Just sign a contract for Call of Duty to remain multiplatform forever and move on, Microsoft. Seriously, Sony couldn't care less about all the other 1000s of IPs owned by Activision that Xbox players will benefit from, all they're complaining about is COD.
Zero need. Games are still not fully using PS5 potential (not to mention many games are still releasing on last gen). This and the fact that PS5 only recently became easier to find in stores are reason enough not to release a Pro.
A smaller, more efficient version, though, could come any day now.
They should Capcom-ize their business model. Study and understand each game franchise to not lose its core ideas, and explore what you do best. Square Enix has some great IPs, but it seems lost in how to market them. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts sell like crazy for a reason.
Loved it, so nostalgic yet it has more depth than before. RE Engine remains a state-of-art game engine.
My only complaint is that the enemies feel stronger than the original, especially the chainsaw dude (my brother and I used to call him "paper-bag head"). I used a grenade, all my shotgun bullets close to him, multiple handgun shots, tried to aim for his head or legs, and still he didn't die.
I didn't watch it. PlayStation is not good at this stuff at all. But hey, at least we have news on Resident Evil 4!
As for the new Suicide Squad, I didn't look into it and I'm honestly not interested. Suicide Squad itself is enough to keep me away - seriously, they would sell better a random new IP than this.
@LiamCroft I loved the original PS1 games, especially due to exploring Hogwarts, solving "puzzles" with spells and the fun lessons. How would you compare Hogwarts Legacy to those?
@get2sammyb Sony announced recently a giant PS5 and Mjolnir in Brazil as well. Pretty cool! I wish these campaigns reached other cities besides São Paulo, though.
Whatever it is, it's probably not coming on PS5. ND seems to be the slowest PS Studio to develop new games. I get that they are the crown jewel of PS Studios and their games HAVE to be perfect. Still, I wish they would release games more often.
I enjoyed the previous games, so I'll definitely get this one.
I hope they create new gameplay elements though. GoW: Ragnarok is pretty much GoW with a new story (similar to Miles Morales approach, but huge in scope), and I don't really want to pay full price for another sequel that adds nothing new to gameplay.
Not sure about this. The game is brilliant but at the same time the award could go to God of War (2018) since it's exactly the same game with a different story. Well deserved, but also not... I guess they raised the bar too high for themselves.
Playing Ragnarok now, but Odin and Thor acting so far have been great! I didn't get to her yet, so big spoiler alert, haha.
So far, it's an outstanding game. The only issue is that it's outstanding because God of War was outstanding, since it's exactly the same game with a different story.
I expect Sony to reduce the price on PS5 as well. It would be a terrible business decision to offer a high profile Naughty Dog game cheaper on PC than on their own platform.
I don't really get the appeal of NG+ personally. You start with equipment and stats you shouldn't have yet which mess up the plot of many games (where you would acquire something later on), and from a gameplay perspective makes everything easier from the start... Also, building up a character is a core part of RPGs, which you won't do in NG+.
As for ACV though, I also don't think anyone can complain, Ubisoft delivered a lot of post-game content (much better use of limited resources IMO).
I don't see any value in this timed exclusivity thing. If it's first-party and exclusive, fine, but third-party games should be available for everyone to play since day 1. I will still buy it on PlayStation if it's everywhere.
I worry more about first-party games being available on/near release for a better price in other platforms - which would seriously reduce the value of having a PlayStation.
Brilliant DLC, loved every minute of it. It's so great that Capcom identified the Resident Evil formula again since RE7, I could play this series forever and never get tired.
My only criticism is that the ending fight was a bit anti-climatic... It's great to see a new character added to the roster, though, Rose has some cool powers. We'll need more faces now that Chris and Leon are in their 50s.
Of course I care about 60fps, it provides a better experience overall. Does every game need to reach 60fps? Absolutely not - unless it's a game that requires low lag such as fighting games.
I enjoyed Syndicate back then. Sure, it was more of the same and the formula was getting stale, but isolated it's a good game. Too bad Ubisoft doesn't feel that the return of investment justifies a patch.
I like it way more than the celebrated AC IV (which feels kinda boring after a while with all islands being essentially the same).
As usual, Sony is failing to properly communicate with their audience. Although they're reaching new audiences, so maybe that's who they're interested in.
That's a terrible idea. I worked at a company that had tiers of support if customers paid for it. I frequently heard that their support was excellent by enterprise customers (who likely purchased a high tier of support). Well, one day I required support with a product I bought from them, guess what? It took forever to complete the service with weeks of delay and their communication was terrible - learned by experience that "for the customers" motto actually means "for the customers that pay us more".
They need the big publishers for E3 to be successful, and convincing them to prepare big presentations is probably the greatest challenge.
Personally, I hope they figure out how to make it work. It's great to be surprised with a new game coming soon out of nowhere, but given that publishers are barely sharing any news (especially Sony) and that most AAA games continue to take years to develop, it would be nice to pack it all together in its current state for us to see how development is going.
Game is not a very good media for interconnected universes. Think of how hard it was to play the entire Kingdom Hearts series for years, because each game was in a different platform. If you play something that refers a separate game, you might wanna try said game, only to realize it's not available in your platform.
They're probably going to have a 10-minutes-deep-dive state of play for God of War Ragnarok, and another generic one near christmas to boost sales. I don't expect a big showcase this year.
I follow them on Instagram, they recently shared a great video about the team. Astro Bot for PS5 had the same vibes as 3D Mario displaying what can be achieved with the hardware.
I'm looking forward to their next game, hopefully not an exclusive to PSVR2 since I don't plan on buying it.
@somnambulance This demo approach is really working great. I bought Neo and Triangle after trying the demo. I agree, Square is doing a fantastic work lately.
I agree that FF7 Remake's greats outweight its lows, but for me what I would like them to improve the most is the combat. Perhaps not a very popular opinion, but as someone who enjoys both turn-based and action RPGs, I didn't like the combat. It felt like they tried to please everyone without being particular great at anything.
The attacks didn't cause any reaction in the enemies, and parrying/dodging felt off, so they missed the whole act/react principle of action games. As for commands, it took forever to load the bar to trigger commands, so they missed the timely strategy principle of turn-based combats.
Lots of people liked it, though, so I guess they should just refine the system instead of throwing it away.
Probably not unless they release them on Netflix. Game-based shows offer zero reason to subscribe to yet another streaming service. That could be an option in the poll, by the way.
As long as they keep their excellent single player games coming, I'm ok with that! Otherwise, I might end up only at the red side of the force in the next generation.
I know live service games are not necessarily bad - the problem is that we can all play hundreds of different single player games, but won't play more than a few live service games. It doesn't scale well as a business strategy. Not to mention each game MUST have unique gameplay and publishers insist on making copy-and-paste shooters (kudos to Fall Guys on creating something new).
These companies will regret later on. It's one thing when who gives the orders thinks about games, and a completely different thing when who gives the orders thinks about entertainment. Expect studios to close as CEOs choose to create TV Shows over games.
I couldn't care less about trophies. They're often bad asking us to get bored playing in modern games for some instant recognition, imagine for classic ones!
I can understand Sony's decision, but they should push for regional prices on PS Store instead of forcing fixed prices in other stores.
To be fair to them, Nintendo is even worse, they never ever reduce their prices for older games. Either way, buying new games in Brazil is more difficult every year...
I don't know about Microsoft surpassing Sony. I still don't believe their business model is sustainable. Look at how streaming services are starting to reevaluate their agressive prices and insane budgets for new content.
