The Lost Wild looks kewl.

Loads of release dates, not a whole lot new that interested me massively.

No JRPGs is surprising. As such, its a "Poor" from me, dawg.

It was good but not great. Started and ended strong but the middle had a lot of filler I felt.

One of the best in a while. Maybe too many horror games but a lot to look forward to. GOW Laufey is a Day One purchase.

one new game. though it looks really damn good. but what on earth are all their other studios working on???

Expected a bit more but the Wolverine and God of War gameplay plus Until Dawn 2 made a very good showing.

I really liked Marvel Tokon. Need to see gameplay for Wolverine. Will get dawn of dreams later. I bailed during the GOW presentation but may pick it up on sale in a few years. A few others I am gonna pick up elsewhere.

Nothing new (that I wanted) but I’m fine with the games I will be getting.

One of the best showcases I’ve seen. Anyone worried that Sony’s lost their way can be finally reassured - they’re back with a vengeance. The single player line up is absolutely phenomenal. I’ll be sticking with Sony into the PS6 era without a doubt, this reminds me why I love the company.

I said it at the time and now i’m even more sure of it, this State of Play was announced early to take away from the account security risk raised by Colin at LSM.

Because that was not worth the build up and hype.

Was not expecting mom of war, but hyped for it.

Weird one. I was expecting better considering the hype and the whole theatre deal so I was disappointed. However God of War looked so unbelievably good.

Can someone tell me how to pronounce "Laufey"?

Laufey looks way better than I expected it to. Other than that and Wolverine, I thought it was fine.

Pretty decent show but not worth the hype. Some good games announcement but nothing mindblowing. Good for those who likes the newer GoW games I guess...

Honestly, I can't keep up with how many video games I want to play.

Rayman surprised me, looked a lot better than expected.

An insane amount of single player games to be played in the next months TBH.

I never even dared to hope for such a strong female energy in GOW. Can't wait to play it! I also love the style they chose to remake Rayman.

It was okay, was hoping for something a bit more mind blowing for the way it was being hyped up. Until Dawn 2 was the only thing was came out of nowhere.

Definetely not the show that was hyped. With that said it was not bad and I have a lot to play from it.

I just can't wrap my around how dissapointing new GoW looks. Like real.

Voted ‘very good.’ Not a lot of new announcements but what was shown was great. God of War: Laufey was the standout for me, looks absolutely incredible.

It was a good show, now to wait for Summer Games Fest

Thought it was pretty good. The God of War spinoff looks cool. Adding the original and Ragnarok to my play list, though I know it's likely a long ways off

It used to be so easy to make fun of Xbox’s showcase as a Sony fan but I feel like that’s really no longer the case. Very average.

Missed opportunity to call it "Goddess of War"

I rated it good (7/10), the new God of War game was the highlight for me as it looked incredible. Also interested in Wolverine, Tomb Raider and Rayman but other than that anything else I may get in sale like Until Dawn 2 and Silent Hill Townfall.

For me personally it was missing more Japanese games, where was the Wilds Expansion and Rev.Noir. I think the previous SoP was much better and will be hard to beat.

Over to Nintendo and Geoff next, hopefully they can show some games that are more my taste.

Not amazing, but it did have some amazing stuff in it.

I am so baffled how people can actually be negative about today's show and the games. But I guess that is the comment section on this site. People really need to get their head out of their ass and enjoy things again ... And show respect to the art and their creators.

So many people seem to expect a show tailored to their own specific tastes and and seem disappointed when it isn't.

I saw 3 maybe 4 games I'm very excited for which is a great hit rate for me.

I wasn't too impressed to be honest. God of War did a lot of heavy lifting, but as good as it looks I'm concerned about how MCU era Marvel it felt. The continuing radio silence from Naughty Dog has me worried, I have to admit.

Laufey looked insanely good. I was speechless at times. Though seeing a woman getting continuously and seriously hurt made me a little uncomfortable

ngl, when they mentioned having a new game, I really thought it would be something actually new. Nothing against the GoW franchise but I really thought they meant a brand new IP

I think it's very good but i don't think this one smash February SoP.

