For people who have played/are playing it, do you need to play RE8 for any real background information? I’ve gotten through the lake area in RE8 and said enough is enough. It became a slog so I dropped it. I’ve played and loved RE2, RE3, RE4 and RE7. RE8 just did not click with me

About to finish Yakuza Kiwami 3’s main game trophies. I wasn’t really thrilled with the remake. Was the original rough to play? Absolutely. But it’s clear that RGG wants to retcon a lot of characters’ fates. News flash: don’t kill off characters that you think could be fun/useful down the line. Only kill them off if you need to, it makes sense and you see no real future for them in the franchise. Leaving a character’s fate ambiguous is fine or lock ‘em up. Like RGG fumbled so damn hard killing off a great villain in the early games who could still be VERY relevant to this day. But no, let’s ass pull ***** here.

Overall, it’s a nice little remake. Onto playing Dark Ties hoping that changes my mind a bit.

Yep, knew people would vote abysmal just because of the controversy. It’s nowhere close to being abysmal. Is it perfect? No. Yakuza 3 was never perfect. But abysmal? Not even close.

I’m struggling to know if this game is for me or not. I loved RE2/RE3/RE4/RE7. But RE8? I just can’t complete it and not because it’s hard. It’s not. It just bores me.

I have to wait for reviews to know if it’s mandatory/highly recommended story-wise to play RE8 before this one because RE8 let me down big time.

Just started Yakuza Kiwami 3. The graphics aren’t great but I’m enjoying it. Combat retains enough of the original without being “slam your head” annoying

I’m also slowly playing Baldur’s Gate 3. Still on Act 1 but I finished the Goblin Camp, Grove, Ethel, and Blighted Village stuff so far. I’m working through the UnderDark area ATM

Just bizarre. Whoever decided Bluepoint should go full live service should’ve been fired whether it’s the studio head and/or some PS bigwig. But just dismantling the whole studio is bizarre. They’ve botched a lot of IPs/studios this generation.

They should’ve designated Bluepoint Studios as the remake/remaster studio with a revolving door of teams that may or may not go on to make their own studios under Sony’s umbrella or given Bluepoint the green light on its own IP.

Sony really dropped the ball with the cash cow chase. A chase isn’t just won by the fastest; if you can’t hold your own and stay steady against the competition trying to trip you up, you will never win.

You can be an RPG without being as in-depth as Baldur’s Gate 3 nor Witcher 3/Cyberpunk.

I’ve been playing my first ever playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3 which is phenomenal. I can see why it’s a 10/10 game almost everywhere as I think it may end up in my Top 5. I’m currently in Act 1 through the Goblin Camp and just entered the Underdark (I cannot exactly remember if that’s the name). The amount of directions the game can take is astonishing… and overwhelming at first. I never had that issue with Witcher/Cyberpunk which are much more straightforward IMO.

All of that being said, I think it’s good that Crimson Desert devs are setting the expectations rather than letting it run rampant (although I haven’t followed every word they’ve said). If they misled people into thinking it’s on Baldur’s Gate 3’s scale for player freedom and wasn’t… there would be an “Internet Mob” uproar

Once the “Internet” decides it hates something, it’s mob mentality. Tons will jump on it and bash it to look cool/fit in/stress relieve themselves.

Now, I’ve never played it because I don’t play games that focus mostly on multiplayer. I’m not even saying it’s great or even good. I’m saying that once the Internet declares that a game is trash, it’s really hard to rebound IMO.

I have no attachment to the original trilogy combat because… my dad rented it for us boys at BlockBuster but I rage quit as a kid during the first fight. I never played it again. I LOVED God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok. I’m fine with whatever direction they decide

I preordered the first game and thought it looked beautiful… but the combat and exploration felt stiff and awkward. I’ll have to wait for reviews on this.

I have faith whatever game Cory Barlog makes will at least be extremely quality and fun to play. Honestly, I’m excited to finally play GoW Trilogy even if it seems like a year or two at minimum away. I tried to stream it via PS+ but my internet is trash.

You’d be lying if you said this wasn’t at minimum okay. To me, it was excellent. One of the best State of Plays by Sony maybe ever. Proof that Sony shouldn’t force these. They should just put them together when they know they have banger content

Well deserved!! I am in the minority who want P to be the main character in the sequel. Most want Dorothy which I cannot blame. I’d rather P be the “tin man” and expand his journey tbh

So is it basically “Alternate Universe” Yakuza timeline? Maybe Stranger than Heaven plays into this a little bit if it is? Or is it basically just a reimagining? I’m just confused on where this is going. I’m extremely disappointed that they won’t be doing Yakuza 4 any time soon. But I 100% expect them to work on it eventually.

They probably want to get a couple more Ichiban games out first. Because at this rate, Ichiban will be 90 years old by the time he reaches his 6th game

All I want is a Hades II announcement because I know none of my other mainstays (Persona/Atlus, Yakuza, Final Fantasy, Paw Patro— I mean any FromSoft souls-esque title/Bloodborne, Lies of P 2, etc) have a shot in hades of having a major announcement. Maybe the exception is FromSoftware but I doubt it ATM

Yesterday, I finished up playing Lies of P again. I did a NG run on the PS4 version for trophies then played the DLC for the first time on NG+ on my PS5 save file. I absolutely loved the DLC. I don’t normally play DLC unless it’s one of my mainstay games, but I dived into this one. No regrets. I need Lies of P 2 ASAP.

