After weeks and weeks of crazy gaming stories, I think it was nice to have a slower one this time. Don’t get me wrong, there’s tons of titles coming out, but the news cycle in particular was a lot steadier these past few days. Let’s WAYP.
Jamie O’Neill
Portable PS1 games on my PS Vita are serving me well at the moment, so I'm going to follow in Stephen's footsteps – echoing through Dracula's castle's stone flooring from back in WAYP 639 – by returning to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

I’m pretty sure I’m allowed to say I’m playing Star Wars Galactic Racer, I just don’t think I can share any explicit details yet. Check back next week for more.
It’s a short and sweet WAYP this week, I think because we’re basically inundated with reviews right now. It’s all hands on deck, folks! But what are you playing? Be sure to let me know in the comments section below.

A bit of Cell Dweller (edit: Well Dweller, not Cell Dweller, 😂, finishing up Serious Sam 3 (starts off lousy, ends up pretty good) and hopefully a bit of Silent Hill: Townfall and/or Resident Evil: Requiem
Have a great weekend Folks!
Out of town but on my portal will be playing the lovely Onimusha WOTS as well as Well Dweller
The approach of walking everywhere might seem a little bonkers but it's been and still is great fun. I'm meeting travellers on the road, happening upon towns where I can sell the loot I gather along the way, experiencing the real depth and careful creation of the games flora and fauna, and really just being there in the moment. It creates a kind of unique immersion, and it's how I play a lot of games like this. I've reserved running for when I have to catch a fleeing bounty, it's better than shooting them in the back and collecting only half the fee.
I've given the playthrough a kind of custom lore too, akin to Chief Justice Fargo from Judge Dredd taking his long walk and bringing justice to those who have none. A fun consequence is that I have to plan each quest carefully on a notepad so that I can find the optimal route within walking distance. Also I have a husky now, all kitted out in shiny regal puppy plate armor. He scampers around picking up loot from defeated enemies so I don't have to.
After countless recommendations I've finally taken the plunge into the pit and I have to say it's even more fun than I expected. The story is fairly simple, one day a giant mysterious ball-like meteor appears and reduces the glorious city of Ballbylon to a crater, which in-turn opens a giant hole into a monster infested deep dark abyss. Instead of running to the hills the remaining townspeople decide that it would be a great idea to build an elevator so that they can explore the hellscape on their doorstep. And that's where the player comes in, they too take the plunge and engage in a game of high-stakes pinball where the bumpers are monsters and if you miss too many shots you risk taking an arrow to the knee or getting eaten.
The grind is all about pushing further into the pit and as expected each characters gets stronger from that progression. Raised stats, gold, blueprints (for new buildings) it's all there. The combat is basically using pinball and weaponized marbles to make those damage numbers go up. I'm really enjoying the different ball mechanics and combining all kinds of elemental balls to create devastating attacks and unholy fusions. I can definitely feel that Vampyre Survivors dopamine rush creeping in but I'm not doing enough damage to make my frame-rate cry just yet. That's about it happy gaming weekend Folks 🍵
I'll be playing Control Resonant. I'm only about ten hours in so far, but it's already a frontrunner for my game of the year
i’ll be playing the flickering of stutterwalker on the pro, at 30fps because the two 60fps modes are rough. also some star fox on the switch U. in hobbies outside of gaming i’ll be finishing off a revell shelby 1970 mustang.
Still playing blood of the dawn walker about to face xanthe on the 14th night and after that the home straight.
I'm picking up Dragonball Sparking Zero, I've been waiting for a decent price.
I've also been playing through as much Final Fantasy and Resident Evil as possible. Next up is Resident Evil 3 Remake (heard its not the best) and Final Fantasy 13 (heard its also not the best).
I will be continuing my second playthrough of Bioshock Infinite on the PS3.
I'm sure several other playthroughs will follow as I attempt to earn the platinum trophy.
I am also enjoying the Clash in the Clouds DLC, which I play when I decide to take a break from the main story.
Eventually I hope to begin the Burial at Sea DLC episodes to earn a 100% completion of the game.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D - I haven't touched it in a week due to being very busy, plan to resume this weekend.
Dragon Warrior (NES) - Leveling up 19 is on the menu, I also need to acquire Erdrick's Sword as well.
Angry Birds Stella (Windows Phone) - Also haven't played this in a few days. Need to get back on it to finish it.
I'm playing the seemingly random trio of Dawnwalker, Control Resonant and Overwatch
I'm still playing Trails in the Sky SC on Vita. In-game timer shows 10 hours and i'm at early chapter 2. I forgot how slow pace Trails series compare to other JRPG but i guess i need to accept it as the series charm / signature.
