Sony does realize that no matter how explicit they say it, people will watch the State of Play expecting PS5 news, right? At this point, ignoring that is a poor business decision, IMO.
That would roughly translate to R$ 350.00 in Brazil, which is way too much for an entertainment product. The standard price here for a new game has been R$ 250.00 for a while, which is still too much, but I'm ok with it since I only purchase games with this price when they're must-haves from day 1.
My God, that's so sad and painful to read. This can't be tolerated at all! For those discussing why PlayStation would fight against hate speech, this is why!
I feel sorry for Naughty Dogs's employees, they're some of the best talents in the industry! I hope they can manage to ignore these awful comments.
I didn't renew my sub this year. Not enough value to justify it, I haven't played any of the games given monthly past year and I rarely play online. Not sure about what Sony could do to appeal to gamers like me.
I don't thin E3 is going to be the same again, but I also believe it can be an important event for gaming. As much as I appreciate Nintendo Direct-esque presentations, the time of announcing games years before release is gone for me, no patience to watch trailers for something that's barely an idea - in this sense, E3 is perfect because publishers can wait until closer to release and announce stuff at E3.
I do believe E3 needs to change, though. Digital presentations, maybe trying games by streaming or downloading demos during the period, with live comments from devs, I don't know. They need to change somehow.
After playing Spider-Man twice in a row aiming for 100% both times, I can barely wait for this one! Also, given our current social context, it's awesome to see a black protagonist in a AAA game.
@Spinachie Easy, try to spot a difference in a 32" TV wearing glasses for astigmatism. To be honest, even without astigmatism it's hard to spot any difference in a 32" TV. It all comes down to how big your TV is and how far you're from it.
One of the reasons I'd rather stick to 1080p TVs. It just feels like a huge waste of hardware and internet bandwidth to transfer 4K images around the web. Imagine using all those resources for something other than a new resolution that we can't even notice unless the TV is huge! Not to mention it would reduce the demand on Netflix/YouTube/Other servers...
Anyway, I'll definitely watch with my headphones, let's see what this new audio tech is all about.
Not in UK, but I've got Days Gone, RE7 and Ni No Kuni. I had to control myself to not buy Death Stranding and a few others I really wanna play.
I'm spending far more money than usual in games every month than I did before the quarantine, even with a backlog to play. Are you folks also spending more?
For games in general, any Super Mario game from World to Odyssey is a given. But back to PlayStation I'd have to say Uncharted series, Last of Us, Spider-Man, Tomb Raider series, Resident Evil series and Kingdom Hearts series are all games that I played countless times already. This generation is seriously one of the best ever, if not the best.
@TheArt Totally agree with you, the main problem with Ubisoft and open-world games in general is how hard it is to identify where you are because it all feels too similar sometimes.
Well, if you think about it, Sony's business is mostly behind the scenes in the remaining sectors, that's why we don't think about it. Their electronics are embedded in non-Sony devices for example, such as their cameras.
Honestly, it's quite obvious that a powerful new hardware is gonna run today's games a lot better with the new slogans "no loading screen", "amazing graphics", and so on. But I remain skeptical about games coming 3 years from now. Once dev studios start using the full technology, we'll once again have loading screens and 30fps, specially as they learn the limits of the hardware.
It would be cool if they announced RE1 ReRemake in the new engine as a cross-gen launch title, then RE8 as next-gen only and afterwards RE4 Remake. One can only hope...
I assume that most publishers have a contract with Sony and Microsoft about holding their announcements until PS5 and Xbox are properly announced. So I'll expect some updates on existing games and maybe one or two teasers.
Much like other folks here, I'm thinking about skipping Day 1 as well. I'll definitely buy a PS5, but from everything we know so far about next-gen, which is not much, it's the first time for me that new videogames aren't exciting at all. And to top it all, there's no word about pricing and date, so I have no clue how much I'd need to reserve.
I haven't watched it yet, looking forward to do it as soon as possible!
Based on your comments, my hope is that the realistic graphics depicting violence doesn't get so unconfortable to the point I need to take a break from the game every now and then.
Am I the only one who actually wants to experience how the game plays out after reading the spoilers? It seems we're in for a genre-defining game again.
@GamingFan4Lyf For a long time, I agreed with you. It caused me some bad moments already.
Back in PS3 era, specially being a completionist, I couldn't avoid seeking them all for a few months, when I first got in contact with them. I hated it, it destroyed the fun in playing games, because they forced me to do boring stuff and extend my playthrough way longer than needed. I put an end to it when I was playing one my favorite games, Kingdom Hearts, an action RPG, and there were trophies asking me to keep using the original weapon through the entire game and do a speed run (so basically killing customization and exploration, which are two things I love in gaming).
I still find it hard to avoid seeking trophies when they start popping up, or when they don't pop up for too long (because I know they're there). But it's easier than it used to be.
Playing Nintendo is so much better in this regard, because all I do is enjoy the game without worrying about statistics.
I do understand that other gamers like trophies, though. If they could offer a "disable" feature, as in the list of trophies disappears, I'd like that.
I agree completely! The recent RE games prove that the audience is there for games with smaller and interactive worlds. Open world decorative worlds are tiresome after so many titles...
Well, I'll put RE4 purchase on hold, then. My goal was to play the entire franchise, so far I went through RE0 to RE3. If they're going to remake RE4, I better wait...

