SlashOut, the hack-and-slash successor to the Toshihiro Nagoshi directed SpikeOut – most recently included in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii – will be fully playable in Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.
It’ll join the previously announced Emergency Call Ambulance, alongside a “treasure trove of machines”, according to a SEGA press release.
While SpikeOut focused on street-style brawls, SlashOut shifted this concept to a medieval fantasy-style environment, where you battle with weapons against mythological creatures. Its core gameplay feel remains fairly similar, though, despite the change in setting.

In the upcoming remake, protagonist Kazuma Kiryu will also have a Game Gear, with various games including Sonic Chaos emulated in their entirety. Bandai Namco has also shared some of its software, so you’ll be able to play the GG versions of Pac-Man, Mappy, and Galaga ’91 as well.
Of course, this is all in addition to a wealth of other minigames, including karaoke (with new songs), pool, and darts.
In addition, Kiryu will get a new period appropriate flip-phone, which he’ll be able to decorate with all sorts of Rhinestones and stickers.
The phone will include an infrared-style app where you’ll be able to connect with the locals around Kamurocho and Okinawa by zapping them. You’ll also be able to open ‘Loveboxes’ containing useful items and rewards.
Some of the new sub-stories in the game will see Kiryu posing as an impromptu host named Kazzy-chan, as well as revolve around a dog who digs up a dirty magazine.
It all sounds like brilliant fun in another absolutely action-packed effort, with the game due out imminently, on 12th February.