Have a nice weekend everyone 🍻
Absolutely nothing - I’m away on holiday! Will be back on Tuesday though, and I have Control Resonant waiting for me 🙂
Even though final stretch of Onimusha was difficult even on Action started a Carnage new game run to tide me over for a few days until Yotei dlc. Got the initial boss down on the first try but weapon/clothing/oni upgrades not carrying over is extremely off putting considering how awful the side quests and material farming is in this game.
**** me I’m up late! Or early?
Gonna finish Blue Dragon tonight on the 360 then rest of weekend going to start up Crusader of Centy on the Genesis. Been a great 3 months so far of no playstation games. My four year old and six year old have been greatly enjoying Mario Party 2 on the N64 lately.
Control Resonant, Fire Emblem, and Well Dweller. Incredible line-up! The recent release slate is giving me late 90’s/2023 flashbacks.
Wolverine, Hitman on PSVR2, and likely a bit of Splinter Cell Blacklist.
This weekend unfortunately a mix of Copilot with Excel :-/
Still making my way through the excellent Onimusha, then when I finish that, Wolverine is ready to go (then NG+ for both depending on how well Hellraiser reviews).
I've finished the FF Resonance demo and Re-installed Ghost of Yotei and will play some Legends until next week. I also hopped back in HZD Remastered for some trophy clean up last night.
Happy Gaming!
@GirlVersusGame full stop. BallxPit is special right? That music just creates an atmosphere that is hard to deny. The entire thing feels...real? Hard to explain. Careful with that one. It is 100% Balatro or Vampire Survivors. Not exactly the same addiction but if you havent, try Blue Prince. It has that 'one more try' vibe in a totally chill but deeply unique environment.
I will be continued playing one of the best fps shooter ever.the excellent doom eternal with all the dlcs.i will also continued playing fan favorite the amazing sniper elite 4 with all the dlcs.i will also continued playing the instant classic the incredible ace combat 7 skies unknown with all the dlcs.and I will be continued playing one of the best remakes ever in the phenomenal shadow of the collosus.i will be watching my pittsburgh steelers 💛🖤 play.i will be watching legendary sitcoms TV 📺 comedy shows in family matters.good times.the Jeffersons.sanford and son.different strokes.martin.the wayans brothers.married with children.and saved by the bell.word up son
I'm trying to get some sleep in but I'm finding it hard this week. I've started space marine 2 again and I'm quite enjoying the online co op. Now it's cooler (finally) the psvr2 headset is back out so its GT7 and resident evil 4 too. Have a great weekend folks 👍
Oops forgot to mention my steelseries arctis nova pro wireless headset arrived and it's sound quality absolutely destroyed the pulse 3d's across the board. Awesome headset for everything.
Still mostly on Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave on Switch 2. Will probably play WWE 2K26 on PS5 though.
Plan on doing some more Control Resonant for the weekend.
Twilight Princess: Dusk on the Retroid, Alien Trilogy and Breath of Fire 3 on my SP clone, and Sprawl Zero on the PS5. I mayyyyy grab Onimusha, but not super sure yet. Hope everyone has a great weekend, if you get one.
Along with Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, I'll be playing Agefield High: Rock the School and Samson - A Tyndalston Story.
Multiplayer wise it'll be Active Matter and Dune: Awakening.
I’ll be getting back to Blasphemous after putting it on hold for over a month 🥲
Dragon's Dogma 2
I'm currently grinding the Unmoored World in preparation for the Dark Arisen expansion.
Pokémon Pokopia: Finishing up after three weeks of surprisingly relaxing community building with a bunch of mons; I wouldn't mind another entry like this.
Splatoon Raiders will be up next in a couple of days or so; always wanted to try the series but I'm not the biggest multiplayer fan so thankfully they tailor-made this entry for folks like me, so here goes!
Platted Ball X Pit yesterday. Great game but not good for your social life. 8/10
I'll continue Hell is us this weekend. See if I can finish it before next weekend.
Hell let loose Vietnam had an update this week. I'll give the new weapons a try. This weekend I'll try to fly the chopper in an empty server.
Have a great weekend!
Something on Evercade, either continuing with Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen or Gaelco Arcade Collection 1.
Transformers' Devastation or Sea of Thieves on the big screen.
Happy weekend everyone!
Completed Plague Tale Innocence
An hour away from completing Jedi Fallen Order
But it is Grand Final Day here in Australia (Aussie Rules Footy) so downing controller now till Sunday
I've definitely hit a traffic jam when it comes to my quest to play/finish 30 games this year. Halfway there, but on the list I have Cairn / Saros / Stellar Blade to complete, Control Resonant / Onimusha WOTS to get stuck into and now there's a very well reviewed Ace Combat 8 winking at me.
In amongst all of this a couple of friends have really got me into RuneScape Dragonwilds now it's 1.0... oh and they finally added a real Earth map to Civ VII, so there's that.
