Capcom recently released Resident Evil Requiem, and it's been so successful that it's seemingly dragging along every other Resi game with it.
That's certainly true in the UK; the latest physical retail charts have come in, and the top 10 includes five Resident Evil games across all platforms.
Requiem is still number one, of course, but going down the list, we have Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Gold Edition in fifth, Resident Evil 3 in seventh, Resident Evil 2 in ninth, and Resident Evil Generation Pack — a Switch 2 compilation — in 10th.

Apart from that last one, all these Resi titles are selling the vast majority of copies on PS5.
They aren't the only Capcom games in the top 10, either; Monster Hunter Wilds is in sixth place as well. It's rare to see any publisher other than Nintendo dominate the UK's retail chart like this.
Here's the latest top 10 in full (physical sales only).
UK Software Chart: Week Ending 7th March 2026
- Resident Evil Requiem
- Pokémon Pokopia
- Mario Kart World
- Pokémon Legends: Z-A
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Gold Edition
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Resident Evil 3
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Resident Evil 2
- Resident Evil Generation Pack

I have been trying to avoid all spoilers for Requiem as I am playing through it, all I have done is grabbed a guide to ensure I don’t miss any raccoons. Game is excellent though!
@S1ayeR74
Be careful out there, I had Residence of Evil spoil a certain character within 5 days of release for me. All over the YouTube thumbnail and description. They weren't even subtle about it.
And if the rumour of the CVX remake getting announced in the summer and RE9 could be getting DLC sometime this year, safe to say there's plenty more RE to come.
I’m guilty of the hype and ended up buying the resi 4 remake seeing as I’ve not played it since it came out on the GameCube!
My question would be why aren't Village or 4R on this list, being more recent?
If it's a case of they are more recent so most people already have them and don't need to 'catch up' , you would have thought that 7 would have been caught up in the wake of Village.
It’s great to see a boost for the series based on the success of the new game.
It does make me wonder, we tend to hear a lot of criticism aimed at Sony for doing too many sequels of their IP, sometimes for games that just have 2 or 3 entries (Spider-Man, Horizon, Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei) but I don’t hear the same criticism of Resident Evil. We are 9 mainline entries into the series (and multiple spinoffs) and the general sentiment seems to be praise for sticking with established roots. When the games have strayed too far from their early source material there’s a clamoring to go back to gameplay from prior games. Haven’t played it yet but apparently Requiem is like a greatest hits version of RE2 and RE4.
I’m not criticizing anything or anyone, just wondering why the series seems immune to the “not another sequel that doesn’t innovate” narrative.
The UK has historically always been a step behind the modern western world, always stuck half a decade in the back clapping for the last song when the next song had already started. All I hear is the game is short, the chick sections drag ass and it's not worth full price. UK just used to paying more for less I guess
Well deserved success! Single player games don’t make enough money though apparently
@Brigurugi the uk is 5 years behind everyone else ? In what regards , you mean in gaming ?
@Brigurugi Welp that's the worst take of the week so far
@Oram77 it is only Monday, give it time!
@Th3solution
I don't quite get it myself either - though a big part of it seems to me at least, that people are very eager to criticise Sony, sometimes disingenuously.
A sequel to me needs some growth, a lot of more of the same, and certainly not an entire change of everything.
GOWR, SM2, and GOY are what I would class as near perfect sequels.
RE has had some stinkers in my opinion - I thoroughly disliked 5, didn't even play 6, and 7 was excellent across it's first two thirds and garbage for the last third.
I don't know whether the fact that they keep changing location/themes/characters helps, but it is very true that Requiem goes back to revisit things from 2(/3)/4, doesn't suffer for it at all, and is an excellent game in my opinion. Im also actually glad they went back to 'zombies/virus' for this one.
I've noticed RE4 kept going out of stock on Amazon, otherwise that may have been up there, even RE1/0 is showing good sales there too.
As a big Resident Evil fan, I couldn't be happier that so many are seemingly jumping into the series now, or catching up with older games
@Th3solution A bit correction, we're in the 10th mainline entries since RE 0 exist 😁
It doesn’t always happen that the top 10 sales lists are all solid, but, man, that top 10 list gives me faith.
Started playing Requiem over the weekend and it’s easily my favourite RE game. I don’t want it to end.
Hope they remake RE1 next, so we have all the mainline entries with the modern controls.
@Brigurugi what on earth are you talking about 🤔
@Brigurugi
Well that's an opinion...
So, from your clearly far more evolved / ahead of the times opinion than myself from the UK, what should they have done differently, and do you think other markets will not show excellent sales for Requiem?
I also think you need to read less opinions on Twitter, sorry X (I'm a bit behind the times here), and give the game a go.
@Brigurugi yet its a huge worldwide hit with almost universal praise 🤔
@Brigurugi BOLD and BRAVE of someone with United States as their location to share that opinion in 2026. Anyway Requiem is fantastic, finished it last night, Def in contention for being the best RE game so far, awesome to see hopefully new players pick up previous entries as well!
Not a surprise that Requiem is selling like hotcakes, but it's amazing how much it's making other Resi games sell.
Finally, some exciting news! Always great to see good games selling well.
@Brigurugi Really not sure Americans should be slagging off other countries right now.
Love to see it. Great news! Keep them coming.
@Brigurugi Who are you listening to if that's "all you hear"?
Do enlighten us, you have the mic...
Push Square has a Cave Troll.
On the one hand great to see versus the usual list, on the other... RE3 remake wasn't great.
I have about 15 Resident Evil games on my PSN account and I'd like more, so please release Outbreak 1 and 2 as well as those on rail shooters on modern hardware please Capcom.
I have even more if I count the copies I also have on Xbox. Such a great series.
@Rich33 there's an online retailer selling 2,3 and 7 gold edition as a bundle for £29.99. We got one
I bought 2,3,7,8 all new for £50 physical the other day in the UK and 9 used for £45. For me this will be the first time playing these and I have no problem being one step behind the western world that clamours for the latest short lived trend. Historically speaking that is. Whatever that means.
Capcom should be a case study for other devs. They seem to be one of the few that are consistently pumping out quality games at a reasonable rate. After resident evil requiem we still have pragmata coming in a few months.
@VeganH and hopefully the new Onimusha not long after!
@VeganH I believe RE engine is one of the biggest reason for their success. Since they used the engine 7-8 years ago, they pumped out games in a pretty consistent basis. The other reason possibly their veteran and new devs worked together perfectly.
@Th3solution A few reasons why I think this is the case:
-RE games, as survival horror titles, are broadly quite short compared to first party Sony titles. This means they either don't outstay their welcome, or leave you wanting more, or both
-RE games do innovate and change themselves up a lot from entry to entry, even in very direct sequels like 7 to RE Village. Even the remakes add crazy stuff like Crimson Heads, stalker Mr. X or knife parry which fundamentally change their source games.
-A focus on replayable, high quality playthroughs, rather than one and done mega campaigns, enables events in cinematic games to be more memorable and distinct. I have literally every combat encounter in RE4 burned into the back of my skull
@AdamantiumPriest me too. Really annoyed me.
