It's a good time to be a fan of choice-driven RPGs, because The Outer Worlds 2 just dropped on PS5.
Obsidian's latest release has technically been out for a few days through paid early access, and so far, player impressions seem to be pretty positive overall.
The Outer Worlds — the first game — launched for PS4 back in 2019, and so this sequel's been cooking for a while. And going by most reviews (including our own), The Outer Worlds 2 improves on just about everything that its predecessor introduced as a new property.

"The Outer Worlds 2 succeeds in being a bigger and better sequel, buoyed by an even greater emphasis on player choice and freedom. Its RPG mechanics are largely fantastic, and there are key improvements to both combat and exploration," is what we wrote in our The Outer Worlds 2 PS5 review.
However, we eventually settled on a 'good' score of 7/10, due to some issues with title's story and characters: "Despite Obsidian's clever writing, there's an underlying dreariness to the property that it just can't seem to escape. These dull characters and their one-note factions are difficult to truly care for."
Still, we think if you're into role-playing mechanics, and how they tie into character development as well as the gameplay loop, then you'll probably find a lot to like about this sci-fi adventure.