Finally, assuming it's as good as it looks, Phantom Blade Zero gives me until the 28th October to get through everything I've just listed.
Please send help, and have a great weekend everyone!
Z-Com: still enjoying it. Tomorrow I'll complete the final mission. I do jave some issues with the end game being too easy (outside of sisters) and it's done a lot of Filoni-isms where a couple of cameos happen which make the galaxy feel smaller (sisters does it well but the clone commander missions not so much). I think final score will be a 7.5-8/10
Marvel's Wolverine: I'm really liking this. Just reached Madripoor. Combat reminds me of Ninja Gaiden Black 2 with enemy types, level design and layout. I'm also enjoying this Logan and the cast of characters but story is yet to fully kick in. 8/10 so far
Battlefront classic collection: were the Empire always this crap? Rebels can destroy them but when I play Empire I feel like I miss most of my blaster shots.
From Monday or Tuesday I'll start Control Resonant
Greetings fellow video game enthusiasts. I'm still on Metroid Prime 4 but have fallen off Final Fantasy XIV. I've never played an MMORPG before, and I think I just don't get it. All I seem to be doing is busy work, and the combat isn't very satisfying. Might give it one last go to see if something clicks. Happy gaming time everyone.
@TrollOfWar Roguecraft is great if you haven't tried it. And Gaelco Arcade 1 has some sleeper bangers. Love my Evercade. Also Turrican Collection has one of the coolest manuals, with a lot of historical facts and interviews.
@LikelySatan Thanks for the recommendations. I bought Gaelxo Arcade 2, because the 1st one is so good.
I also have Roguecraft DX, finished it teice already and it's very good. I just wish the Super Pockets would offer the suspend save state feature, so I could play it on the go.
I have the Turrican Collection already in my backlog.
Some of my favorite games which I finished this year were on Evercade (Cathedral, Tomb Raider III, Garou: Mark of the Wolves).
Playing a few different games this weekend.
Doom 3 as always wanted to try it as it’s not as fast paced as the newer ones and it’s more horror and jump scares.
Ferocious which is installed but not touched it yet. Looks decent for £15.99
Once Human, a F2P game but it’s strangely good with the crafting and survival aspects. It’s like Trevor Henderson, Stranger Things, Control, The Forest and a little Division had a weird baby and out popped Once Human. It’s very Janky (first time using the word to describe a game) but I’m 15hrs in and liking it.
Bit of music and Football as well.
Have a great gaming weekend Pushsquarians! 🍻
First WE I entirely have for myself in 3 weeks or so, I'm going to be real busy in Liberl, playing Trails 2nd Chapter remake. ^^
Probably some Spirits Island on Steam too
Hopefully, some fighting games on sunday with my Canadian friend ^^
Finished and got the Plat for Wolverine which was fun, but a very basic action game. Its about as deep as an evaporated puddle but fun nonetheless.
Finally started Tales Of Arise on PS5 - only a few hours in but fantastic so far. Silent Hill Townfall has arrived but im waiting to come back off hols in 2 weeks before committing, along with the rest of an evergrowing backlog so im gonna blitz the brilliant Marvel Tokon and continue to get utterly annihilated online !
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
@TrollOfWar man of taste etc.
Some hll: Vietnam matches and I may start up a few years old save on control.
Getting towards the end of Wolverine, it's decent but was hoping for way way more if I'm honest.
As soon as I finish it I'm selling it and didn't do that with the Spiderman games
This weekend I'm kinda going old school I'll be playing grand theft auto vice city and 3 definitive edition!
Vice city is a joy to play and the music is amazing GTA 3 kinda annoying to play but still good fun!
Happy weekend folks 🙏
I finished the fantastic Star Wars: Zero Company late last night, and am now about 30 minutes into Wolverine. Liking what I have played thus far, though that is obviously not very much. The game looks superb, that I can say.
Have a good gaming weekend everyone...
I jumped in, so Wolverine once it downloads on Pro.
Runescape and Vietnam. Think second dragon boss might be bugged l? Got it to two percent HP like ten minutes ago but wouldn't budge past that? Might be a mechanic I missed, will try again later.
Still struggling to find the will to game. I turn something on then instantly cant be bothered. Think of something i really want to play whilst im at work, get home, cant be bothered. Been like that for the past few months now. Got the new Fire emblem game on switch and Trails in the sky 1st chapter but once again cant be bothered to play anything. Laying a new floor in my sons room today so I might try and force myself to play something if i get done in good time but I dare say I probably wont lol. Have a great weekend everyone and play something for me 👍
Still working my way through Trails in the sky first chapter absolutely loving it so far probably going to go straight into chapter 2 after I'm done. I'll also play a little bit more of Nobody wants to die seems ok so far. I might give Runescape a try as well if I've got time.
