Despite its name, The Game Awards has never been just about handing out awards. Alongside recognising the year's best and brightest, Geoff Keighley's December show revels in game announcements and updates for future titles.
Whether that's to its benefit or its detriment is an argument for another day, but with huge viewing figures and participation from the biggest publishers in the industry, we don't see it changing course.
In the lead-up to The Game Awards, we usually start to see some teases and announcements about which games are going to form part of the show outside the awards themselves. Now, we know one of the games bringing something to the event.

The game is Exodus, itself revealed at Geoff's show two years ago.
The sci-fi action adventure RPG has confirmed its attendance at The Game Awards 2025:
Starring Matthew McConaughey, you play as the Traveler, a regular salvager who travels through time to save humanity from the Celestials.
It sounds like the catch is that moving through time takes up moments for you but a lifetime for the rest of the human race, meaning your actions will have serious consequences as you progress through the game.
As you explore the galaxy, you'll gather a loyal crew who are under your command.
It sounds like a combination of Mass Effect and Interstellar.
At any rate, the game is debuting a brand new trailer at this year's Game Awards.
It's the first of many that will confirm their attendance ahead of the show in mid-December.
