As Fans Demand inFAMOUS Remasters, Sucker Punch Says It Can Only Work on One Game 1

Ghost of Yotei dev doesn’t anticipate a future where it’s juggling multiple projects at once.

The Seattle-based studio has been a PlayStation powerhouse for multiple generations now, but with production lifecycles getting longer, some fans had been hoping the team may be able to take on more than one project at a time.

Specifically, there’s been a lot of chatter about both Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS of late – two of the outfit’s past properties.

In an interview with Minnmax, creative director Nate Fox estimated around 10% of the studio would be excited to continue the story of Sly Cooper, pointing out it’s been many years since it last worked on the series.

And since then, in a social media post that went viral, YouTuber Suzi Hunter said, “I would like ports of both inFAMOUS games, thank you very much”.

But in an interview with VGC, studio head Brian Fleming pointed out there’s only so much Sucker Punch can do, as it plans to remain a single project team.

He explained:

“If we were good at juggling four projects, yeah, we’d have a remaster, and let’s go do one of those, and one of those, and do some fan request, that would be really popular… But we only get to do one thing. So, it kind of has to be your best idea, right? And that’s really clarifying. It’s not like there aren’t 15 good ideas. But you only get to do one. And by the way, you only get to do one about every five years. So that choice is really important.”

To be fair, there’s nothing stopping Sony from outsourcing remasters of inFAMOUS or a new Sly Cooper game – in fact, the last entry in the latter franchise was made by Sanzaru Games.

But if Sucker Punch does work on them, it’ll be at the expense of something else, as it’s saying it can only do one thing at a time.

Obviously, Ghost of Yotei has only just released, but what would you like to see the studio do next? Do you want more historical sandboxes, or something completely new from the team? Or would you like it to return to one of these older franchises?
