UK dev Firesprite’s been working on Until Dawn 2 for at least four years already, according to Stranger Things actor Dacre Montgomery, who’s part of the cast.
Writing on Instagram, he said he joined the PS5 exclusive project in 2022 – although presumably the title was in pre-production long before then.
The studio’s previous game, Horizon: Call of the Mountain, launched in 2023, so this all lines up. The final product’s due out in 2027.
Dacre says he’s been “floored by the commitment of those who’ve poured their lives in[to] this world for the last many, many years and [I] am so excited it’s coming to a console near you”.

We still don’t know a lot about the game, but we do know it’ll feature a ghost hunting group from a paranormal YouTube channel called Dead True.
After signing a deal with a TV network, the crew head off to a tropical island to shoot their first high budget production – and presumably that’s where they find out there may be more to the supernatural than the smoke-and-mirrors that earned them their big break.
It’s a fun premise, although I do wonder whether the ship has sailed a little bit on Until Dawn. I think one big problem with this is that original dev Supermassive has basically spent the last few years flooding the market with its Dark Pictures titles.
But it’s true that the studio’s never really outdone its work on Until Dawn, despite trying over and over again. I suppose the hope here is that Firesprite, with Sony’s budget behind it, can fully recapture that magic.
