Koei Tecmo’s stunning remake of its sublime PS2 photography survival horror Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly will scope out a 12th March release date.
The full, ground-up remake is available to pre-order on the PS Store right now, with a Digital Deluxe Edition also including a Digital Soundtrack, Digital Artbook, and a bunch of in-game cosmetics, including fresh outfits for twin sister protagonists, Mio and Mayu.
The blurb from the PS Blog reads:

“Twin sisters Mio and Mayu Amakura wander into an abandoned and cursed village infested with wraith, and use the Camera Obscura, a special camera that has the ability to capture and contain the impossible, to fight against the wraith.”
This is a top-to-bottom remake, with every texture and detail rebuilt. The team has even looked to PS2 classic ICO for inspiration, introducing a hand-holding mechanic where the sisters can assist each other by strengthening their bond.
Meanwhile, the key gameplay element – the Camera Obscura – has been enhanced with new functions like zoom, filters, and focus.
If you enjoyed the distinctly Japanese horror of Silent Hill F earlier this year, then this should absolutely find a spot on your wishlist.