Wolverine, Tokon, Kemuri, Until Dawn 2, Onimusha: Way of the Sword & Dawn of Dreams, Ace Combat 8, and GoW Laufey are my highlights.

@dv_xedge Absolutely agreed - not everything was for me, but I think sometimes the more hardcore enthusiasts can ruin the fun for themselves. Brilliant showing..

I gave it an OK, mainly most of it was things we knew about and seen already, Wolverine looks awesome, and Until Dawn 2 was a nice surprise, and finally some details about the Dune game, but that GOW game at the end was rotten! talking cubes, talking swords, cutesy animals showing you the way... no thank you.

Overall, it was fiiiiiiiiiine.

Wolverine looks dope, the Tomb Raider remake looks fantastic. I’m glad to see ILL pop back up. Still excited for SH Townfall too. Oh and the random revival of the Stuntman games FTW!

Outside of that? Until Dawn 2 did nothing for me, I feel like an actual sequel is a ship that sailed a long time ago, so getting it now does not nearly hit like it should. And GoW Laufey looks fine but also looks like every other third person AAA action game these days. I need to know what about it specifically makes it different or unique to all the others? The IP name?

Yes we are mostly disappointed by the cadence of ~1 PS5 first-party game per year, lmao if you consider that negativity.

Laufey looks great tho. Lame title and not being able to say 2027 is a bummer but whatever I'll take what I can get. Frank ftw.

There's a new Stuntman that's an automatic great for me, I really liked the first two in the series. I missed the start and Wolverine but that Tomb Raider game looked very good too.

That was ok at best just shows Sony have no new ideas and just relying on sequels. God of war looked ok but at the end of the day is more of the same with a different character. Happy to get an until dawn 2 though

Just okay. Strong start with Wolverine and Tokon, strong finish with Laufey, and the middle ranged from mid to lame.

When I think of an excellent showcase I think of when resident evil 2 remake and final fantasy 7 remake was announced. Wolverine, tomb raider, unit dawn 2 and god of war are the ones I like the look of though I feel like I’m not excited excited like I was for ff7 or resident evil 2.

It was boring as hell to watch but some of the new announcements were cool. Until Dawn 2 in particular cuz the 1st one is awesome altho it did kinda look worse for some reason lol. The god of war game looked surprisingly good but considering ive not touched a single gow game, I'm obviously not playing it any time soon. The Dino game also looks interesting. Overall it was not watch at a theater quality tho

Bout a 8 thanks to God of War and Wolverine.

Would of been a 10 if things weren't leaked, we have already heard of a game about Fey, Firesprite working on a Until Dawn title, Rayman Legends etc.. surprises were already spoiled unfortunately

@naruball Why? Laufey is a warrior who stalemated Thor and fought Kratos and survived so i'm sure she can take a little beating.

Some nice bits and pieces, gutted we didn’t even get a screenshot or trailer (or anything) from Naughty Dog (what is going on with that studio). Intergalactic a 2028 title? Would have liked to have seen something from MM (but that was more like wishful thinking I guess).

It was a solid show, some nice if not great firstparty stuff. Funnily enough i most got hyped when i saw i would get a chance to play Psy-Ops and finally complete Omnimusha 4 via retro classics.

Forgot about The Lost Wild, that looked really good as well.

Would have liked to seen a few more indies but overall really happy. Just really hope GOW and Heretic Prophecy are 2027 games

Onimusha, heck yeah. I got what I wanted from this one.

The God of War presentation was so frustrating. I really wanted to like it. The premise is cool, but man, they refuse to build tension.

Wake up in a weird place, what's going on... Oh, and cute little Pokémon looking thing jumps out of the bushes to sign post. Alright then. And the talking cube? First, the dude sounds like a current year Pacific Northwest barista - I half expected him to ask her how she wanted her coffee. And to watch it move around and try to fight as part of the combat - no. It just doesn't want to be taken seriously at all, and I really, really dislike this quippy Marvel-esque writing style for this reason.

Stuntman looks cool as do Tomb Raider and Control Resonant.

SGF is around the corner - hoping for a Persona reveal soon.

It was very mid outside of a handful of games. 80% was games that were already announced and just got release dates.