@DrVenture69 You're off to a serious start for Spooky season, both with games and movies, you should try that Sputnik one I mentioned in the long list I posted before bed. That Welsh folk Horror is really good too and Caveat. Also the Serbian movie Vampir, you'd probably like that one.
@Northern_munkey I hope you get there, I'm finally sleeping again and it feels so good to be able to switch-off. I did enjoy our late night/early morning chats though, I'd like to say the fix was easy, it was part of being sick for weeks, everything just finally crashed and I slept for ten-hours.
@Onearmbandit I put 'a Doom game' on my possible list for Spooky season, Still Wakes the Deep is on there too as is Dredge, I'll probably play Killer Frequency again too and try Bramble. I don't think I've played a Doom game, I tried Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament recently on PS2, and read the Doom novels and seen the (really bad) Doom movie, but Dark Ages did catch my eye.
@Nyne11Tyme It's definitely getting there, I didn't think Vampyre Survivors could be as addictive as people warned, it sounded so harmless, then I noticed hours had gone by. I already have no track of time but this was something like five-hours just poofed. It introduced me to one of my favorite genres. I've also played Soulstone Survivors, Army of Ruin, Halls of Torment, Yet Another Zombie Survivor, SpiritHunters. I'm waiting for Warhammer Survivors while dreaming off a 2000AD Survivors, or an Aliens/Predator Survivor or a Robocop/Terminator Survivors. I've yet to try Balatro because that one definitely does sounds addictive. I need to try Into The Restless Ruins too, that looks unique.
@Marquez and they finally added a real Earth map to Civ VII, so there's that. - I wondered when and if they would, that was one of my favorite maps in the last game. I still haven't tried Dragonwilds yet but have been hearing good things.
@Mr-Cage Grand Theft Auto 3 is my favorite, I think the map and tight corners probably aren't helping you or the many factions lighting you up for driving past. Vice City is my second favorite, a big part of that is due to V-Rock and Flash FM. It's a shame they didn't remaster Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories. If even just for all of that extra music, which is really good.
@GirlVersusGame thanks. I managed to get a few hours in. Grand prix today so my friend is coming round to watch it live and have lunch with us. Enjoy your weekend 👍
@GirlVersusGame Dragonwilds is just... simple survival-lite fun. Also has a Vanilla WoW vibe to it, without the depth of lore/mechanics.
@Northern_munkey My money was on Kimi Antonelli until he hit that wall on Turn One. We aren't there but the guys are watching it, I would have liked to see him go further. He's a really good driver, young too. I put it down to track conditions and grip, they should have let him limp back. Hopefully Baku doesn't bite again but it probably will, it's a tough track. Singapore too but Baku is extremely unpredictable, Monaco is my favorite. I promised myself I'd never talk cars/Formula 1 on here because it's one thing watching it on television and it's another being there/etc so have a good weekend and enjoy the sleep too you definitely earned it.
I've heard of that game it's made by Gaijin/the same Developer as War Thunder so they definitely have the resources to make great games. Just full disclosure, they say they are neutral but it's often kind of fifty fifty, if that bothers you, I know it does for some. For me a game is a game and I game to get away from the obvious, they've made numerous statements since then. I knew it was on Steam but didn't know it was on console.
Hopefully one day PS5 or PS6 sees Escape from Tarkov, that's probably my favorite, the handling and modelling is very realistic. I've remembered to press-check the chambers of my own firearms just from playing it and understood more about air friction too (aerodynamic drag) I have to factor for it more with Kalashnikovs because I use a standard 7.62x39mm round and the short/blunt profile means I get significantly higher air friction compared to more modern 5.56mm high-velocity rounds (Steyr AUG, FAMAS etc) so what I'm saying is by playing Escape From Tarkov I'm improving my actual real-life shooting skills, they've even modeled penetration correctly. I've never seen a game get it so right. I can see it doing really well on console if they can get the machine to run it properly.
@GirlVersusGame I've just literally bought active matter on the ps5..extraction shooter that looks a bit like counterstrike meets control meets day z...I'll play this later after the F1.
@playstation1995 doom eternal is one of my favourite fps ever made id put it with halo goldeneye and half life 2 as my favorite
@Dan12836666 yes definitely.doom eternal is such a excellent game.doom games are one of my favorite franchises. Word up son
I haven't quite figured it out yet. SMT V Vengeance was outstanding. I finished my play through on Wednesday night.
I tried getting back into Trails in the Sky FC. Even for a Trails game, the pacing is glacial.
I will try a few today to see what sucks me in. A little bit more Sky FC and perhaps Raidou, Castlevania (from the Dominus collection), or something else off the wall.
I'm in a bit of a dilemma with Onimusha: WTS. I have the steelbook on the shelf still in plastic. I played through the second part of the demo to get whatever unlockable, and I kind of hate it.
