Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been a mainstay of the UK's boxed games chart for many weeks now, but it's never quite made it to the top. With the latest results, though, it's finally crawled up to the number one spot, presumably driven by the PS5 stock drip-feed the country has had lately.
The hardware availability has provided a boost to other PS5 games too. Assassin's Creed Valhalla sells best on Sony's new console in this week's chart and jumps up to eighth, while Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War continues to hold its ground at sixth. Watch Dogs Legion also sells a majority on PS5, and bounces back from number 27 to number 12. It's a similar story for Immortals Fenyx Rising, which moves up to 14th. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate re-enters the top 40 in 18th, with 90 per cent of sales going to the PS5 version.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 13th March 2021
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla
- Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- Ring Fit Adventure

Whilst initially surprising to see MM at the top I know a lot of people are waiting until they get a PS5 to play it so seeing as we are getting more consoles of late it makes sense (it is also a brilliant game of course).
Really glad to see Immortals still doing well, I am only about 4/5 hours into it but enjoying it so far.
The charts really are an odd thing right now. Xbox won’t make much of a dent in sales charts as a lot of people play game pass which will stop them buying new games, or if new games go on game pass, they won’t be included here. Or maybe just me but I won’t buy a game on series x as it may end up on GPU while I’ll likely have to buy PS exclusives (bought MM) to play them.
Would be very interested in how much money a game on game pass makes versus selling x number of copies on the PS5?
@StonyKL tbh I don't think we will ever know until a few studios share that financial information, also last gen even when gamepass wasn't as popular xbox games hardly ever made a deny in the sales charts
Finally got round to finishing MM. It was good, but not as good as the original imho.
Graphics, sound and presentation stunning. Web slinging as good as ever.
Miles’ powers were interesting, though they upset the carefully tuned balance and flow in combat.
The story was ok, if a little cliche and derivative for my tastes.
There are also a lot of pretty uninspired, poorly written, fetch quest/ Ubisoft like busywork. With the exception of Spider-cat not one of the side quests were memorable. Felt mostly like these aspects were the B team.
More Infamous Last Light than Uncharted Lost Legacy. Still worth a play.
Well deserved, great game
No other PS exclusives in the top 10 though. Could the higher price point on other titles be stopping them from getting in or just not games people want?
I bought a dockable Nintendo Switch 2 weeks ago and Mario Kart and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury are great fun!
Good to see GTA 5 hanging in there still! lol
@StonyKL These charts don't include digital sales, that make up for over fifty percent of the sales. They've been in an "odd place" for a while now.
@Enigk Don't try to jump to conclusions from those charts. They don't include digital sales, which make up forthe majority of video game revenue, so they won't tell you anything about Sony doing good or not. Or even the impact of prices.
Mortal kombat 11 sells 90% on ps5 is impressive, I think microsoft is teaching their users to not buy games and wait for gamepass instead, I don't know if it's good or bad in the long run for their ecosystem.
@wiiware Unless we don't know the digital sales, we truly have no idea. The difference is super big, but the difference in demographic between digital gamers and physical gamers could be big too.
@Kidfried I am just wondering. At the minute boxed copies of PS5 titles are cheaper than digital as no real discounts on PS5 games digitally I believe. I am not the target audience of full priced games anyway I always wait for the games to be out in the wild and less bugs and under £20. By the time I can get a PS5 I hope there will be some games that fit my criteria or I will be playing my PS4 games on it.
@Enigk Yea, I totally get why you are wondering that. And it's an interesting question to speculate on how the pricing will effect the market.
I think Sony will start making deals as soon as they are able to meet the PS5 hardware demand. Right now that's just not the case.
Nice to hear Fenyx Rising received a boost in sales. I'm having a blast with it.
@Enigk In my country new boxed copy assassin creed valhalla ps5 is only about $46, new hitman 3 ps5 is about $44, only sony 1st party titles priced $70. It's cheaper to buy physicals rather than digital for ps5 games right now. I'm still waiting for demon's souls discount on psn lol.
@Kidfried they already revealed the PS digital store sales for Feb (US and Europe)....
As far exclusives go, both Spider Man Miles Morales (PS5) and Demon's Souls Remake (PS5) did really good. Spider Man Miles Morales better since well... it is Spider Man. Demon's Souls Remake is more of niche game, but did great as well. If the game is good people will pay $70 simple as that. The same way they did when they were $60.
You don't need to be a wizard to know that most of the games being sold right now (physical and digital, full price and discounted) are coming from either PS and/or Nintendo platforms. The GamePass model is hurting the Xbox sales of those games in general. Anyone thinking otherwise is just being delusional... you just can't sustain the whole gaming industry via a GamePass model (subscription based) only.
As good as it is, it doesn’t outshine Fenyx! That game should be getting more attention. At least more than Valhalla!! Come on guys!
@Culjoseth I love the game but stopped playing i have horrible problems with the sound. As its the only game with sound problem im certain its the game. It crackling in some part when they talk about the story. And one more big thing i hate the time wasted checking for content.
@Playstation - Sackboy A Big Adventure ended up being my favorite game of last year, which was a pleasant surprise for me because I originally wasn't hyped for it (Bought it Day One Physically for PS4 & PS5 but didn't end up playing it til a week before Xmas), had a lot of fun playing this game in Co-Op with some mates.
@Flaming_Kaiser I too got the sound bug but realized when it happened (only happened twice in 80hrs played) all u had to do was shutdown the PS5. It only checks for content after the game is started from the beginning.
@Culjoseth Well i restarted the console several times i even played it on a new console and it checks the content every time at the start so annoying. With the sound problem and the check of the nonsense everytime i booted up the game i just thought ill start up something else. Now its Infamous First Light the game looks great and so much fun too traverse the map i feel ashamed left it in the seal for so long.
If u put in rest, it does not on mine. Only if I turn the console off, which I only do once a week. First Light was great! Would love another Infamous game!!
@JustPlainLoco You weren't hyped for it but bought it day one physically for 2 consoles??? WTF do you do if you are hyped for a game???
It's an okay game. Nowhere near as good as its blatant 'inspiration', Mario Galaxy 2/3D World.
@Playstation Why the hyphen??? This is a Play-Station web-site!
@rpg2000 First of all, why are wizards such experts in sales distribution???
Secondly, you'd better hurry up and tell Microsoft that their business model isn't going to work! Thank god you realised though before all of their highly paid industry experts invested the company's future in something you deem to be unworkable. Then could you call Blockbuster and encourage them to go big on Betamax? Thanks.
@__jamiie - I buy just about every game I have even the slightest bit of interest in on Day One, because if I don't I'll probably forget about it and miss out on a potentially good game, just easier to buy a game Day One. I bought it physically on PS4 & PS5 so I could add it it to my collection, and in case one of my friends wants to play the game but don't have the money to buy it, so they can just borrow it off of me.
@JustPlainLoco It's still a little odd but fair play to you. I wish my friends would buy games I might want to play.