Way too much hype as always, but Wolverine, GOW Laufey & Until Dawn all showed great and it's at least Sony producing single player story driven exclusives for PS5.

They still haven't caught up from the damage that the live service/pc port focus has done. Overall the show was good, I think everyone just wants MORE.

If anything I'd say Nintendo directs are for the JRPG's like Monster Hunter Stories, Dragon Quest Monsters, Shin Megami, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Rune Factory etc

let's see. onimusha and ace combat were the only games that i'd play from that showing. this could be ps5's last full year before the ps6 launches and i'd say it's going out on a whimper, not a bang.

god of war has an identity crisis now. the writing is leaning towards marvel which i really don't like. the art direction is all over the place and just looks off. the jello character makes me not want to take any of it seriously and is a bad match for the gow universe. please, put santa monica on a new property ASAP. this is the nail in the coffin for the gow IP.

wolverine looks fine but i have a feeling it will be very button mashy and pose little challenge. also, the blood looks like jelly. it's way too thick and doesn't spatter realistically. considering they created a system just for the blood, i think they failed in that regard.

disappointing show. very few surprises. the new reveals were B level games such as until dawn 2 so not going to make much of an impact.

A little disappointed we didn’t get to see whatever media molecule has been working on. Several things looked cool to me so I’d say it was pretty solid. Maybe more PlayStation stuff will be announced at summer games fest.

I think this was the best SoP ever. I‘ve received my PS5 Pro a couple of days ago and fml those visuals shown today are absolutely bonkers.

I was a PS5 Pro hater at the beginning but PSSR 2.0 changed that completely. The picture quality is so damn great and crisp and sharp. Sometimes I think I‘ve bought a PS6 tbh. The Pro with PSSR 2.0 fixed all the problems I had with the base launch day PS5.

I‘ve stopped buying games half a year before the Pro was announced because it was obvious that sooner a later, a Pro would be coming. And I wanted to play games in the best version possible. But then PSSR 1.0 was basically a joke and I was holding off way longer.

Gaming is great again for me, I‘ve fallen in love with it again and the new GoW, the dinosaur game, Tomb Raider etc. just blew my mind. They will look absurdly great on the Pro.

Same old. I’ll play Rayman again, with the wife this time. Lots of remakes, retro, and cookie cutter games. Lots of dull and dark horror and stealth games (and not even in VR!).
Maybe I’m getting jaded, but I’m really not getting excited about what’s being made these days.

Overall, really strong. Maybe not 'lets hype this up two weeks in advance and show it in theaters' strong, but strong.

Excellent! Hasn’t been a showcase yet where I’ve felt disappointed or came away with less than 4 new games to look forward to. Future is looking bright as ever!

It was good yet I feel slightly underwhelmed even though I didn’t have high expectations, I think this event was a bit too overhyped.

Seems Sony are almost giving up on base ps5 for these game reveals. Majority shown were ps5 pro gameplay despite this being the minority of units sold.

Can't say I hated it, mostly just release dates for games I've already been waiting for. Sony's offerings are all the same bland tripe sadly, but third party announcements were decent.
Would love for that dinosaur horror game to be good. And I might actually pick up that Rayman game if the rumors were true about it coming with an Origins Remaster.
I'm giving Capcom one last chance with Onimusha beyond my better judgement, y'know maybe it'll be more interesting than Requiem and Pragmata- fingers crossed.
I have no expectations for Silent Hill, but since every single one is handled by a different developer who can really say. Just wish it wasn't called Silent Hill.
Happy that No Rest For the Wicked is finally getting a full release!

I thought it was an underwhelming State of Play. Considering the hype behind it, it was a letdown for sure.

Sure, there were more single player games shown but too many were forgettable imho.

War franchise has never interested me. Wolverine is… Wolverine. Nothing else to be said. Still no real pursuit of new ips like we saw during the PS3 era from first party studios. Ridiculous.

