After already being officially delayed to late May, The Last of Us: Part II has unfortunately been pushed back once more to an unspecified date. This is because of the current coronavirus epidemic, with Naughty Dog stating that development is almost finished as the final bugs are put to bed.
In a statement posted to Twitter, the studio said: "However, even with us finishing the game, we were faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn't launch The Last of Us: Part II to our satisfaction. We want to make sure that everyone gets to play The Last of Us: Part II around the same time, ensuring that we're doing everything possible to preserve the best experience for everyone."
The Last of Us: Part II no longer has a release date anymore, leaving us having to wait that little bit longer for Joel and Ellie's follow-up adventure. Of course, it's entirely understandable why this has happened. Are you disappointed? Let us know in the comments below.

I don't buy their excuse. They designed something huge and amazing without proper planning, hence why they need yet another delay, without a final date.
Such a shame but it’s understandable in the circumstances.
May as well make it a cross gen ps5 launch title the. Why not release it digitally. Bad call imo.
2020 sucks.
I am sure they will bring it out. This was one of the years most high anticipated games so they won't just scrap it. If anything maybe it will be a PS5 launch game.
PS5 launch title? I wouldn't mind that at all!
@FearIsUseful lol classic TV moment.
Hmm seems to be this was a decision based on finances and profit as opposed to anyone’s safety.. they should have stick to there original launch date as this could affect the PS5 launch, or it’s planned release of official news.
@RenanKJ yeah, because of course game developers should make plans just in case of a global pandemic!
They could launch on time I'm sure, but think of the challenges of organising a global launch in the current climate.
@RenanKJ They can rely on digital sales and hamper the game due to the fact that so many places are closed. Or they can delay it and wait until things get right? Which sounds more prudent?
They could have easily launched this digitally, it sounds more like they were concerned with losing sales through lack of physical availability
@WebHead Because they clearly stated they still have "final bugs" to deal with..?
@Genrou well ofcourse they won't cancel the game.
no doubt about that.
but most likely it will now release alongside the ps5. heck maybe GOT aswell.
@RogerRoger I feel people need to understand this in all things these days.
I wonder if the developers got told about the delay before the reason and had immediate anxiety about more crunch.
Also remarkable, that the game is delayed purely for profitability reasons, rather than the stated "Everyone at once."
Can't convince me.
And hey, Ghost of Tsushima is next. Now THAT is a game that is never coming out.
@WebHead I'm with you on this, Digital should be the way to go. With FF7 Remake I can see that discs have already been shipped so they dont want ppl canceling preorders to get the digital version a few days sooner. But for TLoU2 idk why they wouldnt just go digital. 🤷🏾♂️
Literally every single ND game gets multiple delays, this is nothing if not expected. Also the fact like 70% of the workforce has left or something stupid is probably an issue. That twitter video that made the rounds a few weeks ago (with the awful snow effects) probably hasn't helped matters. Release it when it's ready, my wallet is thankful.
2020 sucks. Wish it was gone.
Disappointed? Very.
Surprised? Not at all.
Understanding? Totally.
I've got more than enough to tide me over.
@AhmadSumadi I slammed the “under” with the 0.5 people knowing where that gif came from bet. Good to see that somehow my gambling skills have gotten worse since the world screeched to a halt
@nookie_egg from what both ND and Sony have said it sounds like it would be ready for its launch. They just don't believe they can ship the physical disc and are worried about losing sales
a few understand that digital sales aren't everything..ND will sell thousand of copies to retailers and they don't need to worry when these will be sold out..they will have the cash upfront.
I am no longer interested in this game. Haven't liked their last couple games that much.
@Ken_Kaniff 99%? I doubt that's a real statistic...
Everything after April was highly suspect. Bigger issues anyways. Im sure there is something in the back log that needs attention. Mine Includes Days Gone, Strange Brigade and actually seeing The Last Guardian through to completion
@AhmadSumadi you’re right it’s closer to 99.9999999% duh
There’s more to a launch than just getting copies into stores. They need to market it, for example. They need to get the game in front of press, including mainstream media. It’s not as simple as pushing the button on a digital release.
@FearIsUseful Can't believe they killed James. Killed the show too.
