@Voltan it does, but it's not stuff like FF16 which is console exclusive. Also Returnal is a Sony IP, much like Bloodborne, Uncharted, Gravity Rush etc...Since Sony is very keen on owning IP, I'm not sure what kind of a deal they are doing with Jade's studio or the former Destiny guys, but that's kinda big if they own those IP as well, we'll see. Overall though, nothing as flashy as MS dropping 10B buying a 1000 devs in one swoop, but Sony are obviously working and not blowing smoke with "organic growth" statements.
This is smart marketing, but definitely really cool stuff. Celebrating play is such a dope thing to see. So far removed from the gamer stigma, this made my morning! Yes!!! I am a gamer!!
@Constable_What I feel you, I had a crash right before a boss where I was BUFF! I was definitely going to beat him on that run. But two things 1) Covid-19 has affected the development and the ability for these devs to test bugs. I agree a save system is optimal, it would have been abused, but again they could have put the more difficult runs in the trophy systems. 2) The game is designed around you starting runs from scratch. You basically get shortcuts all over the map, can go through each biome liberally once you progress and as you permanently level up your weapons, you are rocking enemies right at the start. I can go from biome 1-5 now in a matter of 2 hours. So I get why they were so hard-pressed to keep the design language in. It absolutely "opens up" once you get competent at the game and now runs feel super enjoyable and I'm not worried about losing progress at all.
@Ward_ting Biome 3 is all-around challenging and I think the most difficult one. The boss you want to have a weapon that obviously is long-range has "homing" or "deals damage over time" is a good one too. Also, stay close, his attacks are limited the closer you are to him. Use dash and grapple liberally as they have invincibility frames, if you aren't sure you can dodge, jump off and grapple sometimes. You got this!
@Propaperpusher yeah it's tough...but once you break-through you realize why they designed it that way. Biome 3 is a doozie, but if you can beat it, the game opens up to you in a large way '-)
@The_New_Butler Well to me, Demon's Souls is a must-play even if you played the original. The updated graphics, controller effects, are simply worth the price of PS5 along with Astrobot to me. But sure, this is the first officially exclusive game that's a must-play. It's fair, it's challenging, its fast, its skill-based. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is simply some of the design choices could have been better handled. But gameplay wise, it's a 10. Sound wise it's a 10. Art direction is a 10. Just so nagging tech issues kept it from being perfect, something that a sequel could easily rectify. It's the first time since Botw and GoW that I've been stuck to my TV and controller and just had to beat the game. I was like 16 again on summer vacation lol. Great game! I still have to beat it once more to get the true ending and of course clear these trophies out.
A nice reminder of why I need to stay away from forum/enthusiast talk and just play and enjoy games. I'm so burnt out on the Resetera/Kotaku/Journalism (if you can call it that) talk of this industry. we're literally obsessed with the minutiae of the gaming world and I can't understand how this adds any sort of value to my life. PushSquare, plz don't turn into the next place I have to leave. One week "we hate Sony" the next their "our saviors". Smh...
@Orpheus79V This it work of the old guard, Layden is gone now, so no more risky stuff. Just 3rd person sad dad games.
-_-
When will we stop listening to the internet. I remember some insider on twitter saying Halo Infinite was definitely going to "win" E3 if it was shown. Ppl don't know squat and true journalism is dying.
@Hopewell @B_Lindz not trying to rub it in at all but I really disagree with the previous comment of not missing anything. PS5's Astrobot is the best example of how the Dualsense is actually innovative and it's a great 4-6 hours of gameplay. Demon's Souls is one of the better Soul experiences now at 60fps and is graphically superior to most software out. Playing last gen titles like God of War, GoT, Days Gone, Control, etc...at 60fps are much better experiences than PS4 counterparts and Returnal + Ratchet are on the way. Dualsense and SSD are really next-gen and it's hard to even play my PS4 now. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, not knocking anyone, but I certainly think it's worth the price ($500/$400) mind you not scalpers price. The next-gen experiences are trickling in and it's one of the better PS launches Sony has ever delivered IMHO. Web singling in MM was also really fun on Dualsense.