It's very linear, and the protagonist will not shut up. I'm not asking for an open world, just an area to explore, keys to find, puzzles to solve, just like the first three games - and when there is a puzzle, don't blurt out the answer 5 seconds after I get to the area or zoom in over my shoulder to show me what to do. The constant one-liners are over-the-top and grating. And that's just the demo.
My dilemma is - I could play it and see if it gets better, or I could just sell it to get my money back (or honestly just sit on it and see what the value does).
Anyone else see those issues in Onimusha, or am I just being too cantankerous?
Have a great weekend everybody.
I have the plat in Wolverine so I'll leave that for now and go back to Onimusha.
Still need to start Dawnwalker at some point too.
At this rate I'll be skipping Phantom Blade Zero.
Have fun, all! ✌️
@playstation1995 definetly 1 million percent agree there
Played since last week
Keeper - Finally got around to this game, and Im glad I did. Love these kind of games, or maybe we should call it an experience perhaps as its a bit limited in game play mechanics, but at the same time its more than a walking simulator. Also, you dont walk the whole game which is imo a great change of pace. Its all presented in an awesome gameworld! Its a very good looking game, fantastic art direction imo. Always amazed by the artist behind designs like these. It was also a nice story and I really enjoyed the journey from start to end. Nice and easy platinum trophy as a bonus too 🙂
Marvels Wolverine - So, I went in to this game expecting fart gas trails all over and boring combat and poor level design but after playing two levels I'm having a lot of fun. Maybe all that comes later... So far its been a high production action game that I've really enjoyed. Maybe it wont be the best Insomniac game I've played but they've made some very good games so thats ok...The game is so far very linear, but that doesnt have to be a bad thing. I like is as it fits the story and character and making a game open world just for the sake of it doesnt automatically make the game better. Regarding the combat, its Wolverine we're playing and he fights with his claws. There would have been more complaints I think if he used guns and gadgets and stuff like that. Its possible the combat gets boring over time but I cant see Insomniac doing it differently either. Its bloody and gory and so far pretty fun. So, all in all a very good start and I'm really looking forward to playing more 🙂
Have a great weekend!
Really enjoying Date Everything! on PS Plus at the moment. It’s such a fun game!
I’ve also had The Witcher 3 since the PS4 days but, for some reason, I’ve never managed to get much beyond the beginning. I’ve upgraded to the PS5 version and downloaded the DLC ready for Tuesday’s update.
Hopefully everything works with my original PS4 disc. Going to make a real effort to stick with it this time!
@GirlVersusGame Vice city would be my favorite I remember I got it about 2 week before it's release…
Back then the stores didn't care about release dates for games they just put them out on sale.
I strolled into the game store late one night with my friend and there it was!
Lucky he had enough cash on him to get two copies and I paid him back the day later!
We were the two bosses among all our friends for about a month as the game was sold out everywhere for a good while.
Happy memories 🥲
@Mr-Cage I strolled into the game store late one night with my friend and there it was!
I’m running around fighting the hiss in Control:Resonat and having an amazing time. As a cleanser, I’m going to be wrapping up Lake - before it leaves PS Plus.
@GirlVersusGame Yeah it was great back then in those days getting games early same thing happened with metal gear sons of liberty and snake eater I picked both them but very early aswell!
A couple of my older friends worked in GameStop or whatever it was called back then we all got to play Tekken tag tournament on playstation 2 months before release of the actual console in Europe because there store somehow got a Japanese PS2 console and copy of the game they had it constantly playing on a tv behind the counter.
Great times
@GirlVersusGame I played Doom a lot in the 90s then RE held my attention for a very long time and didn’t bother with Doom at all till this week 😂.
Just reached Ruan in Trails in The Sky: Second Chapter. Now it is time to make the round in the city talking to everyone and start the sidequests.
Playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon as well. I think I am about to return to Kamurocho. The game is really good, packed of enjoyable content.
Finally, Alan Wake II and God of War: Sons of Sparta. Somewhat challenging but good games.
I wish the best and most relaxing weekend to you all!!
@Mr-Cage We were just talking about maps/manuals for Grand Theft Auto so I popped the first game, the second and then Undead Nightmare, all for science. The special edition for PS4 had two maps/two discs, both of the other games had manuals and maps. I just popped Tekken Tag for science too because you got me curious and the manual is full of fighting combos too.
Behind it is a twenty-six year old Tekken 3 store display that recently ended up in one of my hauls. I don't play fighting games because I'm useless at them but did needed the original day one copy for PS2 so I could complete the launch day selection. TimeSplitters, SSX etc. I think Unreal Tournament and Silent Scope count, I just added those. It had an incredible line-up, I think I have that Dead or Alive 2 game too (checks) it's there. I wish they'd remaster the SSX games they still play great on PS2 but imagine how great they'd been on nextgen. It just doesn't feel like there are crazy games like that still being made, or I can't find them. I've tried all of the SSX games and that 2012 one was far too serious. Tricky was so much better, I can't un-hear 'It's Tricky to rock a rhyme, to rock a rhyme that's right on time It's Tricky'.
