Re: Hands On: Returnal's New Co-Op and Endless Modes Reinvigorate a PS5 Great

Omnistalgic

@Bri-Die I almost tempted to not play it because I really don't like going back to games once I get the platinum. Returnal is one of the RARE games that I not only continued to play after doing everything, but will re-download it now with the update. I do think it would've scored higher with these updates because a big complaint from press were they couldn't save and its too hard to complete without dying.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Sifu?

Omnistalgic

Got the Plat loved the game...Felt they could've went further with the cheesy dialog as an homage to old black'n'white Kung-fu flicks. It was kinda low-key perfect though. Very pick up and play, unlike the slow start to Horizon FW. I can appreciate a game that's a simple but enjoyable as SIFU in light of games today aiming for you to spend 100 hours in the world. DLC for SIFU would be day one.

Re: Poll: Does Sony Need to Take Action After Microsoft's Activision Buyout?

Omnistalgic

@get2sammyb yup, I would vote for "keep doing what they are doing" but since MS is keen to grab even important franchises (whether they place nice with COD or not) I would say Sony could use a boost to their WWS. I would make sure SE/Capcom cannot get bought up, and see if I can purchase them myself. But yeah other than that, they are betting on WWS and PSVR2, and it's very different from MS and Nintendo, which should help differ Playstation from the other two.

We should get some great experiences this gen no doubt about it...But I think with MS spending this much they should move a little faster, mostly in prep for next gen and filling any genre gaps that's possible.

Re: Xbox Boss Expresses Desire to 'Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation' After Activision Buyout Is Complete

Omnistalgic

@GADG3Tx87 fanboys are the worse part of this yeah, I really wish MS/Sony worked out a deal, it ruins the online experience of gaming, and I kinda want to be in it because my IRL friends aren't as passionate about gaming as I am. How entitled can you be? MS has bought with Bethesda/Activision like what 20-30 IP? Let's just say that's 3 AAA a year once all exclusivity in enacted? How are they talking about negotiation and pissed off at Spider-man and Wolverine? lol...with that type of mindset in the U.S, this deal will get passed without anyone batting an eye.

Re: Microsoft Bigwig 'Trusts' PlayStation Not to Damage Gaming Industry, Cautions Against Tech Giants

Omnistalgic

@get2sammyb hopefully it works out...I was really pissed about this, but it just goes to show there's no certainty in capitalism. Sony has to pivot and do something creative and unique, they can't rely on 3rd party anymore. I'm sure they are up to the challenge. We may get a ND/SSM RPG and the revival of a proper AAA Socom out of this. Should be a good time for gamers, and if devs are happy with MS money into the industry, that's a good thing.

Re: Xbox Boss 'Trusts' PlayStation Not to Damage Gaming Industry, Cautions Against Tech Giants

Omnistalgic

@get2sammyb true, but Nintendo were not fairly treating 3rd party. It was much easier for Sony to come in and play hero. They became pretty popular with 3rd parties overnight including SEGA. I guess you could argue devs and companies like the billions of dollars MS is putting into the industry and aren't overly concerned since there's just two major consoles. It does feel more like a takeover than anything Sony ever did though, but perhaps its just because the industry is bigger.

Re: Poll: Would You Still Buy PlayStation Consoles Without Activision Blizzard Games?

Omnistalgic

@Royalblues gamers went to PS4 because the hardware was better. The marketing was better, the price was better. The exclusives that were made in-house were better along with the 3rd party. This is one company who has a monopoly in one industry trying to do the same to another. It is not real competition. As the xbox division itself would not be able to make such crazy purchases. Sony won back mindshare by making the better product. From most reviews they did it again with PS5, and MS is just buying the most popular IP to compete.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

Omnistalgic

I hope Socom becomes a thing again and Sony answers all these future gaps like say a open world RPG from ND to combat Elder Scrolls. I hope this makes Playstation division better and all that jazz...But man!! SCREW MS using Windows riches to bulldoze another industry. Every way you want to look at this, this does not FEEL right! Please gaming media, I understand U.S is gaming's home in journalism but this stinks!! If MS doesn't have Minecraft like deals in front of all these IP's and just offer some exclusive window this is simply taking away experiences from millions. This was not a company struggling, they needed management shakeup not funding. This is MS failing with their own WWS and buying relevance. It should not be celebrated and it should not be applauded.

Re: Reaction: PlayStation Showcase 2021 Was Good, But Not Good Enough

Omnistalgic

@CWill97 Yeah, I think it dragged a little, certainly would have been better with Stray or saving the horizon debut for this showcase, but then Pushsquare would say Sony is silent for too long. It's YEAR ONE of the PS5. Stop being harsh on the devs an expect practically each one of WWS to give you a high quality virtual slice before they are ready. GT7/GOWR/Horizon were clearly supposed to be one year debuts for PS5, which is why they are cross gen. To expect the same level of graphical jump is kinda absurd. Disappointed in you guys take, a more level-headed score of the conference is it was "great" but we want E3 2016 amazing". Not every year is going to be that, and I'm sure you guys who have actual contact with devs knows that.

Re: Jim Ryan Says Players Only Remember the Best Games

Omnistalgic

@RBMango it says in the title this is a translation. They are just aiming for high quality releases and want quality to be associated with the PS studios brand. Nothing about critic reception or any of that. Ratchet and Clank is not even one of Sony's highest rated games.

Re: Demon's Souls Documentary Is an Hour Long Deep Dive into PS5 Remake

Omnistalgic

@OmegaStriver Souls games don't sell like Assasin's Creed or COD, but they do sell very well. BC does not provide BB at a higher frame-rate and resolution and doesn't rival want Bluepoint has done with the original game. At the very least they could patch it.