@mariomaster96 Nintendo software moves Nintendo's hardware though. PS has like 60% more titles in general from third party, it's different markets and a different strategy that's paying off for both of them.
Loved the first a lot more than the second, but would love to see a conclusion to the series. This time maybe a little bit more fan service and back-story to Joel would be appreciated.
I think GTA online has largely replaced Home...if Sony were to bring it back, they would have to make a ton of fun gameplay mechanics for it to be worthwhile.
Day one...Always knew the gameplay would be good, the glowing previews have sold me even more. I think it'll review 87-90 and be another must-play. Waiting for Hades to be ported to PS5 so it's nice to have our own Rouge-lite exclusive to jump into.
@The_New_Butler I think it's important to have both honestly. I have rare trophies that hardly anyone has (SFV) and some that are just being a completionist in a game (HZD). both are equally valid ways of adding value to a game.
@Axelay71 Demons Souls is the exact opposite of "stupid" difficulty. Uncharted on brutal difficulty is "stupid" as in brain-dead AI with homing bullets, sponge enemies, while the player has extremely low health. Demon's Souls is one of the easier Souls games to get into and rewards patient, methodical play. The reason the games are so popular is that they AREN'T cheap but rewarding with a balanced challenge. There's plenty of online help to Souls games as well.
Returnal will be more like Souls games in that regard, as Housemarquee other titles are challenging. But again, if Souls is too much for you, I would recommend a guide or something.
@get2sammyb This is pretty strange coming from someone connected to the industry. Games are super expensive to make, expectations keep rising every year/gen, and you don't understand why Sony wants to charge $70 for AAA products? Games are not movies, you don't have to grab every 9/10 release. I would go on a limb and say most folks posting and enthusiasts can certainly afford that.
@nessisonett When dealing with math, it's best to not use estimations like "large number" because there's no telling what that means. Logically speaking though, scalpers are not sitting on PS5 stock, they are selling them to people that want PS5's. So it really doesn't matter that a "large number" is going to scalpers because they are ending up in people's houses, just at inflated prices. The only reason scalpers exist is because Sony still can't keep up with demand.
@RubyCarbuncle Yeah, maybe the trial isn't available for me since I"ve played before. Had a lvl 22 or 30 character or so. I heard the story was really good so wanted to check it out.
Honestly, Sony is one of my favorite companies (in general) so I'm pretty biased. But this may be a good thing for Sony. What's the one thing that lights a fire under a company having a lot of success (besides obviously losing profit)? Bad PR. Even if the PR is exaggerated, it might be a great opportunity for Sony's division-heads to prove not only is our portfolio diverse, but we fund a lot of variety across various budgets. Bring on the games though. I'm not bothered enough by any of these gaming soap opera stories anymore, I just want to play really amazing experiences, life is too short. The only soap opera I watch now is basketball/Football. Don't have room for the Sony vs. MS vs. Nintendo industry gossip anymore.
I actually play video-games, and Sony has been making good stuff. Honestly, I'm more annoyed at MS's "Buy-up the industry" approach because it has monopolistic connotations from my limited POV. But at the end of the day, if Xbox has some exclusives amazing stuff to play, I'll just buy one lol...
I'm ready for this to come to PS5 with enhancements. Would really really really really love a create mode where my daughter and I can just go around crafting like Minecraft.
@Loftimus ahh my bad...I forget a lot of people are coming from the European continent and not talking about a dollar increase. For U.S $10 increase wasn't a big deal, but that's a big hike for others.
@__jamiie well that's dumb logic because MS is literally one of the richest companies on the planet lol. 10 years from now point taken, but this acquisition just happened so people are rightfully (IMO) requesting some of their favorite franchises not change direction. MS stance is not clear either as it's still pretty much case-by-case basis and "some games will be exclusive some will not". while everything is still up in the air you're gonna have a lot of people voice what they want to happen.