Going to be trying to finish up the DLC for Borderlands 4. Other than that, maybe a little Black Ops 7 MP. Hope everyone has a great time gaming and as always, no rage quitting! 😉
@Northern_munkey Hey man. How is Active Matter? I’ve had my eye on that for a long time. Is it worth full price or wait for a sale? Any thoughts are appreciated.
@DETfaninATL I'll let you know. Not tried it yet but it's installed.
I’m currently doing a platinum run on MGS4 remaster on the good old PRO. Plays like an absolute dream and loving it. The big boss emblem is filling me with dread though and I’m going to leave that for last. Enjoy the weekend gamer guys and gals
@GirlVersusGame It's Tricky Tricky Tricky TRICKY!!!!
@Mr-Cage I just noticed your ange mask profile picture… Cundy is diabolical man 😆
@DETfaninATL I almost rage quit trying to catch a fish in Crimson Desert, in the end I jumped into the water then after about half of an hour managed to catch it with my hands instead of that janky fishing stick. Now I have to catch a wild goat because apparently this game also has a Farm Simulator mechanic. When they told Sammy 'it's not an RPG' I did 'hm' but now I believe them. I can't give it a label, nor can I find this goat.
@GirlVersusGame are you going for the platinum in CD?. The trophy guides say between at least 200-300 hours but seeing as you are strolling around (taking the Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture approach ☺️) I’m guessing it’ll be more like 1000 hours for you 😁. Love the idea though and wish I had the time to do stuff like that because some games these days are truly beautiful 🥂
@GamingGod I haven't gone for a platinum since November. I kind of overdid it and coupled with chronic jetlag had to stop, everything shutdown and I couldn't tell day from night. Now I'm mainly just playing to play. I still like trophies I've just found that it's possible to enjoy the 'living in the now' part more than the end of the journey. Before then I'd been treating games as task completion. I have what's known as a kind of permanent Anhedonia and was using trophies as a way to feel that completion/job well done. Psychologically speaking that was a bad idea, it meant pushing twice as hard until I did drop. This approach is healthier, it makes the now/experience the real trophy and it took walking simulators for me to realize that.
I have no PSN friends anymore either so technically I'm the only one who sees that feed, it's very out of sight and out of mind. There was probably a FOMO there before of 'what if someone sees these unfinished games', and there were six-hundred people who could. Overnight that care went out the window, along with all of those people, I haven't seen another person/profile/played non-solo since since February 2022. It's very freeing to just pick up a game without having to check a trophy guide first. I just checked Crimson Desert and you won't believe the percentage, I'm shocked myself.
3% after four-hundred hours, I haven't even really started the story. I never even registered the no trophies popping as I played because I was so wrapped up in all of that 'now'.
I think if you did you might get bored. I have no actual track of time, as in Plus+ tells me the month and this thread tells me it's the weekend. I never needed the days of the week before so this approach is kind of normal. I'm still teaching myself how to tell the time, so I might have the time to do it, I just don't register it. Everything has always been 'now'. I'm trying as they say to better myself and Rome wasn't built in a day. If any of that sounds negative it's not, I'm very grateful for my life/time, I might not be able to register the latter but I do respect it nonetheless.
Playing graveyard keeper 2 this weekend. Streaming onto the portal. Stuck in a premier inn but the ultimate wifi has run it flawlessly the last few days. Impressed by how solid it’s running and the game is great.
Playing Silent Hill Townfall (pretty early in, puzzles are not my strong suit), Death Howl, Helldivers 2 and I might start Mewgenics.
It’s all about Control: Resonant this weekend for me.
@4fold I wondered if you were still there this weekend, it sounded like you were on desert island. How are you finding the game? The first one was an unexpected gem for me, I think I left it so long that most of the DLCs has been released. I find it hard to picture the game without zombie automation, or a tavern. It took it coming to Plus+ until I saw people talking about it and then the grind seemed to keep the numbers down. It looks like the new game launched with automation, I was looking for my first Tower Defense to try too and never expected Graveyard Keeper 2 to implement that mechanic. Mewgenics and BallxPit have been taking up a lot of time, I doubt they removed the grind for Graveyard Keeper 2. I'm waiting for apple trees to grow in Crimson Desert, he's too fatigued to sleep again so it's taking even longer.
@GirlVersusGame
It’s a great game that builds on the original. I’ve not even gotten my first zombie yet and it’s still fun, but I can see automation will shortly be extremely welcome (apple trees bear fruit in a few in game days btw lol).
