Re: Poll: Did You Buy Final Fantasy VII Remake?

bbq_boy

Loving it and 5 hours in! I loved the original and seeing the characters and Midgar remade or fully fleshed out is bliss. And being swept of my feet with the frenzied but exciting combat I won't be going back to ATB again. Love to see remakes of all the ff games up to 10. Ah... To be playing ff 7 remake every year for another 3-7 years? Heck yeah!

Re: Xbox Boss on PS5: We Have a Plan That Can Win

bbq_boy

I might take my time this gen and wait until both consoles get plenty of reviews, true RRP prices of consoles, games, subscription costs and peripherals. Wait until at least 2-3 exclusives with 90% plus scores within 12 months. Until both consoles are physically on the street I'm not gonna be an early adaptor and risk my hard earned corona-cash safety net.

Re: Poll: Does PS5's Teraflop Disadvantage Matter to You?

bbq_boy

I just built a pc based on two year old gfx card and cpu. The games run smoothly... Do I care about 60fps vs 120fps? Not one bit unless I plan to go pro and devote myself to 24 hour gaming. Heck I'm playing Witcher 3 on ps4 and yeah it doesn't compare to mate's £1500 PC churning out 120fps on ultra mode. But guess what? He doesn't really play the games, just loves to gloat about fancy numbers. And gamers love their switch and mobiles, much weaker than any console. Anyways love to all the gamers yes the poor ones and the rich ones. However... If the PS5 is more expensive than xbox then I might be miffed to pay for less technical prowess. Then again does exclusive games allow for brand loyalty justify high ticket price? Hmm... Thinking of nintendo. Tough choice next generation

Re: Square Enix Explains Decision to Split Final Fantasy VII Remake Into Multiple Games

bbq_boy

The idea of one of my favourite games broken into 'episodic-season' is starting to grow on me! I mean heck we are so use to TV boxsets appearing in yearly releases. But what changed my mind was the amazing demo, if it was a dudd I wouldn't be this excited. There are many moments where I grew exhausted of all these massive games with a gazillion side quests and so many freedoms, and revisiting samey areas becames a chore fest. So if ff7 remake part 1 is a 40-60 hours and constantly moves me to new places, introducing new characters, story twists, etcI'd be more than happy. I wouldn't dare to wait until all episodes are released as it could end up being a 200-300 epic or chore fest!!

Re: PS5 'Superior' to Xbox Series X in a Lot of Ways, But Devs Seem Disappointed by Sony's Communication

bbq_boy

Methinks Sony is taking the console gaming wars seriously. I mean yes they've lost the first battle ie. Tech specs. But there's a war to be won. Take the first virtual punch to the guts, kapow, then wallop to the face. The PS5 seems black and blue (corporate colours!) but in round 5 it lifts its heads high... Its still 8 months away. Did you know tech prices can drop in 8 months and so much new tech gets improved during that time? Hehe funny thing is VR2 in a world of social isolation is the perfect antidote to connect with friends and gamers in a virtual world. Ready Player One might become the norm within a decade. Peace and good health to all gamers.

Re: Many More PlayStation Productions Adaptations in the Pipeline

bbq_boy

@DonJorginho The Order tv series would be spot on. Sean bean as lancelot would be cool. Werewolves, vampires, mythical monsters, templar lore, conspiracy, political power struggles, romance, Steampunk tech, gritty, dark, drama, peaky blinders-esque. Definitely one for the grown-ups. Awesome

Re: PS4 Has Reportedly Sold a Ridiculous 68 Million More Units than Xbox One

bbq_boy

I think maybe part of the reason gamers chose ps4 over xbox was the toxic competitiveness and language spewing forth from xbox before the days of Phil Spencer. The xbox Community back then seemed very fps-centric and drew in like-minded gamers. We shoot and kill hoorah! The xbox fanboy mentality in early days spent quite a bit of time on ps4 forums trying to bring it down. From a gamer's standpoint (especially families and decent gamers) they wanted no part of a console who's community was constantly toxic. In the end the ps4 gamers just played a whole variety of games, kept on enjoying exclusives and enjoyed broadcasting games such as fortnite and rocket league. Gamers on ps4 supported one another on the channels and that love and respect for one another just grew. After a crappie day at work, the last thing I wanted was toxic xbox crusaders bleeting expletives at me! My gaming time. I expect peace, fun and enjoyment. So if xbox next gen want to do well... Sort out the toxics gamers!