Expected quite abit more....thought with them deciding to go just before Xbox that they had something special to show...but was kinda meh

Liked the look of the ILL game, wolverine I will get because I'm a big fan....god of war ...I want to play as Kratos ...but looked alright... will probably rent it

I wouldn't say it was a bad State of Play by any means, but it was lacking in meaningful surprises for me. Most of the stuff that interests me was already leaked in some form or was already announced at prior events. God of War looks great, though. I was late the party and blasted through both of the Norse games last year. I had an absolute blast with Ragnarok, so I've been craving some more of that ever since. I'm always hoping for some kind of official PS3 emulation on PS5 getting announced, but that seems less and less likely the longer this generation goes on. And it's probably folly for me to hope for any kind of Infamous news any time soon. But overall, not a bad presentation. The games that I was already interested in continue to look pretty great.

I huffed the hopium too much: I was hoping that the inFamous remake/remaster rumors were well timed for a surprise announcement here.

Still, overall a decent show. Relative to what felt like to me, a bit elevated hype level for this one, I'd say it didn't quite hit that peak. But still decent.

I went with Very Good, it was just a bit shy of Excellent imo. Wolverine, Rayman, Tomb Raider, The Lost Wild, No Rest for the Wicked Silent Hill, Onimusha, Ill, Control, Until Dawn 2 and GOW are all on the watch list so that's a good showing all round.

Man that was mediocre as hell. I'm sorry but the last State of Play was way better, that was an outstanding showcase. This was just... Okay. Barely any new game announcements and the games they did show didn't really blow my mind.

Sure you could say Sony isn't to blame for games getting leaked early, but even the new God of War game reveal wasn't that outstanding to me.

Meh. Fine as an update for games we already knew about, but nothing crazy announcement-wise.

Rayman's cool, but I need to know if there's a ton of new content before I get interested. Stuntman is neat, but I never cared about the franchise. Until Dawn 2 will almost certainly be worse than the first. So...I'll just stick with the first, I reckon. GoW looks great, but I'm not too into modern GoW and it looks like more of the same (positively puzzled why people who presumably love modern GoW seem perturbed by it. Not enough manly man sweat, I guess...?).

The Toy Story Collection from earlier honestly beat all of these rather effortlessly. Shrugs

Outside of Insomniac (for the most part) Sony's First party is cooked. What in the Forspoken art-style is Santa Monica doing?!?! GOW L and the missing-in-action Intergalactic could be biblical financial disasters.

There is absolutely going to be a significant amount of games delaying out of that September window.

It was OK. The big PS exclusives look pretty but very hollow to me but I guess I'm not the target audience (anymore) anyway.

Very solid. Not surprising by any means, but it didn't need to be - release dates were the main hope for many this time. Compared to previous shows, watching with a delay there were only a handful of things that I skipped past. Granted, I don't particularly care if it's Sony studios or third parties who pull the weight.

September/early October are looking to be a nightmare for my wallet, between Wolverine, Onimusha and Ace Combat. And Control. I forgot Control.

GoW Laufey... I like how it looks to play, but I wasn't expecting such a rapid whiplash from 'this self-narration feels so off after Kratos and BOY, I hope there's a companion character' to 'oh god, the companion characters have stupid names ('Frank'? Seriously?) and Marvel writing'.

In all honesty, pretty meh. A lot of the third party games looked great but the first-party lineup from Sony was pretty mid.

Well. Nothing really special. Wolverine hype just disappear, looks like Wolverine from Temu. God of War that is more like Dragon Age than God of War.. plus the woke plus DEI.. Control looks nice, and Phantom Blade too. Well.. it was not a good Sony show, their own IPs were nothing special. Some third parties helped to improve the overall rating.
And seriously.. Wolverine.. so much blood.. too much unrealistic blood.. cut cut cut.. enemy lands on the ground.. in one piece.. whaaat… what is this..

It was okay. The most exciting new thing for me was Stuntman. Very interested in that! Not sure how I feel about GOWL though. I'm just not really interested in GOW without Kratos personally.

I was hoping for Intergalactic to get something. I know it was a long shot but still. That's my most anticipated Playstation 1st party game.

It was alright. Wolverine looked good, but it seemed like quite a lot of it is on-rails, so unsure on it. GoW Laufey seems very visually impressive, but I have my doubts about the direction what with talking cubes and ribbons. Having a mashup of different dead gods is interesting, I think the red guy is from Mongolian mythology, and the grey lady was obviously Egyptian, so interested to see who else shows up.
Otherwise, Rayman looked great, and Until Dawn 2 was a pleasant surprise.

