Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart releases in roughly two months and… Well, fans are beginning to worry. It’s been a long time since we last got a look at the mascot platformer, and some are beginning to speculate that a delay may be on the cards. Not true, according to Insomniac Games – all is well behind-the-scenes, and there are “plans in place” for an update soon.
The developer, as it tends to do, was responding to some concerns in its Twitter mentions: “We know you're antsy for more news and there are plans in place right now for that. You'll be pleased with what we have to share, just hang tight.”
While it hasn’t historically been PlayStation’s strategy to wait so long, it has generally switched to much shorter hype cycles for its first-party releases of late; Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Demon’s Souls, and even Destruction AllStars all had minuscule marketing schedules compared to past franchises. Whether it’s a change in strategy or a consequence of coronavirus is unclear.
Either way, looks like we’ll be learning a lot more about Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart soon. Alright, it’s not exactly Earth-shattering news – but it should help to quell some concerns!

It’s cancelled. Insomniac will be reorganized as a naughty dog support studio. They’ll be helping with a full blown ps5 remake of the last of us 2.
Had the pleasure of meeting Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart at a charity do once. It was surprisingly down to earth, and VERY funny.
Im completely fine with games being pushed later in a development cycle. I just wished they'd hold fir announcing them now. I miss the days of reading about a game and then discovering it was out a month later.

Been playing Ratchet & Clank (1st time ever playing a R&C game) that Sony gave out - it's a fun game. So glad I can enjoy it in 60fps on PS5.
Will definitely keep and eye on this one.

I’d expect we will see it pushed more once Returnal is released.
Returnal first...then Ratchet PR will come.
Why are people so impatient? Its almost like Sony have to plan out their comms timeline given they have another exclusive in Returnal being released in 2 weeks. And have advertising responsibilities towards Resident Evil Village... and originally would have had another exclusive in Deathloop to promote.
Ratchet news can wait. And what more do people seriously want to know. Its been shown loads already and Sony have even given away Ratchet and Clank 2016 away so many times now, which can in itself effectively be considered a demo of what the series is about if you arn't sure whether you would like it or not.
In other news, I'm going for a haircut then I'm off to the pub.
I really wouldn't be surprised if this got delayed. I know they're assuring the June 11 date, but nothing is certain after the pandemic.
I mean Ratchet and Clank is going to get a State of Play in May probably so I don't see why people are worried. Sony is going to have trailers for this game everywhere. With Ratchet and the New Lombax who looks awesome. This game is going to perfect.
Insomniac bought by Microsoft, Ratchet & Clank cancelled for PS5, coming to Xbox Gamepass day one instead.
In other news, Sony to close the PS4 section of the Playstation store and delete any patches available for any games on the platform.
Also, remake of The Last of Us 2 in the works, every other Dev team to be dissolved and merged into Naughty Dog to make continuous Uncharted sequels.

Why are people here talking about it being delayed? it's not going to be delayed the developer already made that very clear. The news they're likely going to give is more info about the game, nothing to do with it being delayed.
There’s some good news. If any game can get me excited to get a PS5 right now it’s this one
I'll be waiting on this aswell. I platinumed the ps4 game and really enjoyed it, but (again) no game is worth £70! I wouldn't even pay that if mario kart came to playstation with free masterchief/warthog dlc.
It really has put a downer on what should be a gloriously exciting time.

There’s literally Resident Evil and Returnal as the only high brow PS5 games on the way and given the knock backs Sony’s had of late the silence on Ratchet and Clank is glaring. Might not be a long delay but it’s coming.

After Returnal releases, I’m expecting RnC to be delayed to Sept-Oct and then HFW to March 2022.

@itsfoz No just people that spout stuff out without any sources to back up their claims just getting on my nerves. They already made a statement saying a delay isn't happening so when you post comments like that you're spreading misinformation.
@itsfoz I'm not saying this out of annoyance at the idea that Ratchet and Clank is delayed, but I don't think high brow means what you think it means. I think you mean high profile? Anyway, it does seem a bit odd how long it's not been part of the news cycle.
Hopefully just a release date and price. No news about expansions, DLC, pre order bonuses, or any other such rubbish please!
Beyond excited for this game! Pre-ordered it the day the release date was announced. This and Resident Evil made me feel that sense of urgency to get PS5.
Maaaaaaan I can't wait to see more of this. Most exciting game for me this year (I'm not counting God Of War for obvious reasons).

it's alright for Insomniac to delay the game. We don't want another CP2077 scenario. its still hard to get a PS5 these days anyway.
@rjejr Given it is following on from into the nexus, a remake of that game packaged in with rift apart would be amazing, given many wont have experienced that one

PS5 can't have those big white sides for nothing, eventually they're going to be billboards. Since PS5 production is going so slowly I'd settle for some skins, preferably pre-skinned so I don't have to mess w/ it.

Cannot wait for one of my favorite franchises to make its return.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is also being touted as the first game that really leverages that PS5 SSD with the level transitions, so I can’t wait to see what Insomniac have created this time.
There’s alot of momentum with the studio having released two Spiderman games since and I expect them to build off that and make a really high-level Ratchet & Clank entry. Day one!
Not got a PS5, but I'll keep an eye on it. It will most likely be one of the first games I buy.

Crunch happens when release dates are announced too early and I think Sony is taking that seriously because they've lost a lot of talent due to crunch.
That said, they still delayed Returnal. But only by a month.
its ratchet and clank , we all know what to expect from these games by now and for years. definitely shouldn't be worth $70 , more like $50 honestly , its a platformer . and since its delayed , thats no que of a good omen ; if you look at last gen , the reception of most delayed games were bad.
I'll wait for inevitable later PS4 release....lol.
For some reason this series completely passed me by and I decided to rectify that before Rift Apart releases and good god I was missing out almost done now just got Into The Nexus to go and i'm all caught up on the story ^__^

I do agree with Rob_230 though, would be sweet if they also remade Into the Nexus at the very least.
@KidBoruto If they've only played 1 game that was given away free I'd hardly call them fans, and I doubt they would be looking to pay $70 day 1, or even in the market for a PS5.
R&C celebrates it's 20 year anniversary next year, it deserves a console makeover.

It's good to see the PS5 finally getting an exclusive that's almost worth the entry fee. Clank looks a lot shinier so I assume it's utilising the ray tracing, plus perhaps the SSD to pull data for the portals? At the end of the day, it looks like a Ratchet & Clank game - not much more to be said?

All that aside, I DO agree they should honor the franchise by making a custom R&C PS5 that would be bundled with Rift Apart.