Probably going to slowly continue my replay of Yakuza 0 on the PS5. It’s one of the best Kiryu games IMO. I’m immensely disappointed Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties shares a trophy list. Because of that, I’m going to hold off on buying it. I would’ve bought it Day 1 to play Mine’s Gaiden game easy.

I still need to play Silent Hill 2 but I heard it wasn’t optimized great for the Pro. Silent Hill F is on my list as well.

Although, I need to slog through RE 8 for RE9 to be reunited with the homie Leon. It just feels like RE8 was a downgrade from RE 2, RE 3, RE 4 and RE 7 (the only ones I’ve played so far) excluding the Lady Dimitrescu section. Tbh, the game should’ve been focused on her from what I’ve played

Issue with this is less reviewers would be open to being 100% honest because of the threat of backlash if they harshly review the wrong game.

If they pull it off, it sounds awesome. But it’s a huge “wait and see for reviews” title instead of an automatic Day 1 purchase.

Yakuza 3 had the worst combat in the series by far but I loved the actual locale. It’s some of the most infuriating combat. Block block block. So brutal.

I’m pretty excited to play it again with the combat adjusted. It feels like Yakuza 9 may have some connection with Yakuza Kiwami 3 so we’ll see

To me, Infinite Wealth was fantastic. I adored it so much. I need to finish RE8 so this may be the perfect timing

When I’m not watching the NFL Play-Offs (GOOO PATS!!!!), I’ll be switching between replays of Lies of P (PS4 trophy list) & Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut (PS5). It’s honestly a great balance between the pair. I forgot how amazing Yakuza 0 was.

I wanted to replay Yakuza 0 through 2 before Yakuza 3 Kiwami releases but… I’ve been playing like a snail :’) there’s no way I finish through 0 through 2 before then 😭😭😭 Cabaret Club stole about 10+ hours of my time. It’s addicting, man

Lies of P is just excellent. Got through the cathedral and I’m nearing my favorite parts. I love any good that teaches you that lying is the right way to go 😈😈

Yakuza games are some of the best bang for your back value in all of gaming. Some of the arcade games and mini-games you can absorb tens of hours in. Heck, Cabaret Club is my favorite part of Yakuza 0

@Oram77 literally my plan as well! Whenever that FF7 Remake Part 3 trailer hits with the name reveal at the end, I feel like a ton will be doing the same.

I only have Hard Mode and the VR fights left for FF7 Rebirth’s platinum. I have everyone’s levels (but not abilities because I need the hard mode manuscripts) maxed out, all materia found & leveled up, all the damn mini-games completed, and all other trophies. Those mini-games were a SLOG. Hate Jules with a passion.

Honestly, I am not looking forward to the Cait Sith or Red XIII solo VR battles. They’re not my favorite characters to fight with tbh.

I even bought an EU copy of FF7 Remake so I can get my third platinum of it. I still think it holds up but Rebirth’s combat is vastly smoother IMO. But I’m very easy to please… so my opinion is bleh 😂😎😂 I also never played the original which probably factors in at least a bit.

There’s really no reason Square couldn't and shouldn’t outsource it to a young/up-and-coming developer for a remastered collection. It’d build a relationship with a new developer and they’d be making money off a title they’re clearly doing nothing with ATM.

Honestly? Nothing. I’ve binged Stranger Things from S1 to the beginning of S5. It’s my first time watching it and… I’m addicted.

I actually rewatched all of S4 so I watched it twice because holy ***** it was great. Still amazing on an immediate rewatch. It’s very, very rare for me to rewatch any show after/during a binge. So props to Stranger Things for drawing that out of me.

This month, I’ve put like ten to twelve hours into Yakuza 0 and eight to ten into Death Stranding 2. Other than that? It’s been all Stranger Things. And… no regrets.

Day 1 buy easy.

I’m only on Chapter 2 of Death Stranding 2 yet I adore it. I’m trying to slowly tackle it so I don’t get burned out.

But Ghost of Yotei was such a blast to play. I even enjoyed riding my horsey around with the excuse of collecting resources just so I can check out the graphics of the environments. I couldn’t put it down

I’m having a blast with it. Playing as Majima is always welcomed. His opening scene is still glorious to me.

These remasters are awesome for new fans and old fans wanting to play it again. But I care more about the actual future of the franchise. (these are all just me thinking out loud— all hypothetical)

Will any addition of Yakuza Kiwami 3, Dark Ties Gaiden or whatever it’s called, have any story or gameplay influence/effect on its future?

Will Yakuza 4 Kiwami whenever it’s revealed have a Gaiden and who will it focus on? Akiyama is preferred.

What is the direction of Yakuza 9? Can we move away from the retreading plot points in the “Great Dissolution”? 1 game was fine, 2 games pushed it, 3 games will be insanely overboard. Are we going back to Hawaii, revisiting an old place, going to a new Japanese city or a new city in a different country?

Is Judgment just dead? No continuation even with a different protagonist? Is Stranger Than Heaven going to fill in that void? Are we going to get a Majima Pirate sequel? Or a different Majima themed game? I loved Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and both Judgment games so I’d love a continuation or something in the future.

Love that these remasters will get more people into the franchise. But the actual direction of where it goes from here is key.

I’ve upgraded it with no problem but I’m also from the USA.

Dead Island 2 was just silly fun which I had an absolute blast with. I’d definitely play & buy the third game.

Honestly, wasn’t spectacular. The only new game that I didn’t know much about that I’m interested in is Gang of Dragon or whatever it’s called