I’ve only done one fight. It’s not yet my favourite element but I haven’t got my own zombie team yet. I would have preferred more of a dungeon diving system, similar to something like Core Keeper (which I highly recommend), but it gives definite progress points, and does add something different to just the endless building progression. Definitely recommended.
@4fold I forgot all about Core Keeper but try Moonlighter and that felt very Graveyard Keeper with a lot more stamina. I did wonder if they added more dungeons, they were lacking in the first game. They probably don't want players loading up on loot or it might devalue the grind. I'll definitely get around it to eventually. I left the apple growing to nature and tried my first cart delivery/trade instead. I thought it would be automated, it's not and that cart handles like a wardrobe on wheels. I keep getting fined for vandalism or getting bounties because they went under the wheels as in I'm pretty sure they jumped in-front of me, I would have seen them. Edit: There's damage too, my wheels just fell off, I'll try apple farming again.
Edit: I need to fertilize and spray crops first, it really is Farm Simulator.
I am almost exclusively playing Midnight Suns with all DLC. It is a long-lasting game and I am having a ball playing it. I am proud of my self to give this game a chance. It immediately paid off.
If time allows I´ll continue playing Dragon Quest VII Reimagined on steamdeck and Ys Origin on NSW lite. On ps5 not much gaming lately, just some demos here and there. was looking forward to W3 Remastered when it drops, but I´m really enjoying games I´m currently playing so will try to finish them first and check W3R later.
Whatever you´re playing, hope you have a great time!
@GamingGod He's on a generational run some might say my brother!
Fingers crossed it continues for spurs next match back!
I'm a united fan go mad if there first win was against us but it would be typical haha 😂
@GirlVersusGame LOL. I always stick that at the end of my ‘what are you playing this weekend?’ posts because while I’m not necessarily a rage QUITTER, I do frequently get ticked off to the point of cussing with difficult bosses, stupid mechanics and trash deaths in a lot of games. So it’s more a funny reminder for myself than anything else. Good luck with the goat hunt! Hope it doesn’t make you cuss too much! 😉
@DETfaninATL The goat has been a success, now I'm waiting for my apple trees to grow. I'm sure I did rage-quit once I just can't remember why or what the game was. I've named him Jeremy since I was listening to Pearl Jam at the time (we're having an unofficial 90's night in the music thread) and goats probably like jam. I think I don't rage-quit because I enjoy the ordeal too much and the struggle. I think different people handle pain in different ways and I quite like it, which is probably why I love Fromsoft games. Don't worry about the cussing I've never uttered a word of profanity in my life, except to say 'fudge the police', I was twelve and someone tricked me into saying it. Since then nothing, it's a big no no offline. Everyone else around me does, I've never been allowed.
@DETfaninATL active matter is pretty cool. It reminds me of most games like escape from tarkov etc but with quite a few of its own ideas. It's quite hard core in terms of gunplay (it's no CoD) and it's a bit confusing at first but it's fairly easy to navigate soon. Looks very nice and plays smoothly on my pro. Yeah I think I'm going to sink some time into this one.
Silent Hill 2, it's stressful in a way no other game is.
When I've needed to relax I've been going back to Elden Ring, which says a lot.
I am playing Symphony of the night as well! Couldn't resist the sale and ...it's sweet and short. Up there with the best of all times.
@GirlVersusGame I also usually like to walk. I had to shut Crimson Desert off due to the ridiculous clown show that obtaining the elemental magic was. And apparently glitched as well. I did do a ton of walking because I like to look around, and hate to miss stuff.
And all my gaming at the moment is the excellent Trails in The Sky FC. I always was intrigued by the Falcom games, and they put it on sale. Highly recommended.
@Othatguy I haven't seen elemental magic yet, I forgot it was in the tree. I've just been poking everything with the spear of righteousness, I used the gear that shoots a murder of crows at people (that's the actual name for a bunch of crows, a murder) it's mainly all flat damage and crows. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Trails, other than Persona 5 and Eiyuden Chronicle I haven't played any other JRPGs unless the Final Fantasy with the car counts.
@GirlVersusGame I like a long, involved JRPG. And this fits the bill for me. As for Crimson Desert, I think it's remarkable in many ways, but the developers seem to have bit off more than they could chew. The elemental magic was ridiculously long and involved, and I had to shut it off because, of all things, I couldn't open a door. After hundreds of hours. And I dislike games that are so utterly inscrutable that you cannot play them without a guide.
@Northern_munkey awesome man and thanks for the heads up. I’ve liked what I’ve seen if it and it sounds like it will be right up my alley. Might just pick it up this week.
