SEGA has announced Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, a remake of the third entry in the Ryu ga Gotoku franchise, originally released on the PS3 in 2009. It'll drop on 12th February for PS5 and PS4.
The game splits its time between familiar location Kamurocho and Okinawa, where seasoned protagonist Kazuma Kiryu is enjoying some downtime, running his Sunshine Orphanage. (Or, amusingly, Morning Glory Orphanage as it’s known in Japanese.)
Of course, it isn’t long before Tojo Clan dynamics and political intrigue unsettle Kiryu’s relatively slow-paced life – and draw him back into the seedy criminal underworld he thought he had left behind.

This enhanced re-release will include “added scenes” which “deliver more depth and emotion to the beloved story with new and enhanced side experiences that immerse you in the world like never before, and more”.
In addition, it’ll include a new campaign named Dark Ties. Here’s how the publisher describes it:
“Experience the brand-new tale of Yoshitaka Mine from Yakuza 3 in an included separate game. Having once led a successful startup company, he plunged himself into the dark world of the yakuza by choice after losing everything. Left with an empty heart, the pursuit to find true bonds drives him forward once again in a dramatic journey colored by exhilarating boxing-based combat, and a variety of engaging side experiences.”
The base game will cost £54.99/$59.99, but there’ll also be a Digital Deluxe Edition for £69.99/$74.99 featuring:
- Legendary Outfit Pack
- Legendary Lads & Gals Pack
- Ryukyu Gal Gang Customization Pack
- Flip Phone Customization Pack
- Legendary Background Music CD Set
