Disappointment as PS2 All-Timer SoulCalibur 3 Launches on PS5, PS4 without Trophies

Honestly, just having this title more readily available is an achievement - not everything has to have pointless trophies added retrospectively. The glory and bragging rights come down to getting a ring-out with Hwang ^_^

Stop making trophies your primarily reason to play games (this is coming from someone who has 139 platinums)

@Oram77 I swear that some people treat trophies as if it is their heroin fix. But that is our instant gratification culture in a nutshell.

Honestly, it’s kinda the bare minimum that a developer should do. Up until now, Capcom and Namco Bandai have been the worst offenders for sure.

Edit: Going by the above comments, it looks like I have a serious problem!! 😂😂 Although I am a Platinum hunter with almost 500 spread across 2 accounts, I definitely don’t need to have trophies or Platinums to play games. For the topic point, I already own Soul Calibur 3 on PlayStation 2, and I was actually playing it a few weeks ago, but if there were trophies added to these releases, I definitely would pay the money to add them to my account. It’s just my collecting mentality at the end of the day! I better add that I have zero issues with people who have no interest in trophies or the ilk, but there are more than enough people that do that would like to see Trophies added to these releases.

I prefer online match with rollback netcode over trophies. Sadly there's none.

I guess SNK and Capcom are the only devs who really cares to add online match + rollback for their old fighting games.

RetroAchievements it is. PCSX2 is leaps and bounds ahead of Sony’s emulator anyway.

the main thing i’ve noticed about these classic releases trophy list is that trophy hunters are the only people playing these games after the majority of players drop them after getting their 5 minutes of nostalgia.

I've been waiting impatiently for this one, honestly don't care about trophies.

I'm gonna come in with a different point of view as everyone so far seems to "not care about trophies". I can tell you a large part of the player base do care.

For me, there's no point playing a game that doesn't have a trophy or achievement system because I like to track what I've completed, what I haven't and the progress I've made. It's why I haven't got a Switch. It makes me complete games I would have previously given up on and makes me explore parts of the game the developers put effort into that never would have been found by me naturally. There are so many positives to having the system in place.

I'm also not going to rag on the crowd that don't care for them, if you just want to enjoy games then more power to you I think that's great. But don't look down on people that do like trophies and the experience that it brings.

Not to mention the fact that it got rid of the "completed it mate" gang because no mate, no you haven't, I can see from your profile you haven't. So there...

@TDHorizon I would play them, get bored of them and rarely complete them. I like having something to aim for and trophies give me that.

This game is amazing. I had only played Soul Blade in the PS1 at the time, and always enjoyed it. When I read about SC III, I ran to a local game store and got a copy. Played it a looooot!! One of the best fighting games ever made. I hope they bring the trophies, I'm tempted to replay it.

@elvisfan1 I enjoy the trophy system because it gives a more tangible way to track our progress and achievements in the games. Also, we can come back and always look again to our collection, appreciate the effort and reminisce about the moments. And it is a good way to see how other players fare in games, their story with the medium and so on.

I can't deny the dopamine either, feels good to see the pop up when we get one of them haha I'm not a obsessive trophy hunter, I get the platinum when I can, if not, I move on. But yes, for all I said above, I preffer when games bring trophy support.

I Couldn't care less about trophies but I feel for the people that like them. It's not a complex addition and it makes the product more appealing.

Unlike seemingly everybody else here, I do care about trophies. It's not that I outright wont play a game without trophies, it's more a case of there are always so many other games to play that it's easy to ignore the ones that don't have them.

I treat it as an easy way of reducing choice when deciding what to play next. I also think if they can't be arsed to include trophies or they have broken trophies that they refuse to fix, it suggests to me the Devs aren't that bothered about their own game making it easy to dismiss.

The horror! Video game “fans” really will complain about anything these days.