@DETfaninATL 👍
@Othatguy I think it's biggest problem is localization. The actual narrative/dialogue is fine and the choreography in some of those scenes (combat) is fantastic. It's the descriptions of the quests/mechanics where things start to stumble. The mechanics themselves are fine, trying to figure them out isn't. A perfect example was (more apples) a quest to harvest apples on a farm, I thought they meant to take the apples off of the trees. So I did and it flagged my action as theft, which then meant having to unalive those witnesses until I realized my reputation dropped significantly (awful system, I want to do bad things) so I reloaded a save.
What the game actually meant was for me to highlight where the marker was (while on the map) then press triangle for details, R1 my way over to 'missions' and send my comrades to do it. Doing it that way made me second guess my own language skills. Then there are the puzzles, I had to Youtube every one of them and so many comments on those videos said the same thing about wanting to knock the stuffing out of whoever created those puzzles.
I put that more down to the culture of the Studio. South Korea likes it's puzzles and brain-teasers and while those puzzles might go down really well there, they didn't for me and for many other people. Everything else has been fine, but for one buggy bounty quest. Eventually his body respawned at a travel-gate so it's no big deal. I do think you get back what you put in, whether people are prepared to put hundreds of hours in? that's another question. I'm treating it like a solo/offline MMo too, I think that's why they told Push Square it's not an RPG, there are so many simulator mechanics. How many games give you a portable bird feeder? They do things I've never seen before, I'm frequently finding so many new mechanics and systems, I'm going to try to figure out and unlock Imbue Element today, I quite like the idea of my spear doing frost attacks too.
I started Control Resonance but felt like I needed to finish Control first. Glad I did as things make more sense now in Resonance. Plus that Ashtray Maze was worth the price of admission. Wow.
@Nei I want to replay SotN before Belmont's Curse comes out in a couple of weeks. I only played it for the first time a couple of years ago, but it's amazing how well it holds up for a nearly 30 year old game. Belmont's Curse almost looks like a remake
@GirlVersusGame I think all of your points are valid, I wondered if a lot of the mechanics were a result of the developers MMORPG history, as I have never played any. But I think they just like unnecessary complications. Must be a Korean thing. I would say I figured out half of the puzzles, but some of them were just ridiculous. I salute their ambitions, but was disappointed in the execution of said ambition. My backlog is so huge that I just shut it off, and moved on to one of the dozen unplayed games in the queue. I may start over one day, but I have never been so annoyed at the way a game was set up. A ten for ambition and five for the actual end result.
@Othatguy I just did a puzzle that was right out of Squid Games, it too is South Korean. It was the only puzzle I've found where I naturally knew what to do, and that's because of a South Korean television show. It was just like 'Red Light Green Light' except there was no shooting, the puzzle reset when I was spotted. They even gave the statue glowing eyes like the doll in the show. It's a shame all of the puzzles weren't that fun. Crouching made it even easier, it was a puzzle about patience. Or futility if you have drift on your sticks, he needs to stop dead still each time.
Still playing the excellent Onimusha. Had my first proper wall with Greater Nue by eventually got the better of him. Enjoy the weekend all
@Rangers420 Couldn't pass on this Trails for half price. Have always wanted to try either Trails or Ys, and this seemed like perfect place to jump in. Having a grand old time, and am going to scour the bargains for one of the Ys games, and when the price comes down I will unquestionably get the second chapter.
@DrVenture69 Been getting thatSymphony itch again for a while, and scratching it was just as satisfying as I remembered. Curious about Belmont's Curse, but not sold on the aesthetic yet - I'll wait for reviews. If the Castlevania lot reckon it's as special as it appears to be, I'm in. There's a demo coming soon too.
Wish they'd go back to pixel art for both Castlevania and Metroid, mind. Dread was solid, but that dread-ful art style meant I never quite fell for it.
@GirlVersusGame Well I have never seen one second of Squidgame, and the elemental magic quests were interminably long and full of annoying environmental puzzles. Annoying enough, when coupled with an apparently glitched door, to make me shut it off. I probably had around 400 hours in, and I might just go back and continue with the one spell I got. Fantastic ideas bogged down by inscrutable puzzles. They really needed someone to edit some of impossible to figure out bull@#$%, and stay on message. There was a lot to like there, and just as much to really dislike.
Replaying Bloodborne because sp00ky seas0n is incoming
@CWill97 That's a good choice for Spooky season, I've put Still Wakes The Deep, Dredge and Bramble on mine, possibly a Doom game too and possibly another playthrough of Killer Frequency.
@Nei i know what you mean, it looks more like the last Prince of Persia. I think Well Dweller strikes a nice balance between pixel art and cartoony (I’m having a lot of fun with that too, nice gate-ing/progression)
I've been playing Disney's G-Force recently, I'm hoping to have earned the game's platinum by this Monday night.
My next game should be Trover Saves the Universe, I need to plat it fast so I can return it to Amazon for a full refund.
