As is tradition, we're wrapping up our Game of the Year coverage by looking towards the future.
Late last year, we asked Push Square readers to vote for their most anticipated PS5 games of 2026, offering up a frankly massive list of 75 titles. And that was after we had to cut it down from over 100!
Yep, it's already shaping up to be another strong year for PlayStation — and you just know that we'll be handed god-knows how many more 2026 release dates over the coming months.
A whopping 10,975 votes were cast in our Most Anticipated poll, and we've gathered the top 20 picks for the purposes of this feature.
So, without further ado, let's find out what the most anticipated PS5 games of 2026 are, according to the readers of this very website...
20. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake - 140 votes (1%)
19. Nioh 3 - 149 votes (1%)
18. Star Wars: Galactic Racer - 157 votes (1%)
17. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra - 163 votes (1%)
16. Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined - 176 votes (2%)
15. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve - 179 votes (2%)
14. The Blood of Dawnwalker - 222 votes (2%)
13. Onimusha: Way of the Sword - 262 votes (2%)
12. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight - 278 votes (3%)
11. Crimson Desert - 297 votes (3%)
10. Halo: Campaign Evolved - 324 votes (3%)
9. Pragmata - 328 votes (3%)
8. Saros - 429 votes (4%)
7. Control Resonant - 442 votes (4%)
6. Phantom Blade Zero - 449 votes (4%)
5. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis - 683 votes (6%)

You know, for all of the complaining that you lot do about remakes and remasters in our comments sections, remakes and remasters sure seem to be popular in polls like this. Really makes you think...
Our spiteful little jabs aside, we think people just really want to see Tomb Raider return to its roots and serve up a healthy mix of shooting dinosaurs and performing inch-perfect back flips again. And honestly, we can't blame 'em.
Legacy of Atlantis is a full-on remake of Lara's very first adventure, and it does show huge potential in its debut trailer. We'll be very interested in seeing how it tweaks the original gameplay formula.
4. Resident Evil Requiem - 871 votes (8%)

We feel like the hype for Resident Evil Requiem has gone up a notch since Leon was revealed as a second playable character, essentially splitting the game between classic survival horror and zombie-kicking action.
Given how strong the series has been in recent years — between the new games and its extremely polished remake trilogy — hopes are understandably high for this latest instalment.
Promising a potentially potent combination of nostalgia for stories gone by and brand new nightmares, Requiem already looks to be a standout 2026 release.
3. 007 First Light - 914 votes (8%)

Yes, we're getting a proper James Bond game — and it's no surprise that everyone seems to be so excited.
From the team behind the fantastic new Hitman titles, this appears to be a much more action-oriented, cinematic experience, but we're still anticipating a slew of clever gameplay mechanics, engaging environmental design, and, of course, some very quotable one-liners from the man himself.
We'll no doubt be seeing much more of this one over the next few of months as we rocket towards its May release date.
2. Grand Theft Auto 6 - 1,277 votes (12%)

Last year's Most Anticipated winner has only managed second place this time around, and it's difficult to determine why. Are people just sick of Grand Theft Auto 6 being delayed? Or are they just sick of hearing about Grand Theft Auto 6 in general? We'll let you decide.
Still, it's bagged a lot of votes.
There'll be no stopping this one when it does eventually release, and for what it's worth, we should be seeing more of Rockstar's open worlder throughout the year. Fingers crossed that some uncut gameplay footage is heading our way sooner rather than later.
1. Marvel's Wolverine - 1,328 votes (12%)

If you can believe it, a PlayStation Studios game has topped this year's Most Anticipated list. Heck, it's topped Grand Theft Auto 6 — and that's no easy feat.
Marvel's Wolverine is going to be Sony's tent pole PS5 title for 2026, and with the relentless Insomniac Games behind it, you already know what to expect: supreme polish, punchy combat, and a real respect for the source material.
The developer's already made it very clear that this is going to be a blood-soaked adaptation of the ever-popular character; the gameplay clips we've seen have been absolutely packed with dismemberment and gore. In short, this ain't Spider-Man.
We're all but guaranteed an in-depth State of Play for this one, but we'll still have to wait until the autumn / fall to actually get our hands on this iteration of fiction's most clawesome hero.
Maybe it's a good job that 2026's schedule is so busy!
What are your thoughts on this Most Anticipated list? Did the PS5 games you're most looking forward to make the cut? Look towards the year ahead in the comments section below.