Re: Talking Point: PS5 Could Be Delayed, And We May Have to Accept That

bbq_boy

Saving lives and being careful before gaming sales and market capture are more important methinks. The delay of PS5 helps me enjoy my backlog and revisit some classics. This also means with extra time to develop games there's no excuse for releasing buggy rushed games hope every gamer and their friends, families and colleagues in every nation stay safe. Can't wait for next gen though!!

Re: The Last of Us to Be Adapted into HBO TV Series

bbq_boy

The time is ripe for games to TV series or movies imo. Why? Cos I reckon those who work in the tv/movie industry are just as much passionate gamers as we are. Yeah Mario the movie was pants, and so was streetfighter the movie. But in those days games weren't taken seriously. Love to see mass effect, red dead redemption, zelda, etc take to the TV screens!

Re: Hands On: Final Fantasy VII Remake's Modern Combat Thrills, But Level Design Feels Stuck in the Past

bbq_boy

Pre-ordered! What a stunning demo. Combat was tricky at first and then everything clicks. It's a frenetic action/ATB combat system and I love it. Once I learned to master character swapping, the enemies became easier to kill. Yep combat requires skill and speed. The music, the characters, the world, Shinra, Cloud... What a swansong epic game for the majestic PS4. Thank you Square Enix.

Re: Poll: How Much Does PS5 Backwards Compatibility Matter to You?

bbq_boy

It'd be lovely if PS5 had PS4 backwards compatibility and upgraded all PS4 games into PS5-enhanced. It'd be an early adopter just so I could continue playing my ps4 games. However if it wasn't backwards compatible I'd probably wait a year or two before purchasing one this time around. I have too many games and just not enough time

Re: Ubisoft Wants to Avoid Its PS5 Games Playing Like Copy and Pastes

bbq_boy

So basically Ubisoft is becoming like Sony studios! Horizon zero dawn vastly different to infamous. Astrobot vastly different to spiderman. Has it taken this long for Ubisoft to realise gamers are passionate and aren't positive about repurchase template lukewarm games. Saying that.. Fifa, Cod.. Sigh.

Re: PSVR Reaches Sales Milestone of 5 Million Units

bbq_boy

Astrobot completely amazes me! Just completed stage 2! Cos it's a steadier game I'm overcoming VR sickness. Maybe VR needs a gentle learner experience to teach us not to whip our heads around like mad peeps. If we shake our heads like crazy for 30 seconds don't we get dizzy? Slowly.. And build up

Re: Feature: 12 PlayStation Predictions for PS4 and PS5 in 2020

bbq_boy

1. Every game streaming and TV streaming will be front page. Hence it won't be just ps plus we'll be paying for. Expect EA, Disney, Ubisoft, Now TV to optionally added to our monthly subscription bills!
2. PSVR 2 will be lighter, wireless and in 4k. Expect it to easily connect to PCs as well so you can play pc vr and psvr games on it. Making it multi purpose and opening VR market.
3. Game charts Top 200 general so we can see and buy. And then top 100 for rpgs, fps, platformers, free-to-play, etc. Similar to how android/netflix lists its genres.
4. Ability to look at games and buy all related merchandise linked to that game. Eg. Just bought cyberpunk game? Why not purchase books, boxsets, cups, coasters, TV shirt, etc. PS5 becomes an online gamers shopping paradise
5. Connect two or more PS5s and boost graphics and CPU power beyond pro to infinite mwahaha!
6. PS5 has built in AI and a female voice! Microphone as standard. Heck every flipping pc/mobile manufacturer seems to have a voice!
7. A real-time calendar where we can add game reminders, producers can add expos, and ability to fav launch dates of coming soon games. Also dates esports tournaments. Clicking on any of these dates and we'll be taken to the online shop, video stream, tournament, etc.
8. Play your game and watch live or recorded broadcast (picture in picture) at same time! Yes for us lazy gamers who need walk through and help.
9. Big flashy alert to warn us to eat, poo and spend time with our loved ones!

