Behind the scenes here at Push Square, we're hard at work with prepping all of our Game of the Year content. But as always, there's one annual award that we leave completely open to our lovely audience.
We are, of course, talking about the Most Anticipated PS5 title of the coming year. 2026 is already looking packed, and so while we're sure that yet more release dates will be locked in over the next few months, there's still plenty to pick through in our poll.
We need you to select five games in our poll. Your choices are weighted, which means that your first choice — your most anticipated — gets five points, your second choice gets four points, and so on.
The top ten most popular picks will then be featured in a Most Anticipated PS5 Games article over the holidays — so choose wisely!
Please note that only games with an official '2026' release window are included in this poll. The likes of Naughty Dog's Intergalactic and hyped remake Persona 4 Revivalare not eligible because of this.
Voting closes at midnight (GMT) on Thursday the 18th December.
So, without further ado, let's get started. Vote for your five Most Anticipated PS5 games in our poll, and then explain yourself in the comments section below.
What are your most anticipated PS5 games of 2026? (3,370 votes)
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he's played 'em all. A little too much, some might say.
@Enuo I'm in the same boat. Can't bring myself to give 2 ***** about the game after all the nonsense they've pulled over the past decade with GTA Online.
Hard to pick just 5 to be honest. I've got my eyes on at least 25 on that list. If even half of them deliver it will be another strong year.
While I am not the biggest fan of Rockstar's gameplay there is no doubting a new R* game, and even more so a new GTA game, is a seismic event in gaming. Personally I am always fascinated to see what it possible with a comparatively unlimited budget. But it would be nice to see some actual gameplay innovation.
I’m actually excited for 2026. First full year of games I’m amped on since current gen launched. Every year has had its games yeah. But I’m looking forward to something throughout the whole year. Les gooooo
Damn, I wish there was a way to take back my vote and recast it because it's only when writing this that I realise I missed a couple of the games that are releasing.
My top 5 would be:
1. Resident Evil Requiem 2. Marvel's Wolverine 3. Control Resonant 4. Pragmata 5. Saros 6. The Blood of Dawnwalker 7. Star Wars Zero Company 8. Crimson Desert 9. Mortal Shell 2 10. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra 11. Code Vein 2 12. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis 13. Star Wars: Galactic Racer 14. 007 First Light 15. Halo: Campaign Evolved 16. Nioh 3 17. Onimusha: Way of the Sword 18. Phantom Blade Zero 19. Gothic
In all honesty, it is difficult to put the games in any real order once I get past the number 5 position, but it is almost guaranteed that I will be buying every one of them by way of pre-order so it's going to be a bumper (and expensive!) year for me...
1. Wolverine
2. GTA6
3. Marvel Tokon
4. Saros
5. Resident Evil 9
6. Phantom Blade Zero
7. Control Resonant
8. Chronoscript
9. Marathon (release month confirmed, just saw the deep dive, and it actually got me pretty excited about it)
I dont know if the God of War 2.5D game is real and if it will release in 2026, but i’m also interested in that one. Also curious to see that Horizon co op game
1. Control 2
2. Pragmata
3. Resident Evil 9
4. Mina the Hollower
5. Halo on PlayStation 5 for the sheer novelty of it
Outside that, we’ll see what Xbox games come over to PS5 because Fable is exciting too. I’m looking forward to Bubsy 4D, of all things. GTA6 might be #6 for me, but I’m not sure about it. I’ve got a weird feeling about this next GTA game and I can’t quite describe it. Tomb Raider’s up there too, and maybe 007. I’m not 100% sold on the Bond game, but I’m contemplating. I feel the same about Dawnwalker.
I’m going to try to reduce my gaming to buying 1-2 games a month and next year looks like a good year to do that, with a AAA and indie balanced per month possibly.
I would have included GTA 6 but the management managed to tank their reputation completely. I was already suspicious of what they might put into the game in terms of predatory practices and their pricing scheme.
As is, there are so many great games already to choose from that making the list is really tricky. I had to go with Wolverine as it will be a childhood dream come true. Then, Blood of Dawn walker and 007 from Danish IO Interactive. The rest were difficult to choose from.
Nioh 3 easily of what's already announced and it's coming very early 2026 so who knows what else the year has in store. After that I picked the lego batman game just cuz an arkham style lego batman could be seriously fun. Then MH Stories 3, code vein 2, and phantom blade
Reanimal. That's more or less it for me. But Carmageddon could be fun. One can hope.
There are some rumours swirling that HL3 might finally be releasing, or at least seeing an announcement. I'm not counting on it, to be honest. But if it does, it might be the one game that can (and probably will) take the wind out of GTA's sails.
I know it's not cool to admit to liking it. I know the online element and artificially extended lifespan of GTA V have made it hard to like. But I've been with this series since the beginning and I just can't wait for the next one.
Surprised that so little people voted Mortal Shell 2. Soulslike game that (the first one) was amazingly good for sturio with (ad far as i remember) 15-20 people
5- Mortal Shell 2
4-Control
3-RE Requiem
2-Directive 8020
1-Lego
This was a tough one but I've gone fro sken safe picks for games i know il definitely enjoy.
Trails in The Sky 2nd Chapter Monster Hunter Stories 3 Trails Beyond the Horizon Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis
I'm also looking forward to a few more but they could be hit and miss like Pragmata, Wolverine, The Adventures of Elliot, Fatal Frame 2 and Control Resonant. 2026 is looking like a banger year though, especially when I throw in a few Switch 2 releases.
I'm personally most excited for some newer IP coming out. Who doesn't love the sequels and remakes coming, but this generation could use some more original standouts.
It wasn't on the list, but I'd like to give a special shoutout to The Sinking City 2! According to the devs, release is scheduled for the 1st half of 2026.
Tell me about it, @Titntin, and I really will buy the vast majority of them, if not all of them. I'm not yet sure about Gothic, and how that will look come release, but the rest are definitely looking like must have games. My only hope is that there are not too many Collector's Editions to be had amongst them because not only are they getting more and more expensive, but I have run out of room to display them, but I really am a sucker for a Collector's Edition... 😂

