Had low expectations and this exceeded them in nearly every way this evening. A fewtitles I would have culled (I dont need to see any more of Baby steps, thanks!) but overall a very solid show.
Lumines is back. That started stuff off 100% on a positive footing. Then getting to see titles like Bond, the new Marvel fighter, Final Fantasy Tactics (not IX, but i think an announcement is coming in July), Silent Hill, Sword of the Sea and the long awaited return of pragmata presented a lot to enjoy here!
I'll look forward to the Ghost of Yotei SOP in July too!
Wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar also wanted to get their feet wet on Switch 2 to see what it's capable of before making a decision on porting GTA 6 to the system. Wouldn't be surprised at all if it's true. I actually picked up RDR 1 again on the switch because it felt like a novel way to replay it. What a game
I am only subscribed to essential and have no incentive to increase to a higher tier as my backlog is embarrassing enough to the point I know i wouldn't get the most out of the digital catalogue.
Extra does seen to be the sweet spot for those that can benefit from the catalogue - i don't think Sony has yet done enough to justify the premium tier and think it would benefit from a rethink going forward.
Only way I see this being true is if the remake of 4 is actually real - and even then, perhaps for a mission or two within a restricted section of the map
I kind of fell off THPS after the 4th game as it entered the jackass era so I could take or leave a remake of underground tbh.
Personal preference would be to take the pure style of the first 4 games and make a new one next tbh, but I do appreciate THUG is held dearly in the hearts of many
Sadly from a business perspective, I suspect Sony look at the amount of time players put into those older titles on PS Plus, and are of the view that they are better off focussing elsewhere where there is likely to be a better return on their investment
Still physical wherever possible here. In fact my copy of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza arrived on my doorstep today and i recently bought AC Shadows, Clair Obscura, and Silent Hill 2 physically over the past month.
The trend does worry me, but £7.63 billion remains a figure that Sony and third party publishers wont want to ignore in the UK - not everyone will want to transition to digital. And GTA6 is likely to pull a lot of casual gamers into this system and will likely sell very well physically.
I guess a big factor here is that Xbox has effectively gone digital only (can't remember the last Series X game i saw on the shelves) so the physical market has shrunk significantly since last gen
I suppose my one concern is if the new playstation handheld is only compatible with digital purchases made on PS5. I can see myself wanting to pick one up, but if it means I have to double dip on games, then that might start to push me to buy more digital titles. But I have no plans to do so until I have no option to do otherwise
I can't see myself paying that price for anything they release tbh. Will wait for a deep sale or not buy it at all. That goes for all companies. A game would have to be mighty special
Glad I picked up on Friday given Amazon is now showing the physical will be back in stock in 1-2 months! It's so refreshing to see everyone uniting around a game like this. Have to hope the bigger publishers sit up and learn from this.
@PlatinumMikey haha yeah I reflected after my comment and decided to buy it now too - to support the devs and to send a message that we need more games like this! Hope you enjoy it when you get it 🙂
Glad I sold my hoard last night so hopefully by the next time I need to sell items the feature has been returned. Loving this game and i am still only in the Naoe section at the start - 12 hours in 😅
Bearing in mind this is multi platform, I think it could do well. The art style is gorgeous too. I don't really play pvp shooters, but it looks fun . Hope it does well for them
Loved remake and initially had no issue with the trilogy aspect. The first game was pretty tight too. Unfortunately I thought rebirth had too much open world padding between story sections which was to the detriment of the narrative - to the point I almost would have preferred the game to be told over 2 games max
I'm not sure why exec's make comments like this based on well known history in the industry.
That being said I also don't understand the backlash around the Switch 2 hardware price. It seems about bang on what I expected it to release at for a more powerful console.
There are a number of issues that do need to be addressed such as the software seeing one heck of a mark-up compared to the current gen, and suggestions of limited battery life, not addressing the joystick issue, the game card business etc.
But the cost of the console in the box probably shouldn't be the direction of people's ire.
He is correct. Game bloat has to stop too. Shawn Layden was correct. We should be seeing way more titles the length of Astro Bot, or the likes of the lost legacy, Miles morales etc. Which are sold at a lower price, but released more often. There is still a place for massive game worlds, but these should be limited because dev time and costs have spiralled to the point it no longer seems sustainable.
Smaller games with reduced budget will freshen up the gaming industry again because it will allow devs to take more risks rather than this constant sword of damacles should a title not meet sales expectations. All the current situation will achieve is drive talent out of the industry and will put younger generations off from taking that career path in the future
The extra stuff here will be a nothing burger to be honest. Have seen this kind of update before.
I'm a huge fan of the series, but I'm not hearing anything that would make me feel an urgent need to pick this version up even when I do eventually get a switch 2
I hope it lights a fire under Sony tbh. You can just feel the hype around this nintendo event which hasn't really been felt during the PS5 generation.
As for what I hope to see, Final Fantasy 9 is the obvious one (although given it was a PS1 title, I really would have liked to see Sony have it at one of its own shows), and the rumoured Persona 4 remake (same story as FF9).
I think nintendo are going to come out of today's direct very well.
No guarantee that it would have worked. And even if it had, what's to say the cure would have been used for the greater good. Most likely would have been sold to the highest bidder or used to blackmail people rather than used for its intended purpose. World of the Last of Us teaches you that you can trust almost no-one.

Re: State of Play Confirmed for 4th June, 40+ Minutes of PS5 Games
I do wonder if there will be remasters of the Resistance games here given their removal from PS Plus Premium .
Will keep expectations low for this and hopefully be surprised
Re: Sony's Huge Days of Play Sale on PS5 Consoles, Games, PS Plus Subs Starts Next Week
Hope the 30 % off includes PS plus essential and isnt only for upgrading to a higher tier / new customers only.
I'd also be tempted if there was a good discount on a portal

The switch eshop is infected with this stuff too which really does beg the question how it is getting onto the store in the first place.

@Shepherd_Tallon personally think that would be the best solution
Re: Just 4% of PS5, PS4 Fans Think PS Plus Premium Represents Good Value for Money
@Zazu Killer Instinct Gold is being added to Switch 1 NSO collection. No need for switch 2 yet 🙂

Re: Rumour: Six Years of Assassin's Creed RPGs, Remakes, Multiplayer Games Planned at Ubisoft
No interest in remakes. The games are too long to justify a replay. I say this as someone absolutely loving AC shadows currently.
Hopefully some of these titles are shorter games like mirage that you can play through in 20 or so hours
I suspect some of these are mobile only games too.
Re: GTA 6 Trailer 2 Is Finally Here, PS5 Graphics Are Jaw-Dropping
Looks brilliant but would like to see some content of the game actually being played so we can get a proper feel for it in action.
Will be a long year for sure. Game is shaping up to have a great story by the looks of things at the very least
Re: Halo the Final PS5 Holdout of Xbox's Historic Big Three
Makes complete sense for Microsoft to release the halo titles one by one. Will maximise revenue that way
Re: Poll: Are You Disappointed by the GTA 6 Delay?
I'm just glad the delay has been announced now so other companies can plan out theor own release schedules.
I'll pick this up whenever it lands, but I have plenty to play until that time and won't lose any sleep over this
Re: GTA 6 Delayed to 2026, Out on 26th May 2026
