Re: Remedy Is Aiming for Excellence with Max Payne Remake

CWill97

I never played the originals but I’ll be there for the remakes. A lot of people complain about remakes, but it lets players who missed out on the original games give it a go. Are some remakes/remasters absolutely unnecessary? Yes. But I’m down to play this

Re: GOTY Nominee Black Myth: Wukong Bags PS Plus Premium Demo

CWill97

@riceNpea to Sony, it’s a “feature” they believe is a selling point/another appeal that, in all honesty, should just be readily available for everyone. So I agree with you 100%. I don’t know a soul who upgraded to PS+ Premium for demos 😂😂

Demos let people who are on the fence play it to figure out if it’s for them so it should only help sales. But maybe Sony is at the viewpoint that people who’d normally buy the game may change their mind in the opposite direction. I don’t agree with this if that’s their line of thinking. Most likely, they want to justify the price of PS+ Premium

Re: All The Game Awards 2024 Nominees Revealed, Astro Bot Up for 7 Awards

CWill97

Shame Infinite Wealth wasn’t nominated for GOTY. They probably won’t win anything, but it’s in my Top 3 alongside Rebirth & Metaphor. I’m probably going with Rebirth as my GOTY though. Briana White is my pick for best performance. She portrayed Aerith brilliantly. My most anticipated game is between Persona 6, Yakuza 9 and Hades 2- where two of them haven’t even been formally announced 😂😂

At this point, they just need to have a DLC, Remaster/Remake, etc category. I’m sure Elden Ring DLC is amazing, but it shouldn’t be nominated for GOTY IMO

Re: Review: PS5 Pro - An Impressive Yet Inconsistent Upgrade

CWill97

At first, I was very hesitant to buy in. But, during the night before pre-orders started, I caved in because impulse and decided to go for it. After playing TLOU Part 1 as my first PS5 Pro game (it was my first PS4 game after skipping PS3 gen so it was a pretty awesome full circle adventure playing on the Pro) and now 25ish hours of Metaphor Re:Fantazio, I’m extremely glad I made the purchase. The Pro is moreso with people who have the extra cash saved to splurge paired up with the right TV set-up.

It’s more of a luxury item rather than a necessity. I think the PS5 Gen still has to 2028 so I put it in my head that I’m paying $175 a year (4 years = $700) for a better experience.

Re: The Game Awards Will Confirm 2024 Nominees on Monday

CWill97

I feel like LAD: Infinite Wealth isn’t going to get the recognition it deserves. There are a ton of fun games though like Rebirth, Metaphor, Stellar Blade, Astrobot (haven’t played yet tho), etc so some great ones will automatically be left out sadly

Re: Hands On: PS5 Pro Injects More Magic into Hogwarts Legacy

CWill97

I love Harry Potter but… I tried it once but couldn’t get into it. I got too overwhelmed with Hogwarts. I wish it was a bit more linear instead at the beginning to get you more used to roaming around the school. It’s probably a “me” issue. I’m 100% going to give it another chance though

Re: How to Transfer Data from PS5 to PS5 Pro

CWill97

Does anyone know if we need both PS5’s on a screen to accept inputs or whatever (I’m incompetent with technology terms and in general)?? Just asking because I’ll need to move stuff around if it involves seeing both on separate screens and not just powering up the second device (the original PS5)

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS5 Pro?

CWill97

@DrVenture69 I remember opening up the base PS5 and was amazed with how cool the textures felt. Tbh I haven’t noticed it on the Pro yet but I just got it a couple hours ago. I could pass as blind so if it requires a microscope, I’ll never find out 😭😂😭

Re: Hands On: Serious Pop-In the Only Problem with Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's Massive PS5 Pro Boost

CWill97

@Balaam_ yep, the trophy list is horrendous. I finished all the mini-games last weekend. So when I completed the base game, I was at 112 hours with some mini games, all of the world intel but Fort Condor and all but two quests done. I literally no life’ed the minigames for a week plus because I was in bed with an injury. Current playtime now was around 160ish hours.

On the bright side, it’ll be my most played game of the year by far. On the negative side, I’ll probably have PTSD from any future FF mini-game :’)))))) it’s sad too because the combat really is excellent IMO

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS5 Pro?

CWill97

@TheKurgan well, it doesn’t come with a stand that probs costs much less than a $1 to make, so in that sense, a controller being included is wild 😂😭😂

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS5 Pro?