@Ken_Kaniff I’m ok with digital but come on, 99% 😂😂
@carlos82 Because the title has already had multiple delays, it probably isn't the best look for a company (and in this case developers and publishers) to stand up and say "yeah, we have not exactly used the time effectively, we got over ambitious and it is a bug riddled mess and is nowhere near ready". It has already had several delays, and that recent twitter video of the snow is not exactly good press The fact that the so called crunch (12 hour shifts is something I do every day but besides the point) is hugely publicised and how many of the staff get turned over all factors in. Not buying the excuse myself, but like I say, it releases when it releases and I'll be there day one.
@get2sammyb I wonder if maybe they thought marketing this type of game during what is going on world wide at this time is just bad taste.
@Alfieburns @AhmadSumadi Honestly? Product managers should plan for it. This is one of the most expected games on PlayStation for years. They certainly couldn't predict it, but they could react to it. Instead they suspended it indefinitely one month prior to release. Were they waiting until the release month to start manufacturing the physical media? For marketing? There're no other ways to showcase the game?
I can understand the strategy to avoid losing sales, though. But ND just gives me that Hideo Kojima feeling of "it's not perfect yet, let's postpone the release".
You all see big businesses and major sports leagues shutting down due to coronavirus and some of you are thinking that a video game delay is simply using it as an excuse? Imagine it launches and there's no Best Buy to get it from? Imagine everyone ordering from Amazon (Because "99%" don't buy digital) and orders are delayed due to constraints and COVID-19. There are so many things at play here that I called this weeks ago...
Too bad. I was hoping this would help me tide the quarantine. Now I have to resort to other games
just a shame that some comments on here are already implying lies from ND and just being immature because they either can't handle the delay or are using this delay as an excuse to bash the game because they don't like the devs/game in the first place.
and if they where to release it digital only people would riot on here, just look at the FF7 articles about hard copies of the game maybe not arriving on time but the people refusing to get a digital version. (understandably)
so instead of being mature about things, and not jumping to different conclusions out of spite for whatever reason, some people just need to show their discontent at ND via this delay for some easy likes. shame.
Dammit.
Let's just cancel 2020 full stop. Top Gun 2 moved to December today now yet another delay to one of the most anticipated games of all time.
Dammit.
Awful lot of hate for ND here for some reason. People saying about digital sales would have made them money but not long ago people were freaking out about next gen not having physical releases. Plus this is a game where a virus ended civilisation and is passed through physical contact. Not exacty the best story to release in a pandemic. Also where are people getting 'its a buggy mess' from? Overhype may be its downfall but ND games are usually very polished
And it’s always more fun to live in a world where last of us 2 is due to come out, versus a world where last of us 2 has been and gone.
I mean, imagine a world after FF7 has been remade.
You hate to see it, but with that blasted virus being such a problem, it's completely understandable.
F*ck!!! I hope the ps5 doesn’t get delay next.
@RenanKJ I work for a bank. 2 weeks ago we were told we'd be closing our lobby till April 3rd. On Monday we were told we'll be closing our lobby until April 17th. Judging from the current situation I think when the 17th comes we'll be told of another delay. Unfortunately that's the current state of the world.
This game is big and it would most definitely be hampered were they to release it in this climate. Also, I bet PS5 and XBOX don't release holiday 2020. Unfortunately that's the current state of the world...
I was really looking forward to this but I can wait a few more months
@Jay767 I'm almost certain it will be. Like 99% lol.
I have more than enough to play, enough to probably last me the rest of the year in fact, but I was definitely going to drop everything else and buy this first weekend of release.
Oh well....
☹️
I won't be surprised if maybe GoT swaps places with TLOU 2 and comes out the first of the 2. It's a shame as I had the week off for when it was coming out but it is what is. Getting it right is more important than when it comes out.
Edit: actually reading the Naughty Dog message I don't think it will be a massive delay and will still be before GoT.
Good, will get it for PS5 now.
@Genrou That's a great point. The Hunt was delayed after a mass shooting and many films got delayed due to terrorist attacks. These things happen.
The fact that people are surprised by this news shows how little people know what's going in the world.
One day after april fools.naughty dog sure picks the right time.but its all good.take your time.word up son
To be fair, I’m not sure TLOU is the sort of world I’d like to escape to just now anyway!
