Re: The Last of Us 2 Delayed Again Due to Coronavirus Epidemic

RenanLK

@AdamNovice Well aware, I'm a software developer. Just saying that it should have went gold months ago.

Anyway, I hope I didn't upset anyone too much with what I said. I love ND games. And after so long, and after delays, and living in a quarantine in my city, it's incredibly disappointing and hard to believe.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Delayed Again Due to Coronavirus Epidemic

RenanLK

@AhmadSumadi I can understand that. I'm working remotely for a few weeks now, due to the virus. My point is that there are even news of crunch hours and all. And they have delayed the game before already. So it comes down to (1) they didn't manage properly the scope of work vs resources and audience expectations, or (2) they believe the current context would affect their sales due to the theme of the game and difficulty to reach retailers. Due to the "final bugs" thing, I'm a little more inclined to the first option.

Re: The Last of Us 2 Delayed Again Due to Coronavirus Epidemic

RenanLK

@Alfieburns @AhmadSumadi Honestly? Product managers should plan for it. This is one of the most expected games on PlayStation for years. They certainly couldn't predict it, but they could react to it. Instead they suspended it indefinitely one month prior to release. Were they waiting until the release month to start manufacturing the physical media? For marketing? There're no other ways to showcase the game?

I can understand the strategy to avoid losing sales, though. But ND just gives me that Hideo Kojima feeling of "it's not perfect yet, let's postpone the release".

Re: Guide: Best Resident Evil Games Ranked

RenanLK

Can't speak for RE3 yet, but I have a feeling it'll be a short, yet amazing game.

RE0 should get some more love though. It's right up there with RE1R in my opinion. It's a really good game. Also, RE2R is better than RE4.

Considering that I didn't play RE3R and RE7, my list so far would be:
1. RE2R
2. RE4
3. RE1R
4. RE0
5. RE5
6. RE6

And my bet is that this will be my list after playing them:
1. RE2R
2. RE7
3. RE4
4. RE3R
5. RE1R
6. RE0
7. RE5
8. RE6

Re: Fans Show Displeasure at Disappointing Road to PS5 Reveal

RenanLK

Look, guys, I understand the argument that they did what they said they would do, that this was not the official reveal.

But let's be real, everyone and their grandmas want to see the PS5 in action and Sony has been silent for so long. Everyone was home in quarantine. We wondered if among the architectural stuff, the console would be shown, maybe the controller or some tech demos to showcase its features. Sony didn't schedule this as a reveal. But this became the official reveal in the end. For the consumer, the player. Simple as that. They should have realized it and reviewed the presentation.

It's not that the average gamer is stupid. It's that Sony did not understand the context where it was sharing this.

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's PS5 Deep Dive Reveal?

RenanLK

Good lord, this presentation was awful... Sure, it would work perfectly in GDC, but this was online for everyone. And everyone was crazy to hear anything about PS5.

Now they revealed the details, in the most boring way imaginable. The impact of the "official reveal" now is gonna be more in line with "yea? big deal".

Re: Resident Evil 3 Recap Trailer Tells the Series' Story Up to Now

RenanLK

I've caught up with the series so far, including RE0. But nice work, Capcom!

I watched this nice video the other day from a Brazilian youtuber sharing the evolution of the series, and how Capcom almost went bankrupt around the release of RE6; but they completely reinvented themselves for RE7, and then Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter: World and RE2. It's amazing to see what talented people can achieve when they put their minds in the right place.

Re: Sony Santa Monica Boss Shannon Studstill Leaves to Lead New Google Stadia Studio

RenanLK

Well, Google is playing its cards. It has so much money that it can afford lots of years until Stadia hits.

It scares me though. Google is everywhere. I can't even access a result of a search directly anymore, they redirect us to caches in their own servers. Any business domain they're not in yet, they purchase a company that is. I love PlayStation and Nintendo; for their sake and ours, I hope Stadia fails.

Re: Multiple Kingdom Hearts Games Now in Development, One 'Coming Surprisingly Soon'

RenanLK

Sooner than expected? Great, a new Kingdom Hearts is coming prior to PlayStation 6!

Anyway, I see some people complaining about KH3, and as a long time fan, let me add something to this discussion. Overall, KH3 has the most amazing graphics and animations the series has ever seen. The worlds are vast and cool to explore. The story is nice IMO, the only problem being that the ending didn't really finish the saga for me, instead leaving a huge question mark.

But the game's biggest flaw really is something called Attractions. They pop up every minute in every fight, turning a really cool fight full of animations into a boring mini-game that beats all the enemies. It's amazing when you're fighting Titans and a rollercoaster pops up, but it's not so cool to skip every single fight with spinning cup teas or whatever. Seriously, if they could add a "Disable Attractions out of boss battles" option to the game, it would become a whole lot better.

That aside though, I enjoyed my time playing KH3.

Re: Gallery: Latest Resident Evil 3 PS4 Screenshots Are a Sight to Behold

RenanLK

I'm sold. This game looks amazing! I'm in a horror games trend at the moment, currently playing all RE games since Zero. Sure, this one is actually gonna be more action than scare (with Nemesis aside), but still I really want to play it.

But starting a discussion, given the remakes of RE2 and RE3, and how different they are to RE7, and the fact that all of these are amazing, which way RE8 is going to take?

What I read was that it's going to be completely different from RE8. I feel that the gang is gonna be back for more, and the gameplay will be akin to RE2/RE3 with the horror focus of RE7. Maybe a new mansion? =D

Re: Talking Point: Did The Game Awards 2019 Deliver the Hype?

RenanLK

I watched more than half of it, but couldn't make it to the end, it was past midnight and I was quite tired. These are my impressions based on what I saw:

  • Xbox reveal was, well... Ok, I guess. I expected more excitement for a new console announcement. This and the fact that it looks awful! Stadia's argument for "your console takes space from your living room" seems to apply to the new green box.
  • Speaking of Stadia, funny ad, but I still don't buy their selling points. Game streaming is the future, but globally we're not quite ready yet.
  • The show looks like the Oscars. But that's pretty much it. I couldn't care less about the awards or nominees. They distribute them like candy. "Hey, for Best Gamers in the Living Room we have A, B, C and D, the winner is B! And the next award is...". Come on, prepare a video or something for each nominee so that we're aware of what they did. That's a big part of the Oscars, you get to know about some interesting movies you missed, and learn about new artists.
