You know your entertainment brand is popular when it becomes a question on legendary US quiz show Jeopardy. That’s exactly what happened to The Last of Us last night, as footage of the title’s sequel was shown during a semi-final round focused on the ‘World of Video Games’. Contestant Xiaoke knew the answer, so congratulations to her.

The Last of Us is probably the only game where I actually questioned why some of the violence was necessary.
I actually got tired of the killing and wished there were ways to progress without hurting someone. Even though everything is fake, I still wondered why it was so necessary to slaughter everyone when I was on "their turf".
After all, in many situations, aren't those people survivors too?
It shook my own video game morality.
That's cool and all but...you didn't pay me to use my profile pic.
@GamingFan4Lyf That's kinda the point of the game, to be fair. The sequel is going even harder down this path.
@GamingFan4Lyf It didn’t hit me like you but it would be nice addition of variety to the gameplay vs you must kill everyone.
...filled with zombies?
A bearded Boldhead man with a axe with his son previously setting was Greek methology name that famous video game icon🤔.word up son
@get2sammyb Oh I know it's the point - it's just the first game where "violence isn't always the answer" translated to actual feelings from the player.
@OmegaStriver - yeah, I was really hoping that some of the areas where you were hiding from "enemies" would translate to being able to sneak past them completely without violence.
A video game trivia game show would be a cool watch.
Jeopardy just reminds of the brilliant White Men Can't Jump.
@M1359 I never said it was a bad thing. If anything it was complimentary of Naughty Dogs ability to craft a world that the player actually feels something for.
@Jimmy_G_Buckets This needs to exist.
@GamingFan4Lyf Sadly history has proven time and time again that's what people are like. So the violence is probably more apt in TLOU than most other games. Let's face it, you only need to look at the first few weeks of this virus, when people weren't really sure of facts... selfish stockpiling, violence over toilet paper... that one just beggars belief, countries stealing health supplies from other countries. So here we are, in a situation nowhere near as bad as TLOU, and people still reacted disgustingly until they realised the apocalypse wasn't quite coming. As for turf wars. That's also happening right now. Violence towards people suspected of not coming from an area. Some poor nurse, living in a camper van to be near her hospital is fearing for her life incase someone sets her camper on fire after receiving threats. So perhaps you might want to look at the violence in TLOU from a different perspective.
@Eldritch Well, deep down, our primal instincts are to destroy the weak in order to survive - morality be damned!
Despite our "advanced" brains, humans are still animals.
@GamingFan4Lyf you're not wrong there. Just that some are more animal than human it seems.
“Zombies”?!?!? Wtf?? Was “people overcome by brain-eating fungus” too complex for the audience?
