Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for June 2026?

Rob_230

Enjoyed the show but would have liked to see more announcements of games that hadn't been previously revealed - so until dawn 2 was a particular highlight for me.

Thought wolverine, Tokon, Tomb Raider, Onimusha, Control, and God of War (apart from the weird cube) looked excellent.

Rayman looks good, although can't help but feel the original legends didn't need a graphical change - was stunning on the Vita.

That dinosaur game looked fun but will wait to see more on that one.

Re: Sony Announces Gigantic PS5 Price Increases, Effective from April 2026

Rob_230

Sony between a rock and a hard place here. Clearly they haven't done this for fun and world economics and geoplitics are such that a price increase was inevitable. But this increase is shocking. Wonder if Sony wished they had increased the price last year when the RAM situation started to hit, so this increase wasn't quite so accute

Re: Sony Announces Gigantic PS5 Price Increases, Effective from April 2026

Looks like enhanced care routine for mine then plus really investing in building my library before software costs spike too. Absolutely bonkers.

My PS5 already sounds like a jet engine when playing disc based games which isn't good (I clean it monthly). Will have to explore getting the system stripped down and fully cleaned at some point.

This is what will kill console gaming. The barrier of entry is becoming simply too high

Re: Resident Evil Requiem PS5 Flying Off Shelves, Now at 6 Million Sales

Rob_230

Great game and sales fully deserved. Tonally a little off balance perhaps, but my goodness i was glad for the break when stepping into Leon's shoes.

Racoon city was a little under-developed for me. Would have loved to have spent more time there than you actually do in the game but I will say there was some great fan service in there

Re: Opinion: I Wonder if Xbox Helix Will Force Sony to Break Its PS6 Silence

Rob_230

If - as has been suggested - this launches at between $1000-1500, then i dont think Sony will be overly concerned assuming they are aiming to get a cheaper machine out the door (which in all likelihood will still be in the range of $700 upwards). With that said it largely depends on Microsoft's strategy. Will they try and make first party titles exclusive again or is the genie too far our of the bottle? Are they solely aiming this at enthusiasts or do they plan on it being a system for mass adoption. We will have to wait and see

Essentially this seems like it will be a pc with an xbox sticker slapped on the front. Its the last hurrah for xbox if not successful and I can see them going big on it. Top management at Microsoft seem more invested in this thing being successful than I have seen in recent generations too. Sony's strategy to pull back from PC development does make sense in light of this announcement.

The decision for Sony on whether to release PS6 in 2027 is largely going to come down to the cost benefit analysis of sitting on the SOC developed for the system for another 2 or 3 years. They might just want to push the machine out. It just feels too early to me. PS5 is just hitting its stride and PS5 pro /PSSR should keep it very relevant for some time to come

Re: Opinion: If Sony's Doubling Down on Its Most Popular Franchises, Where's Uncharted?

Rob_230

Wasnt there a clip years ago in a PS5 sizzle showing a girl in a cave that everyone felt was a new uncharted? Wonder what happened to that.

I'm more than ready for a new game. It doesnt have to be a massive - Lost Legacy was the perfect length. I think the series would still perform very well. Perhaps if the new Tomb Raider titles do well, Sony will take another look?

Re: Opinion: Sony's Disgraceful Bluepoint Closure Should Concern Every PS Studios Fan

Rob_230

Agreed with the sentiment here. And if im a studio like Media Molecule, im worried. And Housemarque will want Saros to do big numbers.

Obviously we'll never know what is happening behind closed doors, but this decision on the face of it looks completely baffling - Demons Souls was THE launch title whether you like Souls games or not - and Bluepoint's history speaks for itself.

It's such a shame and I worry for the future. Ive never been interested in this live service push and if thats the direction this industry is heading in, im out.

Re: Opinion: The Euphoric Reaction to PS6's Rumoured Delay Really Confuses Me

Rob_230

Would buy the handheld tomorrow, but not really feeling ps6 is needed right now just as ps5 has started to find momentum. The state of play was a clear demonstration of that.

Dont get me wrong, I'd probably look to get one nearish launch - particularly if smaller and they sort some of the design issues i have with PS5

I just think Sony would be better off waiting out the current RAM crisis and continue building on PS5 - make people WANT to upgrade - i don't feel many are at that point yet and would be put off if they had to invest in yet more hardware. The games are running just fine as they are.

Re: Poll: How Would You Rate State of Play for February 2026?

Rob_230

Lots here to like. Well paced and enjoyable show. The PS studio reveals were more or less as expected although the GOW remake trilogy and Kena were surprises. Liked what I saw. I wasn't expecting to see wolverine or intergalactic tonight so no disappointment there, and Yotei legends looks excellent. good to see MGS 4 coming up at last. Long overdue.

Re: Life Is Strange: Reunion Revives One of Gaming's Iconic Relationships on PS5

Rob_230

I'm mixed on this. I loved the original and before the storm. Really didnt get on with the second, thought true colours was excellent, but double exposure underwhelmed. I certainly want to see a review but I will definitely be playing this at some point. I hope there are more locations than DE. It felt quite constrained by only having a handful or so environments

Re: Study Claims Physical PS5 Games Are 100 Times Worse for the Planet Than Digital Downloads

Rob_230

Its a worthy debate, but there are pros and cons to both sides of the argument. I need to read the article to see how its framed, but a quick search only references water extraction in the context of plastic production, but not the vast amounts needed to cool data centres which is putting huge stress on already finite resources. You have to look at the whole environmental cycle and not only carbon emissions in isolation (albeit these are very important).

Re: Ghost of Yotei Is Sony's Biggest PS5 Launch Since Spider-Man 2 in Europe

Rob_230

Its an excellent game. Enjoying every minute. 20 hours in and not faced the Oni yet.

Looking forward to exploring more of its world as it opens up. Might be false memory but the environments dont seem quite as exciting as those in Tsushima yet - although everything within the world has been a lot of fun to participate in and discover.

Great job Sucker Punch 👊

Re: As Fans Demand inFAMOUS Remasters, Sucker Punch Says It Can Only Work on One Game at a Time

Rob_230

Ghost of 'Something' (doesnt have to even be in Japan if they want a fresh setting) or a new ip for me please.

I like Sly but Sanzaru did an excellent job with thieves in time so I think it can be outsourced.

I don't want another infamous right now with Insomniac largely focussed on the super hero genre as we risk becoming over saturated.

No remasters from Sucker Punch please. If Sony really want to, outsource to Nixxes