Re: State of Play Confirmed for This Week, Will Focus on PS4 and PSVR Games Along with Some PS5 Game Updates
Sony does realize that no matter how explicit they say it, people will watch the State of Play expecting PS5 news, right? At this point, ignoring that is a poor business decision, IMO.
But then, what do I know? ¯\__(ツ)__/¯
Re: Poll: When Will You Buy a PS5?
I want to pre-order it, but it depends on the price, which Sony is not willing to share for some weird reason.
I wish I knew the price by now, at least I could save for it.
Re: The Big PlayStation Store Summer Sale Starts on Wednesday
I'm looking forward to check out the titles. It's my birthday in August and of course I'm gifting myself some new games. =)
Re: When Is the Ubisoft Forward Event?
Nothing quite like Ubi to kick-off next gen properly. They know how to build excellent trailers.
Re: Poll: Would You Pay $70 for a Brand New PS5 Game?
That would roughly translate to R$ 350.00 in Brazil, which is way too much for an entertainment product. The standard price here for a new game has been R$ 250.00 for a while, which is still too much, but I'm ok with it since I only purchase games with this price when they're must-haves from day 1.

Re: Marvel's Avengers: Everything We Know So Far
Nice guide! I was not aware that this game was targetting a Destiny-like experience.
Re: Poll: Which Version of the PS5 Do You Plan to Buy?
I have no idea if my PS4's disc drive works since I never used it. It's an easy choice for me. Glad to get a lower price too. =)
Re: Crash Bandicoot 4 Has Local Multiplayer, According to PSN Listing
Could be similar to the original Donkey Kong Country games, where you could partner as different characters or play one at a time separately.
Re: Report: PS5's Price Could Be $50 Cheaper if You Go for the Digital Edition
$50 difference in multiple exchange rates is actually a big deal.
Re: Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time Officially Revealed, Coming to PS4 in 2020

Re: Gallery: PS5's Design Is Unorthodox But Unforgettable
@get2sammyb Any idea about the measures of the console? It looks quite tall in vertical position.
Re: Gallery: PS5's Design Is Unorthodox But Unforgettable
It grew on me as well. I gotta say that I love the colors, the controller and accessories though.
Speaking of accessories, what is the point of the remote?

They should stop promoting a half truth.
Re: Resident Evil Resistance Adds Playable Nemesis with Latest Update
To be honest, I never played it and I probably won't play it at all. I purchased RE3 for RE3, Resistance just happened to tag along.
I hope using Nemesis is fun for those enjoying Resistance, though. =)
Re: PlayStation Studios Animation Can Be Tailored to Certain Franchises
Nice touch. Marvel did it before, but I believe replicating a good idea is never a bad thing.

Tony Hawk used to mean fun couch co-op time with friends. Hopefully we can have more couch co-op high quality games in PS5.

Re: Talking Point: What PlayStation Franchises Should Sony Bring Back on PS5?
They should bring back Twisted Metal.
And even though it's not up to Sony, they should finance new Harry Potter games similar to the 1-3 back on PS1 and PS2.

That dynamic theme is so beautiful!
Re: How Well Do You Know Your Assassin's Creed Protagonists?
@get2sammyb Last of Us might be a good topic given that Part II is almost here. Or maybe a challenging one on PS4-era prior to PS5 release.
Re: How Well Do You Know Your Assassin's Creed Protagonists?
7 out of 8, not bad. I didn't know Altair's year.
Great quiz, Push Square! Feel free to create a quiz of the week! =D

I hope they announce it soon.
