Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Next Game

We're now two whole years removed from the full release of Baldur's Gate 3, and the anniversary has prompted Larian Studios boss Swen Vincke to post a rather sincere message on social media.

Obviously, the sheer success of Baldur's Gate 3 has changed the company's trajectory forever. Larian was already making incredibly highly rated titles before it got its hands on the Dungeons & Dragons property, but the 2023 RPG propelled the developer to unprecedented new heights.

"Crazy to think it’s only been two years. It’s truly been life changing. Probably worth writing about one day," says Vincke.

"But I can spoil the biggest takeaway. BG3 was what allowed us to do our next crazy thing."

This "next crazy thing" hasn't been revealed yet, but we know it's not Baldur's Gate 4, and we know that Vincke has shown real excitement over the upcoming project on numerous occasions now.

"I can’t wait to show you. But you’ll need to be patient / we’ll need a bit of time to make it all work," he continues.

"It’ll be worth it though."

So when will we actually get to see what Larian's been cooking? Well, it's hard to say. The overall scope of the project has been kept under wraps so far, and it's generally just difficult to predict what direction the studio's going in.

"Obviously, it's very ambitious," is what Vincke said of the new project back in 2024.

"We have to focus on making something that we want to play. And if it's that, then we'll be fine."

What do you want from Larian's next game, then? Is another in-depth RPG an inevitability, or do you think this thing could surprise people? Explore your wildest dreams in the comments section below.