It was fine but nothing amazing, I'm into God of War Laufey, Wolverine, Tomb Raider and maybe Marvel Tokon.

Not pleased with the God of War game. It's just time wasted that could have been spent on a proper mainline game. Kratos is the God of War not Faye.

It also makes a central theme in the first reboot game redundant. Just call it..

God of War: Somehow Faye Returns.

Fantastic show. Until Dawn 2 was cringe inducing slop and the dialogue for Laufey looks to be about as bad as the crap in Ragnarok, but aside from that everything else looked excellent.

Wolverine seems very well polished, banishing lots of worries, and every other facet of Laufey looked to be of typical high calibre. The sheer amount of ‘single player, narrative driven experiences’ is a relief, and the general lack of anything live service is a good sign.

If they can only fire the script writers at Santa Monica and hire a decent dialogue coach, it would alleviate a big problem. People in ancient cultures in those areas at those times did not talk that way. That stupid cube was one line away from telling Laufey to ‘bust a cap in that fool’. Ugh.

A stuntman sequel a lifetime later is the biggest surprise reveal I may ever know! Was goin on about how we need these arcade racer styles back too. Driving around like Knight Rider / Miami Vice / De Lorean I recall nothing about how stuntman played out; was just a teenager but come on! Definite highlight 🫨 even showed up the GOW reveal

Crazy to see how jaded gamers are these days. You see it everywhere - on youtube etc, there’s a trend of being down on everything gaming.

I’ve been gaming since the 70s & to think we could have a collection of game experiences like this would have been absolutely staggering. Besides that, by modern standards this was fantastic.

For me the show was a 75 out of a 100 due to most games shown have been shown already just that they now have a release date. The standouts for me was ILL & GOW:Laufey. I would assume XB showing this Sunday will be several titles that will be AAA multi-plats that haven't been shown yet.

Release dates for Onimusha and Ace Combat 8, that right there is reason enough for me to rate this thing as 8 or 9.
Don't care too much about any of the other stuff in the State of Play though.

I guess Wolverine looks kinda cool though and I'll probably play it but at the end of the day it's still just another Marvel game.

I would have loved if we could a new Resistance game though or at the very least remasters of the PS3 games.

To be completely honest:
Sony seriously needs to stop pushing out these cinematic nonsense experiences and start producing old-school games again.

They're like a favourite restaurant for generations, and the menu was expansive and varied. But they realised they're really good at steak, and now all they serve is steak.

Well for me it was kinda crap, and that cube in Mum of War is so out of place it's like something you see in a disney game.

Can't say im hyped for the new god of war, can we even call it GoW without playing as kratos.

Playing as atreus in ragnarok was so boring.

Phantom Blade Zero & Wolverine are the only games that peaked my interest.

It was sick!! I wasn't worried about new games. It was just great to see games I had already wishlistmaned with more gameplay/info and/or release dates. But some of the new stuff intrigued me too like Temuri, ILL, Stuntman, Rayman.

I am so hyped though for Wolverine and Tomb Raider.

Nothing more than okay for me. But not Sonys fault. I don't want to see a bunch of games that are many years away from release so they're limited to what is just around the corner and we've basically seen it all before meaning there are no surprises.

Stuntman Hollywood was the only surprise and best thing in the show. Gow: Laufey would have been a surprise were it not for scumbag leakers ruining it.

7/10 for me. I said it on another site, but as much as I love PlayStation, this showcase once again showed me why I’m losing steam on their exclusives. The third party adventures that have the same type of gameplay gets exhausting. Don’t get me wrong, Wolverine and God of War look great—I’ll be buying them, no doubt—but I feel like I’ve seen these worlds 100x over. It all feels the same.

There were a few announcements that are interesting to me, particularly ILL and Until Dawn 2, but aside from that it felt like a showcase I’ve seen numerous times already.