CWill97

My brain has been so fried lately that I was legit shocked when I opened it up and saw a new controller when obviously it’s a basic necessity for a console :’)))))) I need sleep

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 553

CWill97

FF7 Rebirth mini-game grind has almost come to an end. I’ve beaten the Ultimate Party Animal. All I have left is Fort Condor (saved it for last), Loveless play two more times, Dolphin and Piano. Then I have to beat all of Chadley’s combat sims and Hard Mode for that platinum 😭😭😭 I’m going to save Chadley & Hard Mode for the PS5 Pro though

The hardest mini game was the crunches. Took me 6+ hours. When I finally rage quit and retired for the day, the next day I got it my second try :’)))))) Cactaur Smash was tough but not as bad. Chocobo Racing was the best IMO. Fango for MVP

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 552

CWill97

@KyushuTrail he took me dozens and dozens of times to defeat. Honestly I doubt I could beat him again right now 😂😂 the best advice I can give is to just keep at it. He’s a punk but a beatable punk. The more you play, the more his moveset becomes muscle memory. And don’t be shy to pop your Jizo statues and dragon blood droplets. It’s the final boss- just use everything at your disposal. You can also buff before the Genichiro fight and right when phase 1 begins of Isshin with no issues whatsoever. You’ll end up beating him soon I bet!!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 552

CWill97

@KyushuTrail I had issues with him too. What I did was ceremonial tanto before the fight. Pellet to get me close to full health. Beat Genichiro without taking much/any damage (should be pretty easy). Phase 1 of Isshin don’t be afraid to run away/around the boulders. It will give you the time you need to use to heal. Chip away at his health then back off. Chip then back off. On repeat. Use your sugars and divine confetti on Phase 1 because he gives you time to heal and buff up. It’s much harder afterwards

During Phase 2 and 3, use the Suzaku shield. Keep some but not a drastic amount of distance away from him. When he jumps, shield up and hold. Keep the shield when he does like 3 or 4 gun shots. After I believe he does one slash that you can walk behind with the shield then do a shield attack with on him. After, he’ll go through a few moves from his move set then eventually reset to do a jump again if you keep your distance. So basically you’re baiting him for the jump on the last 2 phases. Also, don’t forget to hold block to restore your posture. The lower your health, the longer it takes to restore it as well

Once you’ve gotten phase 1 done, the shield trivializes the next two phases IMO

Re: Video: 2025 Is Shaping Up to Be PS5's Best Year Yet

CWill97

For me personally, 2024 will be pretty damn hard to beat. FF7 Rebirth, LAD: Infinite Wealth, Persona 3 Reload, SMT V:V, Stellar Blade, etc are fantastic games to me

And I haven’t yet played: Metaphor Re:Fantazio (waiting for my PS4 copy to arrive from PlayAsia), Astrobot, Dragon Age Veilguard, Ace Attorney Investigations (Miles Edgeworth), Dragon’s Dogma 2, Unicorn Overlord, Black Myth Wukong, Rise of the Ronin, Sand Land, DQ3 Remake, Silent Hill 2, and more.

Did I google “Best PS5/PS4 games in 2024” to remember some of these? Yes. Do I care about my bad memory? Also yes. Still though, 2024 has been loaded. But if 2025 has Hades 2, DS2, and more, it could start to compete.

Re: Will the Real Disco Elysium Spiritual Successor Please Stand Up?

CWill97

What made Disco Elysium so good was the whacky ***** we could do with the MC. I can’t see how that would’ve worked without changing the tone/theme of how the first game played with Kim as the MC. I think he’s an excellent partner. But unless the spin off went in a completely different direction, I dont know how it’d work tbh

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 550

CWill97

Ace Attorney #5. I’m on the second case. I would be playing Metaphor Re:Fantazio BUT I ordered it on Play-Asia for the PS4 copy. It’s just a game I expect to want to platinum twice. And no, I don’t autopop trophies 😂😂 Metaphor looks like it’s worthy of taking up two platinums of my time 😎😎

Re: Subscribers Start Receiving Their Final Copies of PLAY Magazine

CWill97

It’s sad these video game magazines are closing down. I get why, but still. The money just isn’t there. Maybe instead of a weekly/monthly mag (if it is that. I have no clue), it could be seasonal so every 3 months. The quality could’ve been better with more games to write about and more time to gather interviews and what not. But again, the money isn’t in it either way.

I remember as a kid getting the Nintendo one and reading them on the toilet. My parents always wondered why I took so long on there… well, blame Nintendo and video games in general. At least I didn’t bring my Gameboy in the bathroom… maybe