A few interesting points from the poll results:
Thanks to everyone who voted!
Saros
Phantom blade zero
Nioh 3
Are my top 3 in no particular order
Worth saving this and comparing it with sales figures at year end.
Suspect it may reveal a large disparity between forums and the wider market.
I think 007 for example will be a LOT lower down the sales charts.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer and Yakuza Kiwami 3 are probably the only games I'll pre-order this year, but there's lots to look forward to!
I wonder how popular Wolverine would be if it wasn't 1st party? Like Spiderman, it's a game I doubt I'll ever play.
Surprised that Wolverine beat out GTAVI I can’t lie… maybe this is the house that ponies built 😉
I can't see past Nioh 3 at the moment. It's only a few weeks away now...
Most of these were in the positions I anticipated, with one exception. I’m surprised to see this many people excited for the 007 game. I like James Bond as much as the next person, but the game looked rather blah. Not bad per se, just very middle of the road. Maybe it’ll be awesome and I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I guess as far as Marvel stuff goes, Wolverine is a decent pick for a game. If nothing else, both the action and the story beats won't be as painfully sanitized as they are in everything else Insomniac makes.
That said, the only Top 5 game here I'm truly excited about is Requiem. Neither 007 nor Tomb Raider are my thing, and my interest in GTA VI has taken many a hit between recent studio news and all the delays.
That is a lot of western and capcom stuff lol. Nioh 3s my most anticipated and way too low. Cant wait for february
I think I voted for:
Wolverine
Cairn
Marvel Tokon
Tomb Raider
Saros
I didn't vote for GTA because I don't think it'll come this year.
Saros and Tokyo Extreme Racer.
It would be a travesty if GTA 6 beat Wolverine on a PS fan site haha
I have a gut feeling that 007 First Light is going to be a bit of a let-down. Every time they announce a new celebrity for the game, I get more wary of Amazon's involvement and less interested in the game.
The gameplay looks fun, but I think that the story might rub some Bond fans the wrong way.
I think Wolverine taking the top spot might be an indicator of how confident (or not) people are that GTA6 is coming this year.
The one of those games I can bank on is Wolverine and probably maybe GTA 6, depending on bugs etc.
Numbers 3 to 5 are my sit back and definitely see what the reviews say, as you never know what we might get nowadays.
007 needs more polish but has been put back.
RE9 will probably be 50% soppy hiding, I prefer Leon get in and attack.
TR remake seems ok, but far more excited for the new TM game in 2027.

Must say I’m looking forward to GTA more than Wolverine but the latter is a close second. Insomniac are absolutely killing it this gen. Long may it continue. Master stroke by Sony acquiring that studio
@Deljo
I have no idea what 'values' you are referring to?
Friendship? Family? Caring for / helping others having a hard time? Selfless acts?
The world, and video game stories need more 'values' like these...
Wolverine is definitely my first pick, but I'm surprised the new Onimusha game is so low on the list given the games history and how long it's been since the last game.
I was really excited for Nioh 3 until I saw the technical disaster that was the demo - I really hope they have spent the time fixing it up as it ran much worse than 2 and didn't look any better either.
I'm not really that interested in any of the titles to be honest. Maybe phantom blade and saros but nothing really out of all of them is making me go wow. All of the wolverine footage I've seen looks a bit rough and stilted. Let's see what happens.
@Rich33 yeah I wondered what "values" he was implying too..odd comment.
@Northern_munkey Outside a trio of Capcom titles and Control, I feel sorta the same. Things look great for super hero fans, but that’s not me (not even Wolverine). Games this year sort of reminds me of mid to late gen PS3/Xbox360 era for some reason. Ironically, very similar feeling release schedule looked like when GTA5 launched. At least to me. Hopefully we get Judas in ‘26. Bioshock Infinite beat GTA5 for me and I suspect a new Levine game could top GTA6 too.
@somnambulance I know I'm starting to sound like a broken record here but I just want assetto corsa rally..that's all I'm really, really looking forwards to. Everything else is just background noise to me.
Not surprised by Wolverine topping the list after the trailer showed them going fully down the mega violence route. I am a bit surprised that Nioh 3 was so far down however as I expect great things from it.
@ShogunRok I'm curious to know the most anticipated of the staff. Or was that already an article?
Cairn is the game I'm most excited for.
I'm sure some of these AAA games will prove to be great, but I'm in a wait and see mode for pretty much all of them.
@Rich33 🤣🤣🤣🤣 sure bud 👍
1. Saros
2. Wolverine
3. Resident Evil

No surprises with the top 2 on here, though for me personally, Resident Evil is top, followed by Tomb Raider, Pragmata and then 007, oh and Mouse PI For Hire
Grand theft auto. Nioh 3.onimusha.marvel wolverines.my top 4.word up son
Removed - discussing moderation
@species I know but sometimes you have to question things.
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider
@carlos82 Oh, that Mouse PI looks great! There's quite a few sim games I'm personally excited for that would never be listed, too.