Damn, not even Push Square is convinced Fairgames is coming out next year. =P
My most anticipated was a toss up between TR and Nioh 3, but ultimately I went with
Nioh 3
TR Legacy of Atlantis
007 first light
GTA 6
Wolverine
Polls like this remind me how liberating it is to not care about GTA6.
@RBMango I know, that’s the game I’m looking forward to the most, right above Highguard.
@Enuo I'm in the same boat. Can't bring myself to give 2 ***** about the game after all the nonsense they've pulled over the past decade with GTA Online.

Saros
Phantom blade zero
Nioh 3
Onimusha
007

Tomb Raider
Resident Evil
GTA 6
Wolverine
Marvel 1943
Tricky to say with the final one as not seen any gameplay yet.
Phantom Blade Zero, Lords of the Fallen 2, Code Vein 2, Crimson Desert, and Nioh 3 are my top five.
@Spectralmews props for having Nioh 3 at the top (I'm not biased at all I promise)
If god of war 2d is real and comes out next year then that will be my most anticipated game.
No Marathon, really?
For me in Order it's
GTA 6
Wolverine
RE9
Saros
Phantom blade 0
I limited myself to games I actually plan on buying on PlayStation instead of Switch/Xbox.
1. Romeo is a Dead Man (pending any S2 announcement)
2. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis (gonna play OG and Anniversary as the lead up)
3. Resident Evil Requiem (even though I have yet to play VII or VIII and likely won't buy Requiem until 2027 at the earliest)
4. Grand Theft Auto 6 (I guess... I'm curious how it'll turn out)
5. High on Life 2 (mostly just because of the skateboard)
HM that I forgot existed until I was at GTA: Saros (probably my actual #3, but I didn't feel like redoing my list)
@SeaDaVie lol. I laughed so hard to this
I went with
1. Control: Resonant
2. Saros
3. Wolverine
4. Resident Evil: Requiem
5. Onimusha: Way of the Warrior
Probably only the first 3 are potential Day One games though.
@Rezium It was close ngl but I love Nioh, didn't feel right not having it number 1 😄.
Damn, I wish there was a way to take back my vote and recast it because it's only when writing this that I realise I missed a couple of the games that are releasing.
My top 5 would be:
1. Resident Evil Requiem
2. Marvel's Wolverine

