I usually like to watch these, but this one was really really bad. That together with all the negative feeling towards PlayStation just made it a chore to go through.

I would say 80% of playstation owners, the people that aren't terminally online or that take hardcore gaming as a hobby, are not aware of this.

For the excitement for these took a nosedive, as any game without a 2027 date for me won't be something I'm looking forward to anymore.
Lets hope Intergalactic comes out next year.

Looks great, but I won't play it on release. Since it's only digital I'll wait until it is around 20€ before diving in. Got plenty to play in the meantime.

As much as I don't want physical media to go away, I simply don't want to spend money on a rental, this is a step in the right direction to appease people with large physical collections. This way you can move forward to the next console and your collection goes with you.
I don't see Sony do this because they're the market leader, they just want you to buy the games again.

@Chesterpl your disc still works if they remove the digital license. This is to help people move forward to a digital only console and take their collection with them

We're going to measure release dates in "weeks after GTA" now? Kinda like new parents say their kids are 12 weeks instead of 3 months.

@Northern_munkey Unfortunately it's simply a placeholder and they already confirmed in several facebook comments that they don't have more information if the physical release will be available or not, but they'll keep us posted.

Well, my 2 most expected games of 2026 are now a "discount bin" purchase for me. My Fall keeps getting more free with each of these announcements.

They really should've put MGSV in there to sweeten the deal and give us 3 main games like Vol.1
Still, I'm deffo going to get it. MGS4 was the reason I bought my PS3 and I love that game.

@Danloaded I'm with you on this. At least we know it's coming. Waiting a couple of weeks on a month that has 1001 releases is no biggie, in fact it is welcomed.

Sweet Jesus, 220€ for speakers. They weren't kidding when they said they wanted to milk their userbase.

They call them "orbal ningyo" in Japanese, so orbal golems is a lot closer to the original name.

That said, kickass game, loved every bit of it. It's crazy how the series took a nose dive in Cold Steel compared to the earlier games.

The first game was kinda alright, I'm looking forward to this one.We don't get many interesting Lovecraftian games.

While I do like Mihoyo's games, the free to play of it all and the gacha mechanics are just not suited for a gritty souls-like.

@RomanRiz You have time slots for each part of the day (4 for each I think). And not all quests will take the same amount. Some sidequests take 1 slot, others take 3. Some decisions for some quests also will remove a time slot. Once you finish all 4 for daytime, the game changes to night time and so on.

@RoomWithaMoose Why would it be unfair? If it's something that doesn't sit well with you, just accept it.
For me it was thinking that this was a new thing and the first line out of that amazing trailer was "Tojo clan", that killed most of the excitement I had It's just another Yakuza game and I was expecting something different.

Loved the game but I wish it had more school life related activities.

@twitchtvpat Well, I do admit it's assumption since they haven't mentioned anything and only the digital pre-orders are up. You don't see physical listings anywhere.
And how things have been going, I guess it's not too much to assume the worst case scenario.

Kinda blows that there's no physical release, this was my most anticipated game of the year.

Luckily it comes out on PC so I'm sure there will be a way to play it for free.

@Flaming_Kaiser I'm with you mate, I'm 42, but I actually find them oddly cathartic.
I'm sure you can probably save scum the PS3 version yes, but these will be set as a different SKU, I'll probably try to get it anyway, at least keeps me busy until I get another game.

I got all the emblems when the game came out and never went back to get the trophies when they were patched in. I'll certainly do it now.
The motorcycle chase in Act 3 was horrible in Boss Extreme.

@Flaming_Kaiser Unfortunately I don't think the lawsuit (if there is one) will amount to anything.
I want physical to stay an option as anyone else, but if Sony sells the digital codes in retails shops, like Rockstar is doing with GTA6, then you cannot claim it's a monopoly.
Same as any third party games that they sell in PSN, you can always get those in other digital stores (Microsoft, Nintendo, Steam, Epic, GOG), the only issue is with the games they create, but as far as I am aware they can sell their own product in any way they want.