@SeaDaVie ok.....
@SeaDaVie really?
@Deljo I said your comment was odd and without the context it was but what people are forgetting myself included is that you are entitled to your opinion and allowed to voice your opinion. If people want to discuss your reasoning rationaly then so be it but to be rude about it is not on as those that will be are the same people that will be having a right old meltdown when their opinions are lambasted too.
Wow, never imagined a game ending up above GTA. Let alone a game I never even heard of.
That's a pretty good top 20, surprised TR got 5th over Phantom Blade but ain't that mad about it , so many good games this year.
Who knows maybe a lot of boomers will buy 007 game, because otherwise it probably won’t do that well in terms of sells and end up being a niche. Which isn’t bad to start as a niche, because before persona 5, persona was a niche 👀🤔
I'm just hanging out for a release date for Euro & American Truck Simulator, hopefully it'll be soon.
That 007 game isn't grabbing me as a big Bond fan, looks kinda generic style over substance action, but we'll see. I'm sure the moment Bond goes to the bar & orders a soy latte, shaken not stirred will be a good laugh though.
@Northern_munkey Maybe I’ll check that one out on Steam! Looks pretty solid for a racing game.
@ZeroE I second that request for staff requests. It’s like GoTY all over again, but… for the future.
Just to add a game not on this list - Code Vein 2
Knowing my luck it might end up being a bit of a disaster, but I've enjoyed some of the trailers.
3) Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties
2) Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake
1) Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection
All in the first three months of the year. 2026 is off to a pretty good start.
March 12, Toxic Commando
@Northern_munkey That didnt take long huh?
@species never does.
I’m looking forward to TombRaider more than GTA at this point. Classic lara finally back. hopefully there’s mods on PC , to “enhance” some things ..and remove some things 😂
@Darude84 they keep delaying it, who cares anymore. Plus , imo , Cali > Florida . the setting is a downgrade
@Rich33 “ The world, and video game stories need more 'values' like these”
there’s tons of games like this, where have you been?
I think i voted for Wolverine, Saros, PB0, Onimusha, and RE9/Pragmata/Ace Combat. Not surprised with Wolverine at no 1 beaten GTA 6.
I think GTA 6 lost a lot of its hype after delayed and rumor that it will be price at $100. But i'm sure it'll sold like hotcakes whenever it comes out.
Halo (still can’t believe we’re getting it!), GTA 6, and Wolverine are my tops. Waiting to hear more about some of the others on this list, which look promising.
I tended to vote for stuff releasing earlier in the year like 007 and Pragmata. It's hard to get too excited for anything releasing beyond early summer considering if GTA6 doesn't get delayed, the later in the year releases I'm interested in could get delayed to 2027. For example, Legacy of Atlantis is probably an October release because of Tomb Raider's 30th anniversary month but if Rockstar moved GTA6 forward to October, that probably means LoA gets delayed to 2027.
@graymamba i mean i'm excited for gta6 but outside of 2 trailers we haven't seen any of it when wolverine's last trailer kind of showed a lil bit more in how the game will look imo. i feel like if we've seen more of gta6 and some details it would have won pretty easily also the delays doesn't help.
there are some games like the assasins creed 4 remake ( we all know its coming) that i would have voted for.
I'm surprised so few people are excited about Dawnwalker. I think it'll be a great surprise for everyone.

Another amazing year of games ahead. Way too many as usual. But GTA 6 is my ultimate most anticipated game. Really hope it hits the November date. 🤞
@SoulChimera I'll be excited about it by the time it's visible on the horizon, but there's too many other cool things between now and its release, currently. I hope it turns out to be absolutely incredible and everything it promises to be. I'm also interested in the sales records it's inevitably going to break. Surely the biggest entertainment media release of all time? And when it's available, can we start work on Red Dead Redemption 3 please, Rockstar? Pretty please!
No Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Remake? Unbelievable...
@The_Elder I'm interested in Dawn walker but it's definitely a wait on reviews kind of game. I know the game has good pedigree behind it but so did Mindseye!
The big red flag for me though is the ticking clock, that constant pressure plus the ability to fail/miss quests is definitely a bold gameplay choice but could turn a lot of people off.
@Llamageddon it is not exactly a ticking clock. The time moves only when you complete/progress a quest, so you have to choose which quests you do. Additionally, quest can be completed in multiple ways. As I see it, those mechanics aim at replayability - you can have many completely different playthroughs.
Sure, there are plenty of huge, open world RPGs where you get to do everything over the span of hundreds of hours (and I'm a huge fan of them) but a lot of people voiced fatigue of those games so I think this approach might actually really click with many players.
Wolverine above GTA6..?!
lol
I'm interested in that Tomb Raider that looks like uncharted I saw a trailer of gameplay on Facebook but it didn't have a title and I'm confused to which one is it lol
I really thought GTA VI would be #1. And totally expecting another delay.
Dang not a single trails game there that's sad
Resident Evil: Requiem is the game I'm most looking forward to this year and nothing else is really that close. RE: Village is still my favorite PS5 game. Not too much longer to wait now.
@Leinad7 i feel like with it keep getting delayed a lot of people aren't expecting it this year at all
@The_Elder dawnwalker looks great, i feel like once it gets a solid release date it will get more hype. it was a studio i wish that sony picked up.
Low key a pretty balanced list
