Re: Dragon's Dogma 2 Tops an Impressive 3 Million Sales

I’ve been tempted to buy this since its release but I’ve had some amazing self-restraint. Playing Days Gone, DQXI S and a replay of Yakuza: Like A Dragon has kept me busy. But I don’t know if I can resist much longer 😭😭 And I haven’t even bought Baldur’s Gate 3 yet. Too many great games nowadays 😍😍😍

Re: Sly Cooper, Tomb Raider, Star Wars Revealed as Surprise PS2 Games on PS Plus Premium

CWill97

PS2 games on Premium is a great step forward. But I’d love it if they’d just let me download the PS3 games on premium instead of streaming. For some reason, every time I stream, it lags so hard. My internet is fine with non-PS3 games. But damn, it’s hard to play GoW when you have to button mash and it doesn’t recognize you destroying your fingertips because of the lag 😭😭😭

Replaying Yakuza: Like A Dragon. I was itching so bad to replay Infinite Wealth. But I want to get the PS4 platinum of it (already got the PS5 platinum) a year or two later. There may not be another game out for a bit in the franchise so I want to hold off on a 2nd playthrough until news is announced

Happy weekend everyone!

Dragon Quest XI S: Definitive Edition

I am FINALLY almost through all of Act III. What I have left is: 5th Wheel Trial thingy, pretty much all of the evil Tickington stuff (I’m missing 3 Pastwords so yay, gotta find them ), 3 final costumes left (Rab/Serena/Jade), the actual final boss of Act III then the secret boss. Not sure I have much else to do. Already completed all of Drustan’s 5 trials, most quests are complete, etc. Oh I’m saving the last puff puff for the platinum trophy because… uhhh, well…. Puff puff puff puff pufffff 😈😈😈😈

Funny thing (to me) is I played DQXI (original) back in like 2018 maybe. Could’ve been 2020 tbh. Anyways, I reached Sniflheim, completed its arc then decided it just didn’t click with me. I tried my damnest to love it but it wasn’t hitting with me. Fast forward to 2024 and I gave DQXI S a proper second try. Absolutely adore it now.

Just a reminder to folks that not every game clicks the first time you play it. Take some time (or years) off and retry it later. Maybe you’ll end up loving it! Have a great weekend, everyone!!!

Re: Square Enix Layoffs Underway in US and Europe as Restructure Begins

SE has a budgeting/marketing problem. Their expectations are unrealistic. If they keep this up, it’s only going to lead to more lay-offs. I can’t imagine what huge expectations they will put on DQXII whenever that releases in the future.

I hope SE can rebound and adjust their strategy because they’re in the top 3 for my favorite game studios (probably #1 or #2 with Sega). Some of their smaller, niche titles are brilliant.

Re: Shift Up Director Puts Stellar Blade, Sony Costume Conspiracy to Bed

Why not just make the “modified outfits” original style a variation/secondary option? I don’t personally care about it but I could see why people feel misled and slighted. If I was one of those people, I’d probably be hesitant to pre-order a game from them a second time around.

I bought the game because the combat looked like a blast. I was not disappointed.

I’m playing what probably everyone else is playing… DQXI S

Jokes aside, I’m working through Act 2. Loving it again. I’m playing 1 Act at a time so I took a big break from it after Act 1. Funnily enough, I played this originally years ago (not the Definitive Edition) and didn’t enjoy it. Bought the Definitive Edition and got hooked. Funny how games sometimes don’t stick the first time

Re: Japan Sales Charts: Stellar Blade Has a Slightly Disappointing PS5 Debut, Eiyuden Chronicle Sells Best on Switch

CWill97

I bought Stellar Blade as a pre-order physical release. Well worth it for me at least.

Absolutely loved the game. Its hardest fight was the last battle by far (which it should be). But it was a lot of fun. Combat is fluid and not overly complex. One aspect was clearly influenced by “Spartan Rage” in GoW which was fine 😂 Idc about the censorship stuff because I wasn’t interested in this game for the horny horny 😈😈 aspect. I kinda liked that there weren’t 100s of characters in it as well. Focused mainly on the 3 protagonists which worked very well. You got enough depth with all of them to understand their views and personality. Story wasn’t anything revolutionary. But not every developer has A+++ story tellers. Still no excuse, but whatever

Only major flaw (to me) is any swimming section where you had to push boards in the water. Or just water sections in general. Some terrible controls would get Eve stuck. It really isn’t a major flaw but just something that was terrible to deal with It also sucked when I’d fall somewhere and die that I couldn’t just use a WB pump to respawn at that spot I fall from. Minor gripe though

Overall, loved my first play through of it. Waiting for NG+ because they’ll eventually release DLC. Plus more suits.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for May 2024 Announced

CWill97

Absolutely fine with this month. Tunic will be near the top of my list. Ghostrunner I could never get into. I’m not big on first person games for the most part tho. So I doubt I try the sequel. I’m just happy I have something here to play :’)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 526

CWill97

Stellar Blade. Just beat the first “non-prologue” boss. Combat feels so smooth IMO. Game looks gorgeous. Absolutely loving my experience with it. Also, super glad there’s a second play through needed for the platinum. It definitely seems like a game I’d want to replay again

Re: Stellar Blade (PS5) - A Stellar PS5 Debut Destined to Become a Fan Favourite

CWill97

So an 8 here usually means a 9 for me. Only concern is if the English dub is actually bad or not. I don’t mind subs though. I’m pretty lenient with dubs (with Yakuza being the exclusion) so I’ll give both a try

Regardless, pumped for this! The combat and visuals are what drew me in. If the story isn’t “all-world”/top notch, so be it. I just want to have fun after playing some heavy hitter narratives

Re: Despite Hype, Analyst Says Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth 'Underperforming'

CWill97

Rebirth was fantastic to me. But coming out in quick succession versus other giant JRPGs didn’t help. Most gamers don’t have the time for two brand new 100 hour games back to back like that. I thibk Rebirth will have a second wind down the line whether they do another DLC ep, expand on Queen’s Blood or when it’s added to PS+
