State of Play Announced for 11th November, Focus on Japanese PS5 Games

Unexpected, bit of a longshot but I wonder if we'll get any news from Team Asobi.

As a major weeb, I look forward to seeing what these Japanese studios have to offer. I know it's from a china but I wonder when we will get an actual release date for Phantom Blade Zero.

This sounds catered to me as I love Japanese games. Can't think of anything big that would be revealed though, the next Persona and Dragon Quest are still years away, maybe updates on Resident Evil and Pragmata. Kingdom Hearts 4 has also been missing for a while so maybe thats due an update.

Of course we will get the usual gacha games getting some run time, especially with Infinity Nikki having it's 1 year anniversary update early December. Just hope there's liitle to no souls games shown/announced.

For first party I would expect to see Marvel Tokon and possibly Astro Bot (still praying for some DLC).

Excellent! Will undoubtedly be the best State of Play of 2025 for me.

Pragmata just needs a release date announced now, been looking better and better with every new trailer they’ve shown, gameplay looks great too.

Japanese games are why I chose the PlayStation ecosystem to begin with. Looking forward to this! ^_^

Its time once again folks to get a bunch of really promising, really cool looking titles, but then moan at PlayStation anyway because they haven't announced GTA 7, Last of Us 3, Crash Bandicoot 5, that Sony are buying Capcom, Half Life 3, Portal 3, or that Jim Ryan will be imortalised as the Don Mattrick of Playstation.

It's so nice when there aren't any attention-seeking insiders around to leak these things. Makes for a nice breath of fresh air.

The number 1 complaint from 3rd parties about PS5 is that it's too expensive so maybe Sony does what Nintendo did with Switch 2 and announce a cheaper Japan region locked console?

@PuppetMaster why not, FFVII remake part 3 is a big contender to be shown here. Final Fantasy tactics also got announced on a state of play first. It's not because they went multiplatform with every game from now on, that they won't announce anything on a Sony state of play.

40 minute run time, how many of those minutes will be dedicated to same looking anime style f2p games? I'm going 15-20 minutes.

It's going to be Japanese remakes of Horizon and Last of Us.

I have no expectations going in. I’d be content if Phantom Blade Zero got a release date. Other than that, I’m fine with whatever they decide to present—I have too many games to play as it is.

They been showing a first party game at the end of each of the latest state of plays so I expect new tokon stuff or they finally show the new god of war 2d game.

I feel like either new Astro Bot levels or new characters/release date for Marvel Tokon is pretty realistic. Maybe the God of War 2D game, if it was supposed to be at the last show and got pushed.

I feel like new RE9 trailer is due and maybe Leon reveal? Although TGA would be more hype for that type of thing.

Pragmata&Onimusha too. I only care about character reveals if Marvel Tokon so there is that.

Now this is what I want to see, not much hope for a reveal of Sony's own Japanese games though.

@1UP-HUSKY SE probably already made a deal with Sony for FF Tactics to showed up at SoP months before SE announced their multiplat plan. So don't expect VIIR Part 3 or other unannounced games to show up at SoP.

Japanese games will be top tier as always. Hoping for more Stranger than heaven, but they'll probably keep it for after Kiwami 3 releases. Maybe Konami will have some news. Just no weeb pandering please.

Please, please let this be a moment where Ape Escape finally get a new game, a new Gravity Rush game (or at least remaster GR2) and a port of Gundam Extreme VS Infinite Boost.

But I'm glad that this is a Japan and asia focused SoP.

@PuppetMaster deal for FFVII have been made as well, Sony even funded alot for the remake, so it will show up at some point. Same for KH4. PlayStation is still a big market for SE, don't really get all the remarks about SE being done with PlayStation, nowhere have they said that. Only YouTube and website clickbaits have claimed that.

SE have always been multiplatform even in the psone and Ps2 days, they just didn't release on other platforms. The rising costs for there big titles force them to now, reasoning behind the full multiplatform releases from now on.

As a fellow Major Weeb myself, it is one of the main reasons why Playstation is my main gaming system.
Very curious with this SOP. We do need the releases of Phantom Blade Zero, Onimusha Way of the Sword and Pragmata at the very least.
Maybe more info on Tides of Annihilation, Ballad of Antara and The Perceiver. Who knows....

Inb4 people starting posting about Bloodborne Remaster copium even though it's highly unlikely that it'll happen unfortunately lol would be cool to see Team Asobi's new project though. If we might get something from China Hero too, I hope they'll announce an update for Convalleria as it's their second China Hero game that they'll publish and we haven't gotten any big news from it since 2022.

A Gravity Rush Remaster was rumoured last year. Maybe it's on the cards? One can only hope.

Mostly though, I expect this to be third party focused.

@Mostik We already had the cinematic trailer in August for Black Myth Zhong Kui to let us know its in development so I highly doubt we will see anything more on that until next year

It would be cool if Sony actually announce they formed a brand new first party Japanese studio to make a exclusive triple A Jrpg game.

Silent Hill F, phantom blade zero, Ghost of Yotei, Assassins creed shadows, black myth wukong, the next black myth, Nioh 3, rise of the ronin....just to name a few.

Some great games in there, esp Yotei and black myth. They were fantastic.

But remember back when the WW2 setting was getting tired in shooters that they abandoned it all together. The Asian/set in Japan theme's are walking that line. Esp in the 3rd person action realm. Esp after the choice for Silent hill F

I would love a Scarlett Nexus 2 announcement. Really enjoyed the first one. If this State of Play is mostly just talking and some gameplay that will be fine with me, at least Sony is showcasing some Japanese games/Asian Country games that are coming to the PS5. Give the studios some time to talk/promote their games.

@PuppetMaster I know, I'm lucky enough to have grabbed a physical copy back at release (because they're costly now), but I'm talking about a PS5 remaster which was rumoured last year, which would hopefully include a 60fps version of GR2. As someone who doesn't care about 4K, I'm happy with the PS4 remaster, but I imagine they wouldn't include it with 2 for newcomers.

They supposedly have a film in development (been a little while since last update), so I imagine it would timed to release so that they have a PS5 game on the (digital?) shelves for when the film releases, like they did with the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves collection.

I'd love to see Loulan: The Cursed Sand and Phantom Blade 0 get release dates. It'd be cool to see a new Square Enix remaster, like for FF13 trilogy, Star Ocean 3 or Drakenguard, and a look at smaller, quirkier Japanese/Asian games. No matter what gets announced, it's nice to see PS doing a surprise SoP focused on Asian projects when their market focus these last few gens has definitely shifted.

and ico remake would be great , i doubt it would happen though. if a team like asobi did a platformer like jax and daxter or ape escape i think they could do really well with that.

As there is an MC, I expect more conversation, behind-the-scenes insights, and indie perspectives. There might be 1 or 2 AAA new game announcements if we are fortunate. This close to the game awards, most AAA games will be saving the announcements for that show.

I would keep my expectations very low for this one (Will just check the highlights on here).

@LogicStrikesAgain I would also like to see the next MGS collection which supposedly includes MGS4. Never got to play it and in my eyes theres no point in forking out for an old console just to play it when the next collection is in the works.