4. Pragmata
5. Saros
6. The Blood of Dawnwalker
7. Star Wars Zero Company
8. Crimson Desert
9. Mortal Shell 2
10. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
11. Code Vein 2
12. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
13. Star Wars: Galactic Racer
14. 007 First Light
15. Halo: Campaign Evolved
16. Nioh 3
17. Onimusha: Way of the Sword
18. Phantom Blade Zero
19. Gothic

I dont know if the God of War 2.5D game is real and if it will release in 2026, but i’m also interested in that one. Also curious to see that Horizon co op game
I went with: Pragmata, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Marvel Token, and Scott Pilgrim. Won’t be surprised if GTA gets pushed to 2027.
Mina The Hollower and Control for me! Everything else is nice to have ❤️
I feel that GTA6 shouldn’t even be on this list because if the inevitable one last delay.
1. Nioh 3
2. Wolverine
3. Tokon
4. GTA6
5. Monster Hunter Stories 3
I voted for those but I didn’t see Saros in the list when quickly scrolling through which would have been 5.
Also, Marathon is expected next Spring? Sony mentions that in every financial call, surprised it's not on the list!
Nioh 3. Team ninja make the best non Fromsoft soulslikes
No Hype for Kaname Date: An AI the Somnium Files Story
1. Control 2
2. Pragmata
3. Resident Evil 9
4. Mina the Hollower
5. Halo on PlayStation 5 for the sheer novelty of it

Fatal Frame 2 > Monster Hunter Stories 3 > Yakuza Kiwami 3 > Tomb Raider
It's the Trails series for me.
Nioh 3 easily of what's already announced and it's coming very early 2026 so who knows what else the year has in store. After that I picked the lego batman game just cuz an arkham style lego batman could be seriously fun. Then MH Stories 3, code vein 2, and phantom blade
Forza Horizon 6 (hopefully)
Ace Combat 8
Wolverine
Lego Batman
Saros
Jesus wept! Next year is so gods damned stacked.
My most anticipated PS5 games next year are:
Crimson Desert
The Legend of Heroes: Trails beyond the Horizon
Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter
Yakuza Kiwami 3
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
There are great many games coming out in 2026, even without western games in general and Marvel in particular.
Great, PushSquare confirms that GTA6 will come in 2026.
Seriously, I think that Pragmata with its Shooter + Puzzle gameplay can be a huge surprise.
And 007 looks like finest AAA.
1.Grand theft auto 6.2.onimusha way of the sword.3.marvel wolverine.4.resident evil requiem. 5.007 first light.word up son
Reanimal. That's more or less it for me. But Carmageddon could be fun. One can hope.

Hands down, GTA 6. Then only real ones for me are the James bond, wolverine, pragmata and res
Deep Down,
WiLD,
Abandoned,
Beyond Good & Evil 2,
Little Devil Inside,
Wait. sorry, wrong list.
It won't let me vote because I only have one game, lol. Still not sure about Crimson Desert, but its the only one. Looks like another empty year.
@Fiendish-Beaver Thats an expensive year ahead, and some fine picks!
I know it's not cool to admit to liking it. I know the online element and artificially extended lifespan of GTA V have made it hard to like. But I've been with this series since the beginning and I just can't wait for the next one.
Closely followed by Nioh 3 and Cairn.
Surprised that so little people voted Mortal Shell 2. Soulslike game that (the first one) was amazingly good for sturio with (ad far as i remember) 15-20 people
5- Mortal Shell 2

Stacked year!

It wasn't on the list, but I'd like to give a special shoutout to The Sinking City 2! According to the devs, release is scheduled for the 1st half of 2026.
My top5:
1. RE9
2. Wolverine
3. TR Remake
4. 007
5. PB0
Such a solid lineup that it was honestly hard to limit it to 5. Super excited for the games next year will bring 😬
Alot of great games next year. Genuinely difficult to narrow it down to a top 5, but as of this moment this is how I was feeling:
1. Saros
2. Reanimal
3. Fatal Frame II: Remake
4. Ontos
5. Wolverine
Tell me about it, @Titntin, and I really will buy the vast majority of them, if not all of them.
