All Signs Point to Resident Evil: Code Veronica PS5 Remake in 2027

First half of next year, says NateDrake

It increasingly looks like Resident Evil fans can safely expect a Code Veronica X remake to be next in line from Capcom, as reliable leaker NateDrake has added to the claims of the project being in active development.

In fact, the leaker has gone one step further and claimed Capcom is currently targeting a release for the remake in the "first half of 2027". The post on social media said: "Yes, Code Veronica is being remade & deep in development. Target of release is first half 2027."

The suggestion adds to previous reports from IGN, VGC, and DuskGolem, who have hinted at a Code Veronica remake being what Capcom puts out next after Resident Evil Requiem. There have also been rumours of a Resident Evil Zero remake, but there's not quite as much smoke surrounding such a project right now.

With a new mainline title in Resident Evil Requiem launching for PS5 on 27th February 2026, history would suggest another remake will be what Capcom releases next. The publisher has been alternating between new games and remakes in the series for some time now.

Let's hope this is the team that brought us RE2:R and RE4:R. This one has the potential to be the best of the bunch.

Let's be honest Code Veronica is more important to the main story than RE3 is and has great potential for a remake. I've been following these rumours for some time and it seems we are getting CV and then 0 and I couldn't be more excited

I’m well excited - haven’t played the original since it was released and Capcom can do no wrong with these remakes (okay maybe 3 was a bit disappointing)

I tried playing Code Veronica X on my PS2 a few years ago and bounced off it because I just couldn't cope with the horrendous tank controls anymore. A remake will be most welcome - here's hoping not too much is lost in the translation.

As I said on another similar article recently, RE CV remains one of my favourite RE games - my 2nd favourite of the original run of games after RE2. I loved the story, the creepiness, characters (even Steve), and the locations.
It needs an update like RE2 / 4 - but I really hope they do not cut anything (like they did in the remakes for 3 and 2), and don't start messing around with Characters (eg Carlos in 3 remake, who was a big downgrade).

If done right, this could be an amazing game.

Great news (if true of course). Having in the main saga up to 4 all in the modern style would be ideal for me. Hopefully Zero afterwards is true and then they do the original again.