Seeing as i postponed my nap to watch it live and i want my nap time back kind of say’s it all and i was a hardcore GOW fan for years. But after the 2018 reboot each one after i have little interest in playing. They don’t turn that franchise back into something i want and no Resistance or Sly Cooper, i might skip PS6 until it’s in it’s last year and just pick it up and beat a few games and re sell it.

I am happy to see many liked it as lots of work go into these shows the Big 3 put on for us. This just didn’t do much for my play style. I will get Wolverine when it’s on sale for $30 and beat it.

That was a solid 8.5 for me. A lot of the stuff shown peaked my interest and I loved that they shown so much of the new god of wars gameplay.

It was a mid State of Play for me. I was bored watching it as it felt like I've seen this before. Everything felt pedestrian and safe. Games will probably be amazing and I will get them but I have no hype for any of them so far.

Horror fans probably enjoyed the SoP. Stuntman looked like a lot of fun. I remember the Ace Combat games back in the day. Not sure I'd pay full price for it, but I'm interested in giving it a spin. The Lost Wild could be fun to play with my son as well. Outside of that, though, nothing stood out. For my first SoP, very underwhelmed.

They’re in a really good streak with State of Plays at the minute. Another very good show. Laufey looks INSANE!

The best in recent memory. So many games of the type I'm interested in, topped off by 2 Sony first party games.

The only bad point is how many games are going to struggle to sell in this brutal September/ October release schedule.
Oh, and we really need a splash screen before each trailer giving a bit of basic info like game type.

was ok il give it a 7 dont like the jelly blob purple sparkles god of war game but that ill game and tomb raider looked amazing

God of War Laufey looks fantastic don't understand the hate. Untill Dawn 2, Wolverine, The Lost Wilds, Control, Onimusha, Silent Hill it was a fantastic state of play. 10/10

It's a shame you can't have a female protagonist in games without people either bringing up the words "Woke" or "DEI", either that or people comparing they are too ugly or unrealistically attractive. These things are not a problem in gaming at all, in fact for those fixated on these labellings I'd say you're the problem, maybe revaluate your life and get some councilling if fictional female characters in games bring out so much hate.

I'm honestly not sure, but I'd say its okay, at least on this poll.

Not a lot of games interested me, but, what I guess is the Marvel segment did hype me up, and while few games interested me, I kinda lot interest in the last half hour.

And that God of War: Laufey gameplay shouldn't of been that long, I think we should of just gotten a trailer, espicially when we don't get a release window for it. As much as I would love to play as a sword weilding lady.

No PSVR2 stuff?

It was a very good SoP. Nice to see a clearer picture of what 2026 looks like though late September/early October is a bit too packed.

On a side note, Laufey having no release window but getting 20 minutes of gameplay was odd. Maybe they're saving the release date for Summer Game Fest like what happened with Spider-Man 2 in 2023?

Enjoyed the show but would have liked to see more announcements of games that hadn't been previously revealed - so until dawn 2 was a particular highlight for me.

Thought wolverine, Tokon, Tomb Raider, Onimusha, Control, and God of War (apart from the weird cube) looked excellent.

Rayman looks good, although can't help but feel the original legends didn't need a graphical change - was stunning on the Vita.

That dinosaur game looked fun but will wait to see more on that one.

they have to save stuff for later on shows , people are expecting them to show off everything all at once, but imo i thought it was a really good show , finally showed off games that have been rumored , and we got a lot of release dates ( mostly all in September to avoid gta lol).i need to figure out when on earth im going to find time to play all those games lol. also we still have the xbox game show case which will have games also on the ps5, and of course the summer game fest which will have ps5 games.

@Hylian-Likely I found out today that Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 will be at the Xbox show, I think the Xbox show will blow everything else out the water this week ngl. Persona 6 is a huge deal.

Stuntman & Psy-Ops are the only things I ended up caring about. I guess I still "care" about Wolverine, but I have reservations now.

It was ok. Part of the problem, and it's been this way for a good number of years now, is the leaks. It's unavoidable but it means these shows no longer hit like E3s of the past. Anyway, the only thing I was really interested in beforehand was a release date for Tomb Raider and while I'm glad we have one now, it's extremely disappointing that it's not this year.

Waiting til I get home later with some dispensary treats, but what I have seen is pretty exciting.