@__jamiie Bethesda stuff is associated with being 3rd party and have massive amounts of PS fans. You know why it's different with this acquisition, no PS only players are asking for Halo or Gears to be ported lol... Use common sense, people just want to play where they've always been playing.
Back on topic, I'm glad I waiting to play this on PS5, heard it's really good.
Really don't get so many comments about price...if this reviews well, I'm getting it day one. Looks fresh, interesting, and just different. Botw still cost like $55 new. lol...this is what Sony is aiming for, their first-party standards are higher, so they want to value it appropriately. For the amount of hours you get out of some games, (1000 hrs with MP) I'm more than willing to pay $70 for a quality game on day one.
@djlard it's why I couldn't care less about the acquisition besides Starfield sounding awesome on paper or the idea of a full-blown Elders Scrolls sequel. I really wish a studio like ND would tackle the genre as story, solid mechanics, pacing, and lore just seem to belong to different genres today. No one is doing the grand scale epic that incorpates it all.
Every new tidbit is hitting the right notes. My biggest issue was resolution, and that's yet to be talked about. Having already addressed the outdated move controllers and the cumbersome setup of PSVR though, I think Sony is well aware of the shortcomings. This will be the official PSVR launch IMHO, the first was pretty much early access.
That's a pretty dope take on the Souls online trend. This is shaping up to be a special game, no wonder Sony got fully behind this, looking like Housemarquee's best game is coming.
Hmmm...I don't....especially if I get platinum in a game, I'm usually done with it. This is why I hate when DLC comes out after I'm done investing in the title.
If we're counting things like Smash Brothers or Street Fighter, Mario Kart etc...that's the only thing I replay, gameplay-focused titles.
@GameCollector84 This is an interesting take, I honestly hope you are wrong, because that's not where I want the industry to go. No one can compete with MS in cash reserves, so if the company is willing to sell, they will always win out.
@get2sammyb This is a huge ask tbh...forum posters are the vocal minority and the majority of the user base isn't interested in what Phil Spencer says on Twitter. To ask for Sony to adopt a similar style of PR is kinda ridiculous as that's simply corporate culture and there's no definitive way to say one is stronger over the other. Besides, how many times has Phil said something and it ended up being bad PR for them.
Also, there is no competing with what MS did, they overpaid a ton to secure Zenimax and Sony will not make similar moves. Expect them to buy the usual suspects like Bluepoint or Housemarquee because that's what makes financial sense. Also, who has the most studios is not synonymous with who has the best exclusives. How many genres does Nintendo have the highest-rated and selling games in? They do not have more studios than Sony let alone the new MS.
Lastly, this is reactionary to some extent. No "game has been changed" until there's a bunch of high-quality exclusive content you can only get on Xbox or PC. That's not here yet, and we are assuming the best stuff to come from Bethesda will be completely exclusive or will be the new hot things in the industry. That's not how hits work, and MS, besides buyouts have not really struck a chord with anything besides Forza in a decade. Making quality games that everyone wants is hard, buying a bunch of studios does not guarantee that.
What's next for Playstation is Returnal and Ratchet and Clank. Then FF16...They will probably go after SE/Capcom more aggressively with potential Zenimax games being taken away from the platform. They are reacting I'm sure, but we're not going to hear about it because Sony doesn't play video-game industry soap opera lol. It's about the games, and I already have a backlog on my PS5. If Xbox has a bunch of cool stuff in 2-3 years, I'll just buy one of those then. The drama around where to play good games is honestly getting tired.
@Jaz007 eh, I really wouldn't worry about it too much. if PS5 is where ppl want to play, MS will let these devs support the most popular platform. Obviously, MS will fund some exclusives, but I really don't think they will take away games that are used to being on everything. Gamepass day one and marketing rights will suffice for most of these deals. Just look how quickly MS changed the Xbox live price back. If people complain, they will react, they do seem to be about pleasing the consumer, even if there are long-term goals of market domination. Right now though, Xbox just seems to want subs, and they are succeeding without directly competing with Sony/Nintendo's strategy for now, which fully rely on hardware sold. MS is hardware too, but such a different perspective when you factor in PC.
