Limited Run Games doesn't have the greatest reputation among enthusiasts, and its Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector's Edition is a prime example of why.
In short, this particular product includes a large statue of the titular characters stood atop a Dreamcast, and in addition to taking a very long time to manufacture and ship to customers, the statue itself wasn't of a very high quality.
On top of that, not all customers have even received their Collector's Editions yet.
The company has finally taken ownership of the situation in a recently issued statement.

"We owe you a clear apology. Seriously," the statement begins, going on to describe the aforementioned statue as "not up to the standard you deserve, or the standard we set for ourselves", saying it's "not acceptable".

The statement confirms Limited Run Games is now under "new leadership", bringing a "new vision and higher expectations for what an LRG release should mean for the gaming community and for our fans." It pledges to be much more transparent going forward, and to "do better in every future LRG release".
As for the Sonic X Shadow Generations Collector's Edition, Limited Run is "pausing any additional shipments" effective immediately.
It's doing this because it's "going back into a completely new production cycle" for the statue that "matches what fans expect" from such an item.
Those who have already received their Collector's Edition will receive an email within the next week to go over what their options are. "Those options will include a no-cost replacement path once the quality-assured statue is ready. We will also offer a refund option for customers who do not want to wait, with details in that email."
The statement concludes with a link to a production blog, where the team will update fans on the progress of the new Collector's Edition statue. The first update to the blog will be this Friday, 13th March.
It's certainly quite the saga, but it does at least seem as though Limited Run is finally holding itself accountable.

It took them weeks to make this statement. Which is pretty consistent with LRG taking forever to fulfill orders in general, if they ever do.
Limited Run is such a trash company. I've ordered stuff from them years and years ago and it takes forever to get anything and there's such a lack of communication. I even ordered stuff from other sites like iam8bit and Special Reserve Games and they're much better then LRG.
Since they're under a new leardership, maybe they can right the ship but it's an uphill battle.
i gave up ordering directly from lrg when one of my orders sat ready to ship for 3 months while they where busy pushing collectible pogs.
If you think Limited Run Games is bad, check out Rock It Games' Croc Legend of the Gobbos, and First Press Games' Chained Echoes. Now that's on a whole other level.
I saw in their recent email that there is a chance for a refund. I think I’ll take that if possible. I won’t be using this company again.
I tried to order some of their PS4 Castlevania games. It took ages to ship, to the point where I almost forgot about them. I didn't order anything again since.
Kind of respect LRG what they try to do (bringing back old games or physical releases) but if you can't do it to consistent quality standard then what's the point.
What standards are those? I’ve gone for a few LRG limited editions and the quality on all of them was shockingly bad for the asking price. It’s all been total junk. So much so, that even if it’s a franchise I love, I’m not going to buy another collector item from them again and only published base games from other stores.
From my experience (yes it’s just my personal experience and I can’t speak for others) LRG has no quality standards and peddles in expensive trash.
Another year, another LRG flop, how typical.
Feel bad for those collectors, now what will they buy, put on a shelf, and never touch again?
