Re: Horizon Online Snaffles Bungie's Design Lead As Guerrilla Builds All-Star Team Around Live Service PS5 Game

Rob_230

I genuinely think this game could be good. When I played HFW I remember some cut away dialogue in one of the villages talking about the clan wars. With multiple clans building up their respective village and fighting other clans over resources etc, with emergent gameplay during battle with unpredictable involvement of machines (e.g. a thunderjaw or tremortusk randomly stumbling across the fight and causing chaos requiring you to make choices over whether to run, take advantage of the distraction to take out other players etc), and most likely the ability to capture and harness powerful machines to support you in battle - I think it has alot of potential to be really good.

Also no doubt a big component of the game will be to team up with other players to take out machines to gather valuable resources to upgrade weapons, armour, gain special abilities etc. It all seems quite logical for a live service game. And I can see how special machines with unique resources and characteristics will be dropped into the game to keep things interesting

Personal preference would be to keep all the space mumbo jumbo out of it though. I MUCH prefer the more grounded stories the original games were telling

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for February 2025?

Rob_230

Nothing to get me hyped for the future of Playstation tbh. As I said in the chat, I dont think these shows are for me any more and I might skip the next one. Sony has trained me this generation to have low expectations going into State of Play and only once or twice have they exceeded them over the last couple of years. I'm very pleased for those that enjoyed the show though.

I think I am just moving past this type of delivery. On balance, this wasn't a bad show and there were a few interesting games in there. But so many looked generic or are not doing anything new. To the point I can't remember the names of half of what was shown. At least Shinobi and the midnight walk did something to differentiate themselves with the art style

I'll probably upgrade days gone because although I have the game on PS4 i never got around to playing it. And I'll be getting MGS Delta and Onimusha.

Good to learn about the Yakuza demo and the Dave the Diver dlc, and I did think Sonic racing looked fun. Also the supermassive game looks like they might have cracked the formula they have been so close to achieving with their last few releases.

Interested in the Housemarque game, but no gameplay to show - they said that is coming later in the year so hopefully Sony shows up with a showcase to show off some more heavy hitters.

Mindseye is one is really will be keeping an eye on. I'm fascinated to see how this creative shake out from Rockstar turns out over the next few years - including any impact the departures have had on GTA 6

Hopefully Square Enix turn up at that Nintendo direct in April with Final Fantasy IX remake as the wait for that announcement is getting long

Re: State of Play Confirmed for Wednesday, 40+ Minutes of PS5 News and Updates

Rob_230

Would love to see something Resident Evil and the Final Fantasy 9 remake. Would love news of an FF13 remaster too. Beyond that, I am expecting some more Astrobot content, but everything else will be a surprise. If Microsoft is there I imagine they will date Forza and Indy more than make new announcements. And it sounds like MGS will be there. Hopefully plenty of games shown rather than a couple of 10 minute trailers like we had with that boring Dragon Age boss fight last time

Re: Sony Cancels Bluepoint, Bend Studio PS5 Games, One Being a Live-Service God of War Title

Rob_230

What was Sony thinking. This is an absolutely shambolic waste of resources. A live service God of War? madness.

Bend could have been readying for release of days gone 2 or uncharted 5 (as i believe was once rumoured) at this point in the console cycle.

What an absolute let down and failure of leadership and understanding from Sony. This PS5 generation will not be remembered fondly at all.

Re: Intergalactic PS5 Is Naughty Dog's Wildest, Most Creative Story Yet

Rob_230

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare And I respect you for taking the time to respond critically and respectfully. I don't disagree with your points. I am VERY concerned about Grand Theft Auto 6 (for example) if I am being honest because it is not the same Rockstar games that existed over 10 years ago.

I have high expectations for Naughty Dog. I don't really care about the noise from everywhere else, I personally loved the Last of Us 2. I thought it was a fantastic game. And I was also disappointed by Uncharted 4 which I thought was bloated and lost some of the magic (lost legacy clears by some distance imo).

But this is a Naughty Dog game and it's fair for my expectations to be high. They have set the bar, and now it's for them to equal or clear it. Just because I am excited, does not mean I won't assess the game on its merits as we learn more about it's development.

I will close by saying dont think i blindly salivate over everything Sony develop. I have been fairly consistent and vocal in my criticisms of Playstation this generation.

Re: Okami Sequel Announced by Capcom

Rob_230

Oh my word. Absolute dream stuff. I never thought I'd see a new Okami game. This could be something very special indeed.

Okami 1 is in my top 10 games of all time ever since I bought it on PS2, and I think I have bought every remaster released since. Very special place in my heart this one

Re: PlayStation Thanks the Fans with Emotional 30th Anniversary Montage

Rob_230

I was slightly late to the party (I got mine aged 7 in 1998) but I remember going to a friend's and playing his brand new N64 with Mario 64, coming home and pleading my parents for one. My parents - who showed zero interest in gaming however - had read about this system that was apparently the future in the newspaper and decided I was having that for Christmas instead.

Off I went to Electronics Boutique (at the time - Now GAME) and picked up a PS1 with gran turismo, tomb raider 2, fifa 99, and wipeout 2097 (and my older brother got resident evil 2). My mind was absolutely blown and I've loved Playstation ever since.

Absolutely terrifying that it's been 30 years since it launched in Japan but a sign of how significant and influential Sony's initial foray into gaming was. What a console that little grey box turned out to be.

Re: PlayStation Exec Shuhei Yoshida Will Leave the Company in January

Rob_230

@Anthony_Daniels Because he is a link to what has become an otherwise faceless corporation. Shuhei interacts with the community - Heck, im a nobody and have had interactions with him on twitter. The importance of having a representative who clearly loves the business and connects with the fans is too easily understated

People like him. And developers like him. He may not have a hugely impact full role these days in terms of operating Sony's business, but he has still contributed to picking up unique titles for the Playstation platform over the past few years.

As I say earlier however. Wish him nothing but the best and hope he enjoys whatever comes next. Legend

Re: Feature: Why Would Sony Want to Buy Kadokawa?

Rob_230

Makes more sense than some of Sony's recent acquisitions in terms of fitting the mold of what they look for.

If they are bringing From Software in house, i do wonder if they would prefer to make them a full first party studio (even if they still release games on other platforms) given the mess with Bungie. But I guess each situation needs considering on its own merits

My question is if Sony will be allowed to purchase Kadokawa given the existing grip they have on the anime sector.

For what its worth I have thought for some time Sony is missing a left-field Japanese dev like spike chunsoft.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 553

Rob_230

@Kraven i hear you. I was struggling to get the hype with Metaphor when i started. I felt so overwhelmed with the time management in a way i didnt with Persona 4 and 5 - which are two of my favourite games - for some reason.

I recommend sticking with it. After I finished the first dungeon something suddenly clicked with me. I went out to the desert outside grand trad and grinded for a while and found that actually I was levelling up archetypes surprisingly quickly which helped me relax more that I wasn't investing in the wrong classes (given the mag cost for switching is free after your initial switch for each character). Getting the bond level up a level with More to allow you to swap archetypes from the menu was a big help.

Then I unlocked the merchant class by completing a side quest in grand trad and have started absolutely drowning in cash meaning I can buy more equipment so I don't need to worry about being underpowered when I switch archetypes.

I'm starting to feel the Persona vibes now, so do stick with it 🙂