@AhmadSumadi I can understand that. I'm working remotely for a few weeks now, due to the virus. My point is that there are even news of crunch hours and all. And they have delayed the game before already. So it comes down to (1) they didn't manage properly the scope of work vs resources and audience expectations, or (2) they believe the current context would affect their sales due to the theme of the game and difficulty to reach retailers. Due to the "final bugs" thing, I'm a little more inclined to the first option.
@FearIsUseful haha florida good times.one of the best tv show ever.word up son
As someone who hasnt bought a physical PS4 game since Knack at launch I would like to say: this stinks.
@AhmadSumadi I remember the movie Gangster Squad had to have some scenes reshot and the movie delayed after Dark Knight Shooting in Colorado. So it's not hard to believe thats why TLoU2 is getting delayed.
@jdv95 I think people would have understood if they said they had to launch digitally only, perhaps have some kind of special edition for those that really want physical to get a disc too, as and when it would be ready.
I definitely don't want people risking their health over games but it sounds like it would have been ready and the vast majority of people could have bought it digitally
MS has to be licking there chops right now since Sonys falling apart at the seam. First almost four months of silence while MS built us the Xbox. Then they botched the reveal. Now their delaying multiple games. Now I'm just waiting for Sony to delay the PS5 and MS to swoop in like they did with the 360, since they've already announced a November release date. Feels like the PS3 days all over again, but worse.
I completely understand why it's been delayed. I really hope
Ghost of Tsushima isn't next.
Some of you are beyond clueless when it comes to how the industry works.
1) Not everyone wants to get digital, myself included cos I want to get the game cheaper then the full price on PSN.
2) It's only it's second delay so come off it with the multiple delays and buggy state nonsense.
3) PS4 exclusives sell an awful lot in physical sales so of course it's a concern for Sony cos before this year TLOU2 was probably on track to sell 15 million units.
4) This is only the beginning, GoT, Iron Man, Cyberpunk and others will likely fall too due to lack of work getting done and concern of lack of profits because retailers can't get the stock in. It's already happening with FFVII where some are getting copies early and some including me are getting it after launch. That's what Sony want to avoid.
And 5) If you want to help get these games out quicker then (providing you don't do essential work) then STAY AT HOME.
@RenanKJ Every game has bugs, doesn't matter how polished you make it.
@Nyne11Tyme play your backlog playa.how are you enjoying Strange brigade.word up son
Disappointed but not surprised given the circumstances. Oh well, I hope they release more Ellie editions...
@Flynmay I guess it's going to be delayed as well, unfortunately. It would be very odd if they managed to release it while ND couldn't. Sony is publishing both, isn't it?
Disappointed for sure, but on the bright side, now I have more time to clear out the backlog
@Ken_Kaniff That November release date is tentative for anything and everything right now. And the Sony news that hit everyone hard at first didn't shake Sony like you think it has. There are more articles about PS5's speed that there are about it's lack of teraflops. There are more articles about devs being excited for the console than there are about Series X's power. I think you're overreacting.
I can understand the delay.I would even understand if they delayed ghost of tshushima. But if they delay cyberpunk it would be ridiculous. Simply because cyberpunk doesnt come out till late September. If theyres going to be a delay on that,at least wait it out till August,to see how things are globall the.
@AdamNovice Well aware, I'm a software developer. Just saying that it should have went gold months ago.
Anyway, I hope I didn't upset anyone too much with what I said. I love ND games. And after so long, and after delays, and living in a quarantine in my city, it's incredibly disappointing and hard to believe.
Inb4 PS5 cross gen launch game
To add to my last post in this thread, totally forgot cyberpunk is releasing on both ps4 and xboxone.
@hulkie I see things like this; If a September release is getting delayed I'm more concerned about the state of the world than the video game. If something that's set to release 5 months from now is still being affected by coronavirus we're in trouble!
@Ken_Kaniff Are you for real? Take a look outside and see why Sony are delaying games. Why cinemas aren't showing any films anymore. Why sports stadiums are been turned into hospitals. Because everyone is trying to adjust around a freaking global pandemic!
I'm expecting it to be delayed as well & sony are publishing both. @RenanKJ
@get2sammyb some good points and I do agree to an extent but how much marketing does The Last of Us 2 require with the Playstation community? Plus you have avenues such as YouTube to advertise.