Also, using small communities like us to gauge interest is too small a sample size. If you really want to know how it would sell look at Director's cut of Death Stranding and GoT coming up. It may be pointless for you, but I would best on a remastered BB selling very well, scoring even higher on metacritic, making back it's money for the devs and overall being the complete opposite of "waste of resources". You may not be interested in it, and that's fine.

Re: Demon's Souls Documentary Is an Hour Long Deep Dive into PS5 Remake

Omnistalgic

@OmegaStriver I would much rather have Bloodborne 2 of course, but this is an easier way to get a new Souls game. It certainly wouldn't be a waste of time either a BB remaster would easily be a million+ seller. I never played the DLC for example, BB was early in the gen so might've been skipped by a lot of people, and it's really well done. Remasters serve a market.

Re: Demon's Souls Documentary Is an Hour Long Deep Dive into PS5 Remake

Omnistalgic

@OmegaStriver Its the first Souls game? The genre has absolutely changed the industry and inspired devs around the world. You don't know why the first one which was stuck on ancient hardware and different run well would garner interest?

Really hope BP is doing Bloodborne next. It's not stuck on bad hardware, but it's another classic that should be played at 60fps in 4k.

Re: Yes, NBA Legend LeBron James Really Is Coming to Fortnite

Omnistalgic

@ScottyG No one's life under a Microscope is awesome. Do you want to cherry-pick the bad things Jordan has been reported doing? There's plenty... The MAGA hat in Brady's locker and his 'hush/hush" demeanor on political issues? Lebron has also built schools, actively participates in all of his children lives, (unlike MJ) funded scholarships, rebuilt neighborhoods in Cleveland. No one is perfect, and I'm sure each and every one of us have embarrassing moments. And again, this same thing was done to MJ when he was playing, he was certainly more universally love, but still had a lot of hatred that had nothing to do with basketball.

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's Latest State of Play Livestream?

Omnistalgic

It basically has to be "Future of Play" levels showcase or forums will say it sucked. but it was a solid show for just some upcoming games that look interesting. Death Loop actually didn't feel weird at all, it's a very unique shooter and perfectly good marketing fit for what Sony like to do. FIST, SIFU, and the VR game all looked great, but I'm waiting on PSVR2 honestly.

The big World Wide Studio showcase is coming though guys...be patient lol

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Less Excited for Deathloop on PS5 Than I Should Be

Omnistalgic

@The_New_Butler fair enough, but anti-playstation and anti-Nintendo when they make up the majority of the console space is lame to me. I don't have any issues with getting all the consoles myself, but this comes across as forcing your way into the industry instead of earning it. Without bethesda MS actual first party lineup has been terrible with Halo being delayed an entire year. I just don't have respect for it, and yeah, Sony has done same thing with situations like SFV and current FF16, it all sucks, but scale does matter. For the record, I'm not particularly bothered by this because I don't care for any Bethesda games, I just don't like the idea of the richest company in the world buying publishers up.

Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Less Excited for Deathloop on PS5 Than I Should Be

Omnistalgic

@The_New_Butler whatever the hell that means I'm not moving any goals it's how I'm judging what MS did. Buying a publisher and taking games away from the majority of the console gaming market is not pro-consumer. No studio was struggling, no one was running out of funds like Ninja Theory or Housemarquee, MS just bought them to boost Xbox and take away titles from the gigantic PS userbase. its bad business is my point for everyone that doesn't own your platform, and it's the very definition of anti-consumer. They are taking away titles from the actual majority of where people play games on consoles.

Re: Ubisoft Planning for Assassin's Creed Infinity, Online Platform in 2024

Omnistalgic

The problem with MMO's IMO is the combat. I've just yet to play something like Monster Hunter when the entire game is rendered online. Once gameplay mechanics are as seamless as they are offline, I wouldn't care to interact with online worlds, especially if you can be as involved with the community as you want, but so far...most MMO combat is weaksauce. FF14 is fun, but it's nothing like the SP combat engines.

Re: Reaction: It's Time to Accept We Can't Predict PlayStation Anymore

Omnistalgic

@vict0RGM You are just checking for news too often. All those moves will be revealed in time what they mean for the actual consumer. Social media has made us check forums and gaming sites like Twitter and Facebook. But it's not a soap opera and there is sometimes NOTHING happening. It's much better on the devs as well that don't have to get ready every E3 or every Gamescon and put something together to wow people when the resources could be better utilized.

Re: Random: Ratchet & Clank Recreation in Dreams Is Yet More Proof of Its Power

Omnistalgic

@AK4tywill couldn't agree more. Dreams has loads of potential and MM is small so the progress is slow. Multiplayer and PC release to me are the real test for the game to see if it can become popular. I would also make an easy "create" mode that pretty much copies the Minecraft formula and has you hunting for materials and creating things with the dreams aesthetics.

Re: Returnal Update 1.4.1 Available on PS5 Today, Here Are the Patch Notes

Omnistalgic

@theheadofabroom to be fair to the game's design, by the time you are familiar with the gameplay, you run through the entire thing in 2-3 hours. I get the hesitation, but if you're interested in the game, the no save feature is not a real issue. Its designed to be an Arcade experience. You have a new weapon, a new layout, new perks etc...every run. You level up through weapons, items, and knowledge of the world/enemies. Perhaps if there were more levels a save feature would be warranted, but it's really just 3 worlds to master, then you're at the midway point which is an automatic "save".
