It had to happen, and sure enough, it is: the first PS5 game delay out of September 2026 has been shared. Valor Mortis, from Ghostrunner developer One More Level, revealed less than a week ago it was releasing on 24th September 2026.
That meant it would release on the same day as Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush, Control Resonant, and Silent Hill: Townfall, and only one day before Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
The team has recognised this wouldn't be a good idea and has delayed the launch of Valor Mortis to 13th October 2026.

Since the original release date was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, it had to lock that date in "weeks in advance", at which point it looked pretty clear. It appears many other publishers thought the same, as the day has become incredibly crowded.
Speaking to Game File, publishing head Blake Rochkind said it was decided the release date would be changed as soon as Control Resonant announced it would be launching on the same day. At the time its initial release date was decided internally, "there were so many unknowns", according to Rochkind. "This was before Sony State of Play, before Xbox Showcase, before Nintendo Direct, before Summer Games Fest."
Now, it'll be 13th October 2026 for Valor Mortis. That's the same day as Planet Zoo 2, and two days before Castlevania: Belmont's Curse. With the promising Soulslike removed from September 2026 now delayed, here's what the end of the month now looks like:
- Dune: Awakening — 22nd September
- Silent Hill: Townfall — 24th September
- Control Resonant — 24th September
- Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush — 24th September
- Onimusha: Way of the Sword — 25th September
- Gothic 2 Complete Classic — 29th September
- Minecraft Dungeons 2 — 29th September
Still pretty crowded, right? I expect there'll still be more movement to come for these PS5 titles.

Honestly put Silent Hill Townfall in October.... y'know the spooky month.
Not sure this slight delay will have the desired outcome. Either pull it forward to July/August or push to 2027.
I mean, technically Phantom Blade Zero was the first game delayed to October, but it's still a good move to try a spread these games out.
Arguably Valor Mortis is the smallest of the releases within that time period, and it stood a strong chance of being completely ignored as a consequence. It still does in October, truth be told, as people will have so much choice in such a short period of time, and then of course there's GTA 6 to contend with. Personally, I'd have delayed it to early next year...
@Fiendish-Beaver Don't know why but I think the game that will suffer the most sales lost in this blood both with Control, don't get me wrong I want it to pop off to help out Remedy.
Love too see it
Too many games. Not enough time.
Let’s get a couple more of those, please.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is the only September game for me, but that list is crazy.
As I've said in a previous comment, from a sales point of view how is overcrowding September and February any better than launching closer to GTA6...
Congrats to them for finding the courage to stand out from the crowd
@Oram77 I agree, for whatever reason Remedy never sells spectacularly. You add on all of these releases and GTA and I’d be shocked if it pulled high numbers.
Halloween on September 5th still baffles me, you'd think they would to release around...oh I don't know... HALLOWEEN?!
@Shinnok789 It's ironically come full circle where it's probably better to release closer to GTA6.
@Oram77 It almost feels like Remedy is doomed to release great games that won't sell well for numerous reasons.
Nothing wrong with delaying and taking a bit more time.
I really enjoyed the demo that released last year.
October’s getting busy, too
@Pat_trick @Odium I actually have a lot of faith in the Max Panye remake, as people have been asking for that for YEARS.
We need games sooner, rather than later! I’d buy more games if they would just come out during the summer, rather than September and October—back to school season, and insanely packed. Games will be left behind…
I'll be getting Control day one, @Oram77. I absolutely loved the first game...
@Fiendish-Beaver @Oram77 Control’s my game too. With this crazy September, I’m going for Control, Fire Emblem, and Orbitals… and Dawnwalker and Silent Hill are big maybes that I may try to get too on the basis that I’ve reduced my gaming budget considerably this year, but I’m still concerned I won’t have the time to play three games in September, let alone five with other games coming in October (I mean, how can I say no to Castlevania and Final Fantasy…). Still need to discuss with the wife though. Sorry, Onimusha. Lol.
Personally, I don’t think pushing this one to October makes its life any easier. It’s just as thick of a month. It’s an insane two months. Valor Mortis though has a unique niche, so maybe it’s safer than we think, but I dunno. There’s not really a lot of first person or Souls games upcoming.
I sort of dislike that GTA is basically creating a mess where all these games are going to be competing, minimizing sales for all of them while GTA’s sales will just ignore it all. GTA is sort of bad for the industry at large in how it’s siphoning business away from so many good games and forcing them to siphon an audience from each other.
Phantom Blade 0 already got pushed from September to October. It's just gonna be a really busy end of year.
Probably a good idea unless everyone delays to October 😂
