The PS1's graphics and overall aesthetic really help in the scare factor, which is why so many indie devs use that era of graphics for a lot of their games.

But I trust Bloober after the great work they did with the SH2 Remake.

I'm beyond excited for SH1 Remake. I really enjoyed SH2R and wouldn't mind replaying it from time to time and being that the 1st SH game was my personal favorite in the series, I'm happy that this is happening.

I'm also hoping for SH4 and SH Origin get their remakes (It's only a matter of time for SH3 after SH1R)

Really enjoying Cronos so far! Gameplay may be a bit derivative, but the story, art direction, and atmosphere have me hooked! Confirmation that Bloober has indeed leveled up; excited for what comes next!

I am so psyched for this. I know everyone's favorite is SH2, but that's my least favorite of the SH games. Part 1 was my favorite. I think the big thing for me (and why I hated the movie) was that Harry Mason was just such a relatable character and watching him go through hell to save his daughter, after losing his wife, was heartwrenching. Being a parent it really hit home.

I listened to a streamer play Cronos while working. It seemed like it was a bit long and wore out its welcome with him - I plan on giving it a go when it's discounted a good amount.

Bloober should stay independent. I like Silent Hill f and the SH2 remake to an extent but it still doesn't wash away the bad taste of P.T Konami left. Let alone each Pro enhanced game has been a dud on delivery although to be fair they saved me a fortune on not investing in a pro.

Cronos didn't do it for me sadly. Made to the hospital and then stopped and after cat hing up on the ending/endboss, not sure if I wanna attempt. Idk the story isn't gripping me, the characters are apart from cool designs nonexistent and the gameplay was a slog. Blooper missed it for me so glad they have SH1 which gives them a great blueprint.

i feel like the more games this team makes the games keep getting better they keep learning and making improvements so i can't wait to see how this one is going to turn out , i still want silent hill 3 remade as well.