For example if Nintendo slapped Mario Kart 9 on it's own store tomorrow following a direct, I reckon it still might sell incredibly well.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Ghost of Tshushima or any other games due to launch in this period
I’m hoping this is them being sensitive about the theme of the game. Rather than every first party game that was expected to have a physical release now going to be delayed.
I would hope that if they do lose the ability to print discs they would release games as it’s digital only rather than delaying them.
@AhmadSumadi I agree ,but you cant tell me if they come out this week and say cyberpunk delayed, they cant know this far in advance the state of the world in September. Last of us 2 understood, because its now April, and they have some rough idea of how things will be in late May.
Damn this cordyseps epidemic.
Sad day indeed.
I do understand; but, it's quite a coincidence that a real-world disease is delaying a game with a world that revolves around a disease (albeit one caused by parasitic spores).
Looks like Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition will be my May game purchase, instead (assuming it, too, isn't delayed).
I think it's safe to say, 2020 will go down in history as ''The year of delays and Teraflops''.
No no no, I just finished the first game, I want to play the sequel asap 😭
@carlos82 But what about billboards TV commecials, sponsors at sports events. That all costs money and would be difficult to do in the current climate. Marketing is very important to a game like TLOU because it has pull with a casual audience who don read gaming websites or Youtube so Sony has to reach out to them. It was the same with Spider-Man.
@kyleforrester87 I won't live long enough to see a world where FFVII has been remade 😂
@hulkie oh for sure. I'm saying when it comes to that point if there's a delay then we're not in a good place globally.
@PSbest a lot of people won’t have money for luxuries at the moment
@AdamNovice what sports events and whose outside to look at billboards? Everyone is at home so TV commercials and YouTube will be getting a lot of views these days and I think nowadays the majority will get their information online anyway, every time there's a hint of PS5/Series X information it's all over Facebook, Twitter etc
They may well have looked into it, I'm just sounding off on what I think could have been achieved
@nessisonett
That has to be at least part of the reason, right? Enjoying the heck out Animal crossing right now. Happy and bright little piece of escapism. Although I have to admit I'm also enjoying shanking cultists and mercenaries in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey also.
@carlos82 Sony have previous done God ofWar commecials at basketball games, so it's possible they similar marketing tactics for TLOU. I'm not saying it could be done but there's loads of variables why such decisions are been made right now. Sony clearly don't value a staggered release and would most likely hurt profits.
The Wait of Us.
just wait untill cyberpunk has to be delayed.
everyone will respond with acceptance and understanding.
but ofcourse since TLOU is a PS exclusive people just have to jump to the chance to bash it. even some pushsquare members.
(not suprising since this place grows more toxic by the week)
also people can't stand delays yet scream fire when a company has to do overtime to get the game out on time with the quality it needs. again people just don't know what they want.
being an internet critic is so easy so ofcourse people prefer that instead of using their brains while typing coments.
It was inevitable really, but it’s still disappointing. Ghost of Tsushima will be next 🙁
Wow I can't believe anyone is upset about a game delay. Most are going to do it and it's just a fact. Movies, TV shows, Sports & video games lets face it everything is canceled. 😉
@Octane #ACNH4LIFE
10 million, TEN MILLION, people just went on unemployment in the US the past 2 weeks. Digital copies aren't free.
Anybody have a size for this game yet b/c internet bandwidth is being throttled anywhere, wanna wait 3 days for your game to download. Yes, pre-loading is a thing, but it's still a lot to download.
Does it suck? Everything sucks these days, why expect this to be any different.
@playstation1995 just started but so far i really like. Glad your OK bro. Didnt see ya on in a while and I know your in NYC. I lost a family member who lives in Little Italy to this mess. Stay safe
This is fine. People need a little more perspective. There are so many working cogs being disrupted by Coronavirus that this was always a possibility. Sony couldnt release this digitally because a big chunk of their audience exclusively buy physical releases. As soon as that digital release drops, all those waiting on the physical release risk having the game spoiled. Because thats how people on the internet work.
Digital releases will also require more people than commentators might think. It isnt just one person pressing a button marked go. The very same people who, you know, might not be working because they are sick, or because they have been furloughed/lost their jobs.
I live in the UK, but have people not seen the unemployment rates in the US? Take your heads out of the sand. This is serious!