TLOU2 with some story DLC (What happened with Joel and Ester) PS5 version. Factions debut and the announcement of a new IP if it's ready to be shown will make me happy ND. I want Part 3, but new IP first, I'm just getting over the sadness of part 2.
NagoRiyuki is the most fun I've had in a fighting game since SF3! He's so unique and fun and undoubtedly my main. I agree, the netcode felt eerily similar to offline play, and honestly, It's just something with the animations and the speed of the game, but it just felt "clean" for lack of a better word. When you lose, it felt like your opponent outsmarted you, not some combo or input you fumbled. There's solid defense options from the get go and we aren't waiting until season 5 to get some basic defense so the game isn't all about 50/50 set plays. I'm super excited! It genuinely feels amazing.
@Porco That's all fine but to be frank, you guys can discuss your fears in a more healthy way than basically saying I don't want PC players to ever have these games. People who upgrade graphics cards and game on $2000 PC's are a completely different market than console gamers so your entire premise of it being devalued is subjective not a "fact". Sony has the data and is more informed than us on how their brand is being affected by these decisions. It's nonsense, mean spirited and a projection of fanboyism, if you can't see that I don't really care to try and convince you.
This won't be addressed until PS launches a portable system in Japan (They won't) or release PSnow on mobile devices for the market over there. Either way, they want a portable device.
I truly don't get this "devaluing" the brand take from users, fanboys, all of you. Some of ya'll swear you're holding on to millions of shares of Sony stock or something. How about let the executives worry about the brand and you play where you want to play. This is coming from a straight up Sony guy. My TV's are Sony, I've had every Playstation console released in the US. My headphones, speakers, and even batteries are Sony lol. I 95% game on PS consoles, and I don't have ANY problem whatsoever with them supporting the PC community. Honestly, what is wrong with some of you?
And shame on the writer here for even implying something is valid about "not liking this". It's more people getting to experience great games, what reason is there not to like it besides tribalism nonsense? This behavior should not be condoned at all.

Re: Bethesda Buyout Hasn't Disrupted Deathloop's PS5 Development
Re: Bloodborne PS5 Version Spotted on PlayStation Store, But It's Probably a Bug
I would legit buy it again (Not a full price) Just to play this game in a similar performance as DeS on PS5.
Re: Naughty Dog Urges Fans to Remain Patient, Has 'Several Cool Things' on the Way
TLOU2 with some story DLC (What happened with Joel and Ester) PS5 version. Factions debut and the announcement of a new IP if it's ready to be shown will make me happy ND. I want Part 3, but new IP first, I'm just getting over the sadness of part 2.
Re: Hands On: Guilty Gear Strive Is Shaping Up to Be the Next Great Fighting Game
@RaZieLDaNtE Add me bro, I'm definitely getting this day one and want some fighting game fans to spar with. PSN - Omnicloud
Re: Hands On: Guilty Gear Strive Is Shaping Up to Be the Next Great Fighting Game
Re: Days Gone Is Coming to PC
@Porco That's all fine but to be frank, you guys can discuss your fears in a more healthy way than basically saying I don't want PC players to ever have these games. People who upgrade graphics cards and game on $2000 PC's are a completely different market than console gamers so your entire premise of it being devalued is subjective not a "fact". Sony has the data and is more informed than us on how their brand is being affected by these decisions. It's nonsense, mean spirited and a projection of fanboyism, if you can't see that I don't really care to try and convince you.
Re: PlayStation Boss Reiterates Strong Ties with Japanese Developers
This won't be addressed until PS launches a portable system in Japan (They won't) or release PSnow on mobile devices for the market over there. Either way, they want a portable device.
Re: Days Gone Is Coming to PC