I'm already starting to give up. I'll buy my last disks in 2027 and then I'll flip to my Switch and PC.

Funny that he mentions vinyl, since that is making a comeback AND it's still here, after all these years, Sony is killing their physical media option, so there's no choice whatsoever. Him saying "we're sure we'll make physical editions" is just wrong at best, a lie at worst, since they won't have that option, unless they release GTA6 or any other future games on Switch 2.

I know that there's like almost 0% chance the game is bad, if anything it will probably be at least good if not great, but pre-ordering without seeing any gameplay at all is crazy.

I finished 1st Chapter a couple of days ago and I never played Trails in the Sky, just the Cold Steel games and Reverie.
I wasn't ready for this, the story of the game is quite good, especially when compared to Cold Steel, which is just horrid at times. Now I understand why people say that the Sky series is the best one.

I continue to be flabbergasted by some of the comments here defending Playstation and digital-only with tooth and nail, calling the people that want discs "entitled". You do understand that having more choice doesn't hurt digital. right? It's not a "Us vs Them" thing, if people want to buy physical they should have the choice to do so. In fact it only helps digital by driving the prices down, once you only get one way to buy PS games, Sony will dictate the price they want.

1, Being able to trade/sell digital games.
2, More frequent sales with deeper discounts.

these are the most important ones and are the ones that will never happen, as they want you to pay full price for their games, it's probably the main reason they're killing physical, and once you get locked into digital only, man, those sales are going to start to be veeeery rare, you'll see.

I'll buy it when it's 20€. I never cared about Halo, but it's party of gaming history so I'm willing to take a crack at the remake, since it's story only.

The open world nature of the game seemed novel at first but I quickly got tired of it, for some reason. I did end up getting the platinum but I'm not sure if I'll go back for the DLC like I did with the previous 2 games.

This game started development in a way or another after Lionhead was closed, so that means it's 9 years and not 6. Paying a team in the UK for 9 years isn't cheap.

I give one point to Veilguard, the gameplay was kinda fun. But holy ***** did the characters and story suck. They shot themselves in the foot with this one.

Them announcing a Kratos game like this, almost feels like damage control after the stupid reaction that people had for Laufey's reveal. It's kind of a shame, I was actually looking for something new from SSM and it seems they're tied to GoW for the next 5 to 8 years.

As much as I hate the digital future, this has nothing to do with Rockstart. Japan has a legislation that puts a short timer on all digital currencies.

@IntrepidWombat It's just planned obsolescence. They used the fact that physical was selling less and less to simply just cut it and force everyone into buying from them directly. Not only they don't have to share profits with retailers, they get to dictate prices, sales, when/where the sales are done, etc.
Selling disks is always profitable, just not profitable enough for the shareholders. They already said that they were going to monetize the hell out of their existing userbase, forcing people into buying from PSN is just one step.

@Oram77 It's not "something that actually matters" both issues matter, people focusing on physical going away doesn't invalidate digital ownership, but it's not going to "save" digital rights either. And Sony doesn't need to explain anything, they don't have a monopoly, they have a store where you buy their products, the issue is that by being the only place they can dictate the pricing and availability, but unfortunately that's not illegal.
These companies aren't your friends and they can give two ***** about what the players want/need, you can see the example with what Nintendo just did regarding the tariff return. Also I don't care what Nintendo and Xbox do regarding their prices, as this is a Playstation site and we're discussing Playstation removing the physical option.
In the end only one thing matters to them, and it is money. The sad part is people actually thinking they have the player's best interests in mind, not that people are complaining that their options are being removed.

They won't say anything about that, there won't be any changes. The only thing that will change will be the number of sales (it will be far less) and the price of the games (it will be far higher). I'm actually willing to bet that by the end of 2028 they will have a price hike to 90€