These are not normal times. We shouldn't be getting upset because a release has been delayed. Its unreasonable. Its offensive to accuse Sony of being concerned only about profits. Particularly on a day they launched a 100 million dollar fund to support people impacted by Coronavirus. And its ignorant of all those people who are getting sick or losing their jobs. Your video game is not essential.
Yet again, quite shameful behaviour by a small minority.
Just play a game from your enormous backlogs for the time being. This will arrive soon enough and when its safe and possible to do so.
@rjejr
According to what I've been reading, the game will be on 2 Blu Ray Discs, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2.
The size, give or take, would be near to or just above 100gb.
Dang.... I was counting on this distraction from Norry Dawg to assuage my insanity in this lockdown scenario!! I thought I coulda maybe lasted till May with the promise of LoU2 on the horizon! Now ... I' ain't so sure!!
@AdamNovice i recommend hitting the ignore button on our friend ken. Hes a spoilt brat. Ive had enough of his self entitled, ignorant posts on here. he's either just a troll or has to seriously reconsider priorities. For months he's slammed sony for daring to not reveal their ps5 plans on his schedule. And tonights performance has pushed me to press ignore. Pathetic
I remember everyone bashing Sony for cancelling their presence in gaming events because of the virus, accusing them for using it as an excuse as they have nothing to show. What happens later? Surprise surprise, gaming events left and right either delayed or outright cancel for the same reason.
What can we take from all of this? Simple, expect more and more gaming companies follow suit with all these delay announcement. Sony is just ahead of the curve.
@Rob_230 He is a troll through and through no doubt about it.
@Nyne11Tyme. wow you lost a family member.what city are you from playa.im from new york.everything is good where imat.word up son
@Rob_230 You're trying to be reasonable on the internet? Gettoutahere!
@thefirst Hoho not for me, I have backlogs all the way back in 2018 😅
@Rob_230 Congratulations to you for being the most sensible person on the internet right now. The brats and trolls are out in full force tonight.
I was just reading the comments on the twitter post and then here, and my friend was reading my screen beside me.
"Tell me these aren't all man-children living in their mammy's houses."
I was struggling to put the words together to defend nerds and gamers in general, then I saw your posts.
"Yet again, quite shameful behaviour by a small minority."
"Hes a spoilt brat. Ive had enough of his self entitled, ignorant posts on here. he's either just a troll or has to seriously reconsider priorities."
These two comments in particular just saved me a right feckin headache. Good on you. If I could, I'd give you a can.
Everyone has enough stress right now. Doing their Jobs as best they can.
Better to just delay and not promise a new Date for now. People can work on it as fast as possible as they try not to get sick.
Maybe I'll get it with my PS5 now (if that still launches on time)
@Shepherd_Tallon I totally avoid Twitter if I were you, one of the most toxic social platform personally. Is kinda sad to see this toxicity seeping in to this site as well 😑
@Leon_93 Yeah you're not wrong. I used to love coming to the comments section here for a chat. We used to shut down trolls when they started blabbing. The only responses they got were along the lines of, "That won't work here, move along." But for some reason they run rampant now.
I won't lie, I got so sick of it a few weeks ago that I deleted my account, but I came back for the good eggs that are still here.
I mean people can be disappointed, but some perspective please, for feck sake. It's a pandemic.
Me and @rjejr called this several days ago.
My theory was the subject matter of the game seemed to hit a little too close to reality and it might come across insensitive (See Motorstorm Apocalypse for a historical example), especially to our friends in Italy, NYC, etc. Sounds like the “logistical” issues could be also problems with rolling out hard copies of the game in some countries due to businesses being closed. It is what it is and I can’t fault them for it.
Can you say "IRONY" ?
@AhmadSumadi @playstation1995 Agreed. It’s a shame that he got pushed out for “creative differences.” I’ll leave it at that.
@Shepherd_Tallon Thanks for the support (i'm half expecting people to jump down my throat, so it means alot).
I love games and always will. But the gaming community has become toxic. And increasingly so since the rise of places like twitter. People sending death threats etc to devs. Its so embarrassing /pathetic. I'm not sure its a community i want to be part of.
I just dont know what its going to take to get people to understand how serious Covid-19 is. Countries around the world arnt shutting down, closing schools, telling people not to leave their homes for fun. The world will not go back to how it was. The economic aftershock is going to be enormous. And the social impact on peoples livlihoods and jobs is going to hurt. And that's before you consider the poor people who've lost family members and loved ones.