Re: Game of the Decade: The Witcher 3 Set a New Standard for RPGs That's Yet to Be Topped

bbq_boy

And it's this passion for crafting games, respecting the original creators lore, taking their time to get things right... The world, the games engine, the storytelling, the musical score, coding, art, everything that a game like this will be grafted into gaming history and playable from generation to generation. It's when a games developer stays true to its roots... Gaming. Instead of being approached and consumed by some stock market capitalist investor, out to create bucks and rush out template chore after template chore. This is the joy of gaming! The passion of gaming! Thank you CD Projekt Red.

Re: Game of the Decade: Fortnite Became the Biggest Video Game in the World

bbq_boy

Fantastic to see a game which actually requires skill and fast reflexes, a sense of belonging become a mainstream community for gamers casual and hardcore globally. Heck we can moan! But let's face it the editor is right. Our 'good ol' days' of pokemon, COD, tetris...well if we can remember these let's pass the torch to the next generation. Let's hope the next gaming generation are united in fun and common courtesy and be rid of us old trolls who grew up on console war toxicity and childish mine is better than yours media inspired trash. Epic Fortnite I salute you. For all you Fortnite players I salute you. For the gamers!

Re: Google Stadia Terrified Sony Before Streaming Service's Tepid Launch

bbq_boy

Can't help wonder though if this first launch is just a test in the waters for Google. The early adopters are the Guinea pigs... Except these testers are paying to use Stadia! Google isn't exactly a cash strapped operation. Methinks Stadia is probably going to make more money by selling the data (googles core service) to game companies, hyping the future of gaming is all about streaming and releasing reports to investors. Do you see any big highly rated Stadia games so far. Nah! So why not? My silly little hunch is Google isn't interested in making triple AAA games, they just want to promote more Google branding and be seen amongst gamers. I'll be sticking to the guys like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo who are working hard to produce top games for us until Google prove otherwise.

Re: Soapbox: The Most Frustrating Thing About Enthusiast Gamers

bbq_boy

Great opinion post! I for one believe the gaming community is evolving and is full of positive people. Eg. Clash of clans is a game still growing strong and has over 500million downloads. What? But serious gamers use to mock mobile gaming (I sadly was one of the mockers - sad face - but have repented!) and instead it's a growing industry full of unique experiences. Nearly everyone has a mobile phone nowadays so maybe that unites instead of creating divisions. With the opposition to PSVR, Stadia, etc I think maybe the cause is a mental disease called fanboyism. It's a protective mechanism controlled by fear so that you protect your favourite company, developer, etc by cursing the other parties. It's typical of politics where one group of followers want to win and to do so they create lies, false facts which stir up their side and tarnish the other group. As a youthful gamer, I use to be a fanboy at college and spout negativity about other tech opposed but that's because media and trolls use to target my choice of game consoles and games. I was baited and like a moth to a flame eagerly enter the absurd fanboy arena. Like many gamers on pushsquare I've also matured and realised, learnt to ignore trolls and toxic media, instead focus on enjoying every minute playing games cos they're mega fun! I pray and hope the gaming community becomes a force of goodness, where early adopters can be praised for taking the initial expense of trying out new things and gaming social heroes, journalists, etc. can test out new gadgets and ideas and highlight the pros and cons without any political hate agenda. For the gamers.

Re: Sony Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden Leaving PlayStation

bbq_boy

Another generation relinquishes it's post and takes time to enjoy the rest of life. Have a successful life in your next job Mr Layden and many blessings spent with your family. Companies should always train next generation leaders (not a sole leader) to fill in shoes! Can't wait to see what the next gen of leaders will bring to the table... Just hope they're peacemakers and not trouble-makers to continue a peaceful gaming community.
