by After just a brief look at new The Witcher 3 DLC Songs of the Past during Gamescom Opening Night Live this week, CD Projekt Red has shared a much longer portion of gameplay from the DLC in one of its Red Streams.
The gameplay has been clipped out and uploaded as a 13-minute segment, which you can watch above. It appears a new quest called A Bed of Thorns will introduce the DLC to you, and then you can play around in Ledden, the new area in the expansion. There's also a cutscene featured of a dinner scene with some new characters.

Developed by Fools Theory, the Songs of the Past expansion launches for the PS5 version of the game in 2027. Before then, The Witcher 3 Remastered comes out on 29th September, so cancel all those new games you were planning on trying.

Tempted to watch. But I’ll wait on seeing anything as I want it to be totally fresh. I know I’m getting this no matter what!
This is insane. There are a lot of games coming out in 2026 that don't look as good as this.

@Mr-Cage I don't believe the new dlc will be free, just the remaster upgrade and the old dlcs
That's not the PS5 expansion.
Going by the button prompts it's the Xbox or more likely PC version.
I'd have just written The Witcher 3 Expansion.
Always find it weird on this site that they put the PS5 game or PS5 DLC in the headline for multiplatform stuff, it's not incorrect but it sort of implies it's the only platform it's available for.
@Toilet_Goat That's fair enough if that's the case isn't it.
I own the complete edition years but never played past the starting area hopefully I can do better in the newer version when it drops.
@Mr-Cage Yeah this Expansion isn't going to be free. I think a big part of them giving the remaster and old expansions away for free is to get as many people playing again and tempted to buy the new one.
@Bot_Bot_69 Well the footage is indistinguishable from what it will look like on PS5. I don't think anyone is under any illusion it is Playstation exclusive. I feel like this is something you are inferring rather than Liam has implied.
@BearsEatBeets It's one of the more misleading instances of an annoying habit they have. That footage was captured on PC which looks quite different (extensive RT and path-tracing are PC only).
@BearsEatBeets It's still an amazing deal in fairness I'm sure lots will pay for it and play though again hopefully I will for the first time!
Also to your point to the other bloke most gameplay trailers do be done on PC as it will look the best the fable gameplay footage from yesterday was also fully PC.
Finding playstation footage would probably be impossible considering they didn't release any haha 😂
@Weez Fair enough, indistinguishable was probably the wrong word but practically every game is shown on high-end PCs. At the end of the day the gameplay being shown is a few graphical tweaks away from being what you will see when you play. It's more about seeing the world and characters.
I just don't think it's something to get caught up on.
@Mr-Cage I hope you enjoy it. White Orchard can certainly be a tiny barrier to the rest of the game, but it's a nice taster for what awaits on the other side and it only improves after that
@Toilet_Goat Yeah I never really gave the game much of a chance in fairness I always started it and soon after started playing something else.
Which is stupid really because it's obviously a really good game I'd like if I got stuck into.
Definitely now it's getting the upgrade I have no excuses now!

@Weez Agreed - I'd be playing this on PS if it wasn't for the modding support and having bought the original on PC (don't think you can cross-platform upgrade).
I do find the subtitles annoying though. I game on both, playing different types of games on each, and have to constantly look up whether or not a game is multi-plat.
Started the ps5 version start of this month kicking myself lol got the platinum and just finished hearts of stone.Think il wait too play blood and wine with the enhancements.
Is it just me or just the frame rate look rough, even if this is PC/Xbox? (It may well just be me).
I'm a bit concerned they'll overstep a bit, and put in all this graphical overhauling that impacts the smooth frame rate it has now / breaks the game. I love the games CD put out, but their patches can be a bit explosive.
CD Project Red makes DLC better than most full games out there. Even better, they have earned plenty of good will by all their pro-consumer moves, the most recent being giving away two fantastic pieces of DLC and a remastered version of Witcher 3 to anyone who owns the base game, even in cases with Nintendo Switch where the remaster is on Switch 2. Amazing.

I’d watch this but it’s already a day one buy. I can’t wait for this to come out. From September 2026 through the whole of 2027, gamers are feasting. GTA VI, Wolverine, God of War Laufey, Control Resonant, Silent Hill Townfall, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Persona 4 Revival, Final Fantasy turn based, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, Stranger Than Heaven, and much, much, much and much more. We’re all about to be broke on money and time
I watched one-minute of the footage when BearEatsBeets posted it this week, it's The Witcher and I have full faith in the Studio. They could say they were making DLC about farming turnips and I'd still buy it and play it day one. In my eyes they can do no wrong.