Regarding this site, I've always loved Push Square because i've found it a much more welcoming community. But recently, there's been a huge influx of people that i'd usually expect to see on Eurogamer or IGN. People like Ken. He should have been banned a long time ago.
Its great to see you back on here by the way. I've always rated your posts and you've been missed!
ND spent such a long time on this gig, that the real world got infected in the meantime.
Also, I anticipate the PS5 will get delayed... sad times .
Stay healthy!
I'm perfectly fine with the delay especially considering the circumstances. I don't think they want to do a digital only release that would really hurt the stores that sell physical copies. Shipping something this anticipated and doing a worldwide release may be about impossible in the coming weeks. Plenty of amazing games out there to play still. Cheers everyone stay safe
If this was for the safety of the public and the devs I'd be happy with this.
But it's not, it is because Sony don't want to miss out on any sales and want to make the most money possible on launch so will wait for the virus to settle so they can profit off physical sales.
It's sensible from a business standpoint but I think it's a dick move to the fans.
First you ghost for ages with no PS5 info, then you release a press conference with nonsensical info and terrible communication, now you delay multiple games for profits and ignore fans cries for FF7 Remake to be released early digital.
I understand it all, and health is more important than games. But this is for profits not health.
Luckily I have my copy of FF7 Remake coming as we speak.
A shame, but perfectly understandable.
Thats fine. I'm busy backloggin' anyways. Raging Loop is fantastic as I finish it up and get to Final Fantasy 12 after all these years. Take your time. Relax.....
Just send it to VOD like the other movies lately ᕕ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕗ
It's a shame because it looks and sounds an AMAZING PS4 Exclusive but luckily for me I still have about 8/9 big games to get thru so that should last me until all this dreadful :-/ Virus(hopefully) dissappears.
@DonJorginho you know FF7 Remake is a Square Enix game so Sony has no control over it?
@Rob_230 Cheers, you've already restored my faith.
You're not wrong, some gamers are a pain to have to listen to. But I'd say that it's the internet at large that's toxic. There's certainly a gamer demographic that's as guilty as anyone and probably the most prominent example outside of politics, but that clanish toxicity is all over the web.
Social media. I bloody dread it.
And you're absolutely right. We have much bigger concerns right now. Not just the virus, but the mess and heartbreak it's going to leave behind.
I'm lucky - I work in this industry and my entire team has always been equipped to work from home, and 90% of them have always been allowed to do it as much as they want. It's one of the carrots we use to attract talent. As far as productivity is concerned we won't be affected, and our clients are the same. They're rock solid.
But for so many others, it's going to be very very painful. Another economic mess so soon after the last one.
And then we have people raging because a game is delayed.
But sure look, I guess they gave us the Ignore function here for a reason. Ignorance is bliss, unfortunately. Folk can be disappointed like we all are, but Jesus, perspective.
Genuinely love the folks talking about their backlogs right now.
@sonicmeerkat That'd be a hell of an incentive for getting a load of new PsNOW subscribers...
Oh boy... I don't care about TLoU, but a LOT of people out there will make a storm about this.
Sony has been a mess this 2020
@Ken_Kaniff that's complete nonsense 😂 only games I buy digitally are games on sale. never buy day one releases digitally. I'd rather not overpay like the rest of the clowns 😂
Considering the world is now real life "Last of Us" prequel with a virus instead of zombies, its not a big deal.
@Ken_Kaniff botched the reveal? you're more clueless than I initially thought 😂
@PSbest it's only the 2nd delay. you sound like a kid having a wee tantrum.
It sucks but I have more than enough to play in the meantime.
@makina how so? 😂
@Neolit I really like Ellie so the CE is all payed upfront cant wait.
@playstation1995 i live in maryland but my pops wife's family all live in NYC. My step mother's mom passed on a ventilator last night.
@DonJorginho Where is this nonsense coming from? They want a real good release so every one can play it at the same time big whoop. Dick move what a nonsense.
They can't market a dark game about a post pandemic nightmarish World during an actual global pandemic.
@PSbest Jezus what a crybaby.
I have to tell you something.
...orrrrrrrr maybe with all the crap thrown at them re: crunch, plus criticism from those with a degree in snow animation, they decided to say to their staff 'it's ready when it's ready, don't stress yourselves, we have a plausible reason to delay so take it steady'.
I'm all for a digital sale but why should I pay £65 for the standard copy just because they have delayed it. Yes I also believe that they are concerned about physical sales and not the safety of people's lives here. But if they still released digital then the prices should fall in line with physical and if they did that why can't it be like that all the time. We've always said digital should be cheaper but it never will be unless it's 6 months plus old and on a sale.
@Nyne11Tyme. Damn thats crazy.that disease needs to stop right away.is your mom and father ok.stay safe playa.word up son
I say make it a PS5 day one purchase. And have raytracing in the game, it would look even more amazing.
@Rob_230 Already done so mate.
Your earlier comment sums up what I'm feeling with certain people in this community.
I will be happy when we get to a time where we have no physical copies anymore.
That time will come, there is no way around it, but I have it sooner rather than later.
At the very least, a system would be good where they could send everybody with a physical copy some kind of "download code" to be able to get the game (without marking it as paid in the PSN store).
I'm glad I wasn't looking forward to this. Sucks for the fans, though. I'm actually kind of surprised they're still going ahead with FFVIIR. I assumed every major release this year after Animal Crossing and DOOM would be delayed.
2020 is cancelled, people. Stay home and work on your backlogs.
PS5 will be delayed next
Just waiting for the PS5 version at this point.
Other games will follow suit; this virus has become a severe problem for everyone.
@KnightRider1982 I thought the 2 discs was FF7R but I suppose they both could be or I got it wrong. 100GB would be a large download under the best of circumstances, but with the throttling going on I wouldn't want to wait on that. Not saying it's a good reason on it's own to delay it but coupled w/ everything else the size may have been a factor.
@Th3solution "Me and rjejr called this several days ago."
I was looking for a comment by you before I posted but I didn't see one. This seemed inevitable though the past week or so.
@playstation1995 "everything is good where imat"
Are you still in the city? Nothing is good there. They are literally building a MASH hospital in the middle of Central Park, they had to sail in a Navy hospital ship. There are 100,000 cases and 2,000 deaths so far in NYC. How is anything good?
2 words Animal Crossing oh wait 1 word Doom. This is Sony being pansyarsed because they are in cupcake California now is all. Geez and I'm American it's sad to say but entertainment shouldn't hurt your feelings if it does you need help real help. What we need is to not look on Facebook and see oh look my cousin has and now my friend has it. Sony I need entertainment not more friggin downers in my life you feel me.
I'm in the weird position of wanting to play this game - I have the deluxe edition pre-ordered - but being oddly un-hyped about it. I'm sure it'll be amazing but I also can't get into the same kind of "GIVE IT TO ME NOW!" mindset I have with, say, FFVIIR or BG3. So this delay doesn't actually bother me. I guess it's like Christmas, I know I'll have fun but I don't have that excitement about it I had as a kid.
@Shepherd_Tallon The internet is full of whining moaning gits BUT there are plenty of good folk as well.
It's a game that's been delayed in a year where almost everything cultural has been delayed including big films, huge sporting events and, quite frankly, everyday life itself.
Some people need a sense of perspective.
@tatsumi What a strange comment to make.
@Ralizah How patronising. Let's hope something you're looking forward to isn't cancelled as well.
🙄
@Col_McCafferty why?
The logistical problems are obviously only related to physical copies.
So us people who live in the digital age are being held back now.
If we would already live in an age where everything would be only digital, such a problem wouldn’t even exist.
I am simply looking forward to a digital only future.
@S1ayeR74 Someone speaking the truth here.
Anyone who thinks this is to do with health and safety aren't too bright. Whilst I don't blame naughty dog for their decision this is 100% to do with profits and finance than it is to do with logistics or personal health.
The game can be bought via digital, and for pretty much a large percentage of the population, if they want to play the game they would simply download it. Disc sales, would be cut off, and this would definitely put a dent in the finance, due to some people being indifferent about purchase if they can't get it on disc (for resale etc).
Don't be gullible though, this is a profit based decision.
@RenanKJ Should have went gold months ago? It’s very common for video games to go gold a month prior to release, sometimes even 3 weeks. Judging by the wording and screenshots on this, I wouldn’t be surprised if we were going to get that Gold announcement within the next couple of weeks, along with a new trailer.
@tatsumi FFS.
You sound like one of those PCMR people.
I sometimes buy digital but only when games are on sale. Most big titles I go physical. Usually because they're cheaper, I can lend them to someone else and when done with it I can sell it on albeit not for a great amount.
It's sad news but very understandable in this mad world at the moment. Stay inside, stay healthy and big cheers to the pushsquare-people who still see things in perspective like @rob_230. Well written mate!
@FreakerZ Thanks mate 🙂
Oh man I'm so gutted, I had already booked long weekend off to play this and we are not allowed to cancel atm due to working from home they don't want everyone cancelling leave and then everyone off when we finally get back. I understand why it's been cancelled but this was the one game that I didn't want to be delayed. And to make it worse read it while going through the GoT date safe for now, so even more of shock. Well I nearly got the plat for last of us now just 2 more days to play of MP then polish of a couple of sp trophies, so this will have to do for now. Might start something big after this like AC odessey just to get lost in. Man I'm gutted but it will be worth the wait I'm sure
@rjejr. Im saying he ask me how am i doing and i told him that everything in my place is good and my family.and thats a fact.word up son
While I understand the reason sucks that they are doing it as if there was ever a time people needed quality entertainment it's now with the whole world stopping
Clawing through a blasted out cityscape overgrown with returning nature and mad bandits to claim your collector's edition of The Last Of Us 2
@Col_McCafferty Patronizing because I said I'm glad I'm not looking forward to it? Why? The game's release has been delayed over and over, and it'd be quite disappointing to me if it got indefinitely delayed when we were within months of release.
Considering most stuff this year is likely to be delayed because of the virus, I'm sure it'll hit something I'm excited for as well.
2020 is going to be disappointing for everyone.
It looks like a great game and I'm sure that I'll buy it for sure, buy Naughty Dog has been delaying TLOU 2 for quite a while. Just don't blame the virus, because it wasn't going to be ready anytime soon and was planned originally to be a cross-platform game
@No_Cartridge Dont forget that there is a lot of digital stuff you cant get physical but thats the part they leave out. 😆
@Col_McCafferty I even buy my indie games physical on limited run. 😆
Such a shame it would’ve been nice to play this game during this time in history. But I understand I think Everyone does. To the gaming community be safe, stay home, wash your hands...Peace out!
@Rob_230 I should've been banned? Lol. For having an opinion on a multi million dollar company being silent for four months? Look man I'm a huge Sony fan, but unlike you I will call them out when there wrong. Fans like you are the reason there heads are so big now that they feel they can do no wrong.
I don't even hope we will ever get to play this… COVID will get me first…
Just gonna leave this updated statistics here:
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune – November 2007 (25+ months in development)
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – October 2009 (24+ months in development)
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception – November 2011 (25+ months in development)
The Last of Us – June 2013 (18+ months in development)
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End – May 2016 (35+ months in development)
The Last of Us Part II – May 2020 (In may it's going to be 48+ months in development)
Let's just hope it's gonna be 2,5 times better that the first TLOU…
Yet grocery stores, restaurants ( pickup, delivery , & gas stations are thriving ( lets not act like you can't catch the virus there). So you telling me these gaming retailers can't enact social distancing or curbside pickup with upcoming releases, or sony can't drop these games digitally?..
@playstation1995 Glad to hear you're ok. I never saw what he wrote, just what you replied, so I must have misinterpreted it.
@rjejr how is everything with you and your family and friends.im in queens nyc also.is everyone safe where you at. Stores is closed down also.its crazy.and are you getting the ps5 at launch.word up son
@playstation1995 I'm on Long Island just over the border into Suffolk, and so far we're good, knock on wood, but I still have family and friends in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, so every day I feel the walls closing in a little more.
I don't buy consoles at launch, I buy them when they have a game or 3 I really need to play, usually a couple of hundred bucks cheaper than the launch price. But the sooner they launch, the sooner that day comes, so I am hoping PS5 launches in 2020 so I can buy it in 2021 or 2022.
@WebHead. I agree with you.its probably the worst year ever.word up son
@rjejr. I agree with you my backlog of games is a lot.i dont plan on buying ps5 when the ps5 pro comes.thats?a fact black.word up son
@Xnx_gaming I call BS! The game supposedly has been "done" this is now technically the THIRD push back, absolutely ridiculous.
